The 2025 Gender Census is now open!

The 12th annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 30th August 2025. It's for people whose genders (or lack thereof) defy or transcend the restrictive male/female binary.

It’s short and easy, for most participants it takes 5 minutes or less.

We're about a third of the way through the survey month and there are an incredible 30,000 respondents internationally so far from word-of-mouth alone - but the majority are from the USA, referred by Tumblr, and/or under 30! Can you help get the word out to more people?

Here are some links to social media posts for easy sharing:

bluesky, facebook, instagram, threads, reddit, telegram, whatsapp, signal, discord, and the fediverse (mastodon etc)

The survey URL is https://survey.gendercensus.com and it's especially helpful if you can share it with your local LGBTQ+ support group(s) online or in person.

We also have some flyers / leaflets / tiny posters, which you can print out and stick up anywhere, and we have a press release pack with some helpful text and illustrations you can use freely.

Sarah feels like she literally only exists because the main character in a childrens movie needed a female love interest. Like, I know people get mad about people shitting on Katherine but I haven't seen anything about Sarah so I hope most people agree. She just sorta is there at dinner, she's there on the rooftop, and she's there to be attacked by the Delancys, and is there to be kissed by Jack at the end of the movie. I will never forget that time I was in the car with my grandpa omw home. (This was years ago and I watched ST with my gma and Gpa at the time when st4 came out) and he looked at me and went. "Some people online want Mike and Will to get together" and I went "oh really? 😳 that's weird..." (I was a Byler shipper then and now) and it was silence for the rest of the ride.

I think about it a lot. I was TERRIFIED.

PSA: we need to save the bali myna

today i got really mad out of nowhere about this and decided that if nobody is going to talk about these birds and their conservation, i will. the bali myna is a small bird found only in bali. they are critically endangered -  fewer than 100 adults exist in the wild. (and there’s around 1000 in captivity) the biggest threat towards the bali myna is likely its demand in the captive bird trade - they can fetch extremely high prices on the black market.’

donate to bali safari marine park - currently maintaining a captive gene pool of bali mynas + boosting their population

donate to begawan foundation -  breeding and releasing bali mynas, and educating local communities on these birds

educate others on responsible pet purchases + avoid feeding into the pet trade that endangers so many beautiful species.

may be a hot take but i think the fact minors can access 18+ content by just clicking a button that says 'yes im totally over 18 trust me' is like. totally fine tbh. its a non-issue. i dont care if curious teenagers are looking at porn. they've been doing that for as long as porn has existed. id rather teens explore their sexuality through images on the internet than rush into real life experiences when they're not ready for it yknow. the UK is trying to put stricter age verification in place (which in turn is becoming an online privacy nightmare) and like. for what. who is it helping. why is this a problem.
