Listen
The silence doesn’t mean I’m mad
The silence doesn’t mean I’m less
The silence doesn’t mean I’m bored
The silence doesn’t mean I’m stressed
My silence is peace with this mess
peace with distress that we never address
within the silence.
The silence shouldn’t be ignored
but silence is as silence does
exists between cracks of noisy floors.
When you silence my silence
it’s as if you abhor
the complexities of your own soul
You close your own doors
while all you chose to ignore
is still present still beautiful
around me and you
The silence says more than
you or I could say or do.

Charcoal Man
Faceless man, empty man
Coffee browned teeth with a leery grin
Faceless man shameless man
Digging a bed for his coffin of sin.
Faceless Man, careful man
reading the paper
outlining every black word
resented ink
following each wrinkle in time’s fabric.
Lost Man, Women left
he guzzled down ever last
soft spoken absolution
foolishly...
smuggly...
Ready and able to defend his word,
In his attic he conspires
and lives out each brilliant lie
nothing to remember him by
he stares into the
icy oracle reflector
it shows a man in love
and afraid
outlined by life
waiting to be filled in with the true vibrancy of being--
a charcoal man.
