It should be telling for people that were around for it, but that was the point. They're trying to obscure the downright jingoistic viewpoints of the american government at the time from people who weren't alive to see it. I was 10 during this time and even then, if you weren't paying attention, everyone with authority over the decision worked to hide what they were doing. The resolution to invade passed the Senate 77 to 23, one of the most bipartisan measures to pass that I've been alive to witness. The american government knew very much what it was doing. That's also why The Hague Invasion Act is even a thing in the first place. It was a pre-emptive protective policy passed in advance of the invasion to protect the Bush adminsitration from being tried as the war criminals they knew they were going to become.
I missed most of the Iraq war due to being a baby, but every time I read about it I start wondering why we aren’t all talking about it all of the time

im in disbelief at the fact that a lot of folks are simply over palestine. like protests are dwindling down. people are not very interested in news related to gaza. some are simply over it.
israel hasn't let aid in gaza in 70 days. gaza has been starving for 70 days. the condition of people there is horrendous.
i find it distressing to think about children in gaza. how does one continue to have a childhood in a genocide? they don't have school. they don't have safety. they don't have food.
despite all this, the kids will be alright. they'll be alright once the genocide stops and they get back to 'normal'. till then, can we please try to support them however we can?
this fundraiser (verified) helps feed a family which includes two young children. please consider helping their mother take care of them.

The level of dystopia we're operating on for this to even be a coherent string of posts and not a wild technopunk au community fic boggles the mind. I can't think of a single piece of dystopian fiction that would think to even satirize this, the very idea is so outlandish and fundamentally opposed to the concept of basic human emotional operation. This isn't Late Stage or even Terminal Stage Hierarchy. This is Beyond Parody.

We live in actual hell

Same amount of fanfiction written about them too.
"Oh they're gonna do x policy!" "She thinks I'm cute!"
"Did they say that with their mouth or is that just what you heard on your head?"

Damn, if Autism Speaks is upset, that's a catastrophe. Unfortunately we can thank AS for draiming meaningful advocacy away from autistic people and making them a very easy target for authoritarians using them as an excuse to start dismantling the things that better society for the most people, like medical care and social support services.
During autism awareness month, it’s important to recognize this type of misinformation propaganda. Please reblog and share to spread the word. This is complete ableism.

Joe Biden declared an end to the pandemic, and other world leaders followed suit. The Doctors and public health experts who are qualified to make such a determination never said such a thing.
An emergency being over doesn't mean the threat is gone. The Chernobyl disaster no longer being an emergency doesn't mean it's safe to wander around in the area surrounding the reactor. The same thing applies to covid. It's not "endemic." It's not suddenly "just a cold." It's still a continuing, developing threat, especially with the reality of long covid.

Some of the themes and readings my media-blind ass could extrapolate from Sinners. Take everything I say with a grain of salt because I'm a nobody with a high school level of education and poor memory. This is all based on one viewing of the movie the previous night as I quickly write down my thoughts before my terrible memory takes them away, wanting to get my thoughts out there before the opinion pieces and analysis by far more qualified people than myself come out and color my outlook of the movie. I say this to also excuse the atrocious formatting. So without further ado, some readings:
- Racism as represented by random acts of explosive violence on vulnerable people just trying to live their lives (the obvious one, and what I assumed the main point to be of the film based on my first viewing of the trailer. But it goes SO MUCH deeper than this and frankly I was pretty off base with my assumption based on the trailer).
- The fluid, adaptable nature of fascism, allowing it to adopt any aspect of its surrounding to mutate into a gestalt entity of vagaries to gain popular support, when regardless of its trappings its primary motivation is rooted in a self-serving desire of the fascist to maintain power over people (Remmick playing into the racist couple's racism to infiltrate their home by expressing racist language and using slurs, but then claiming an anti-racist perspective and even expressing a seething contempt for a known local power racist to cater favor with black people so they allow him into *their* space, and then even speaking to an asian person in their native tongue, not out of respect but in order to manipulate them into giving him what he wanted)
- How even bloodsucking monstrosities aren't as bad as white supremacists (Remmick not being the final enemy Smoke faces despite being the most dangerous, he's also far more cultured and outwardly pleasant than the klan members, amd as an irish person, would have also been targeted by the version of the KKK that sprung up around the era)
- The difference between the apparent, immediate danger and ugliness of the individual racist (Remmick being a huge, explosively violent threat) and the quiet, polite, yet just as threatening (if not more so) and sometimes twice as ugly threat of systemic racism (the grand wizard being a wealthy landowner that sells Smoke and Stack access to wealth in the area by selling them the property of the juke joint, ostensibly being "on their side" when they play by the rules, he is also the final confrontarion Smoke faces and the thing that does actually kill him.) If we go with this analysis, it could also be using their interplay on how these two forms of persecution feed off of and support each other. Remmick, playing the part of the "ugly" individual racist, is able to use the threat of the klan to attempt to goad his way into the juke joint, admonishing one form of racism and deliberately highlighting the danger the other poses to mask the other form that *he* contributes to and disguise the danger *he* poses. Usually, the situation is reversed, with systemic racism pointing to individual racists as the "main problem" to be dealt with, but the metaphor is reversed here and that actually highlights the point. The vampires *technically* represented a less total annihilation that the klan posed, because the vampirized people were still technically "alive", and they were primarily after Sammie, whereas the klan would have indiscriminately slaughtered every single person there, killing them on the spot with no attempts at empathy, convincing with sweet words, or even a false sense of community that Remmick tried. The vampires were death, but the klan was annihilation.
- a metaphor for culture vulturism, the appropriation of music and culture made by black americans by white people for self-serving reasons, despite having culture of their own they can claim for themselves, and how the art is wanted but the creator can be dealt away with (Remmick having deep cultural roots to his native Ireland but prioritizing Sammie's music not for thr value it has as an artistic expression or Sammie's potential as an artist (that eventually gets realized when he's able to choose his own destiny) but for the selfish desire to see his dead community again, and weaponizing the power in Sammie's music, with Sammie staying a creative or even alive being irrelevant. This point is even stated in the text: "They want black music but they don't want black bodies" also hammered home by Remmick literally just passing through, meaning he could have ignored the juke joint entirely (as the worlddoes black people in general) until he was drawn in by Sammie's music. His talent shown like a beacon, and made a white person with actionable power realize he could use that power to get something that he wanted but couldn't get on his own, and thus, notice Sammie and his community, to disastrous results. To go further, having asian artistic heritage in the music trance scene despite it the mood being created by a black american singing south americana depression era black blues highlights how art, when a genuine expression, can allow cultures to coexist with each other regardless of rifts when they give room for each other and welcome each other. Sammie's music created a temporary gestalt culture where everyone present was truly represented, everyone got to come as they were. The chinese couple got to be chinese fully and totally despite being in a black space because art welcomes everyone. But if Remmick does indeed represent culture vulturism, then the fact that he had EVERYONE that was under his spell abandon all of the various different cultures they were a part of, to sing a singular irish folk song, in *unison*, with no variance or personal touch from the individual, hammers home the homogeniztaion that eventually takes hold of art when culture vultures pick it clean.)
- how defensive/retaliatory nationalism can be just as bad as the regular kind if you forego intersectional solidarity and don't take steps to not use the same tools as the oppressor in the process (Remmick's primary reason for attacking the juke joint for Sammie was his desire to reunite with his dead irish community wiped out by christian missionary colonizers by using thebpower of Sammie's talent, an understandable, sympathetic position, but he's willing to get that community back by making a new family that is even race-blind (potentially not out of equality, but of convenience and power. Considering this metaphor as a possible interpretation, Remmick might not even be aware he is doing this for this reason). He does this by terrorizing and annihilating another community of equally vulnerable people, vulnerable from the same people no less, and turning them into bloodsoaked thralls of his will, literally killing them (as his community was) and damning their souls for eternity alongside him to get it back, both in a metaphorical and literal sense, making a new family from his drudges but also looking to resurrect his old family with a sacrifice. He uses violence to get his culture back, but ends up being a replacement for the entity that took that away from him in the first place, just for another community that he didn't belong to. To go back to the irish folk tune in unison scene, the song, Rocky Road to Dublin, is about a poor man leaving the home he was born in to make a dangerous headway to another place. It could literally be read as an anthem for immigrants or struggling folk, and is practically a word for word retelling of the *Twins' life story*. Here is Remmick, using his victims to sing and center *his* pain, *his* grief, as an irish immigrant in depression era America, ignoring THEIR pain, THEIR sorrow. Hell, the song is a weapon against the homdouts in the juke joint, because he's using the loved ones of those people to tug at their emotions and inflict more pain to get what he wants. This could also tie into a metaphor about how marginalized communities will sometimes infight during times of major crisis instead of banding together to resist the original problem, with a secondary critique of individual successes for marginalized people within an unequal society can blind those success stories from solidarity, creating greater struggle for marginalized people with less success and sabotaging their OWN success by cutting them off from the support of their community, the "black capitalism" problem. Remmick got a little bit of power from his vampirism, and decided to use that for his personal satisfaction and desires rather than his claimed goal of getting back at the people who directly wronged him or lifting other people up)
- the opportunistic nature of white supremacy and facism and how it can creep into the cracks left by moderate positions of outreach and compromise (born from people blind to the real nature of fascism and white supremacy, usually due to privilege) to fully infiltrate and destroy a movement, colonizing a position and moving it more comfortably into its wheelhouse and normalizing its ideas (represented by the first domino falling that would seal everyone's fate against the vampires being the one white person in their community trying to reach out and be empathetic to the white strangers posing innocently at the door at night, who then proceeded to poke holes in her mental and tugging at her vulnerability, and take advantage of her physical as well as her emotional isolation reaching out to the middle of the aisle, in order to turn her to their cause, who then infiltrated back into the original space she was in as a new convert and making things worse for everyone with her newly dark (read: radicalized) position. It could even be a good metaphor for greed and capitalism, or even how desperate people can be swayed to radical positions during times of crisis by one charismatic promising a way out. With this framing, Remmick gets in both times by offering people a frankly extravangant amount of wealth for the time period out of "generosity". It works on the racist couple, and it works on Mary, who is aware the juke joint is GOING to go under and it hasn't even been one night)
I am very much curious to see the coming analysis vidoes and writings, because this movie was a deeply moving and powerful experience and I wamt to hear as many experiences people had with it as I can. The movie was incredible. If this is Coogler's first "original idea" as he called it, I look forward to his work even more, because dang. Michael B. Jordan also proved his pedigree as one of the acting world's top talents from this film. This was an oscar worthy performance from an actor that has cemented himself as a top name in the slowly growing stable of fresh new talent in the industry. I encourage everyone to see it, especially longtime horror and vampire fiction fans. It is THAT good.

Jeremy Boring looks like every greasy scumbag city slicker car salesman liberal I've ever hated. It's so infuriating how he tries and rubs shoulders with the working class, because we can ALL see that if he had been just that tiny bit more successful, if CBS had bought one of the many screwball sitcom pitches I'm sure he threw their way over the years, he'd be at all of those "hollywood elite" parties he claims to have disdain for, hobnobbing with the greasiest of Hollywood's underbelly, licking any undercarriage he could to get a new deal on a B movie. The audacity of him trying to say "Indeed I'm one of you" when he ABSOLUTELY would use hand sanitizer after shaking the hand of ANY Daily Wire fan that doesn't show up in a tailored armani suit. I've spent a lot of comment sections insulting him, and my wife wanted me to start writing down the insults I've used for him, so here they are in list form. Feel free to repeat them at your leisure.
- Jeremy Boring looks like somebody named Jeremy Boring
- Jeremy Boring looks like he keeps getting kicked out of Weinstein parties for bogarting all the blow
- Jeremy Boring looks like he fistfights raccoons over Arby's Beef and Cheddars
- Jeremy Boring looks like this is the third time he's been caught by his wife googling "'Name of female Nickelodeon actress'; age"
- Jeremy Boring looks like he weirds out Kevin Spacey. Not because of the child stuff, but because he won't stop trying to get him to sign on for "a revolutionary new writing project he's working on" for free
- Jeremy Boring looks like he gets into verbally abusive arguments with his wife over who changes the lightbulbs in their house
- Jeremy Boring looks like he's not allowed in the high school carpool after "The Incident"
- Jeremy Boring looks like he got sent to the hospital after stealing his teenaged son's skateboard and whiffing a trick gnarly style in his garage
- Jeremy Boring looks like he goes to Red Robin to bomb hitting on the waitresses
- Jeremy Boring looks like he t-boned a schoolbus full of band geeks and then demanded to see the children's lawyer. Like, collectively
- Jeremy Boring looks like his ears would perk up when someone mentions "Salma Hayek's socks"
- Jeremy Boring looks like he spilled baked beans on himself watching Cars 2 on a field trip
- Jeremy Boring looks like the kind of guy who jokes about how much bourbon is in his flask but it's really a stolen capri sun roaring water
- Jeremy Boring looks like he can't shoplift because he has too much hair gel on his hands
- Jeremy Boring looks like he asks for "your finest scotch" so the waiter gives him gin out of spite but he can't tell the difference
- Jeremy Boring looks like he tells his son to "go play outside you're annoying me" at his son's wedding
- Jeremy Boring looks like he haggles at a T-Mobile store
- Jeremy Boring looks like he avoids the game Ratshaker because he thinks it's about him
- Jeremy Boring looks like he thinks The King in Yellow and The Yellow Wallpaper are the same story and if you ask him to describe the plot he'll describe Raiders, and then tell you how he "could have done it better tbh"
- Jeremy Boring looks like he subscribes to his daughters' friends' onlyfans "as a friend don't show me anything lol"
- Jeremy Boring looks like he tries to mog PTA meetings
- Jeremy Boring looks like he says "I guess it's free hahaha" every time his protein powder doesn't ring up but then gets mad and yells at you if you don't laugh
- Jeremy Boring looks like the reason the girl with the septum piercing at Starbucks takes emergency breaks at the same time every morning
- Jeremy Boring looks like he got leather upholstery in his car and won't stop complaining about them
- Jeremy Boring looks like he coughs to cover up his farts but they're really loud so you can still hear them so it's just a loud fart coupled with a loud fake cough at the same time

This is the voice of a person that is more interested in maintaining hegemonic control over the status quo than actually trying to work for the betterment of human beings, simple as. They want your vote. They don't want you.

Never seen a person unironically use the word "silent majority" to refer to themself that didn't also have, at the absolute best, sketchy shit to say about people of color without being prompted to say anything
Block the writing-prompt-s blog. I don't care if you like them I don't care if they're important to your ability to practice your creativity. They chased a genocide survivor off of tumblr with harassment and baseless accusations. This is a serious fucking problem and it's more important than 1 writing prompt blog.

"i respect trans people" do you?
do you respect trans people who look like their agab, whether they want to or not?
do you respect transfems with body/facial hair? transfems who don't wear makeup or dresses or skirts? transfems with low voices? transfems with short hair?
and do you respect transmascs who don't bind? transmascs who wear makeup or dresses or skirts? transmascs with high voices? transmascs with long hair?
do you respect trans people who don't "pass"?

i just wanna say real quick that when Tim Walz inevitably compromises everything he's stood for in the past and drifts further and further right over the next four years and also enthusiastically commits genocide against Palestinians I hope everyone celebrating this pick rn takes a good look at their behavior

"You don't understand, they'll do genocide but different. There's degrees of "total extermination" and one is worse we promise"
Apparently.
Glad to see stuff like this, because the useless pontification about degrees and the severity of genocide mean nothing to the people actually affected by the human rights crisis in Palestine. Listening to centrist liberals waffling uselessly about "strategy" and "taking the time to do things right" about ceasefires means nothing because we all know they wouldn't be doing it if it was their children, their families, currently being bombed by a genocidal state bent on expansion and death.
"One will be worse" Fucking how?? How is one total annihilation better than another? Oh, "one will be 'faster'"? Are you fucking high?
And yes, I've considered the "one over there, one over here" bullshit too. Like the conservatives are playing any less nicer to the marginalized here in the US as the centrists are. Both parties get into dick measuring about how much they hate immigrants, or to use their words, "illegals", and black people, or to use their words, "criminals".
Oppression is bipartisan!
What do you mean by worse?
No, be exacting in your language because a lot of y’all escape the particular and give Democrats a blank check simply because “Trump bad.”
What could Trump possibly give to Israel that Biden hasn’t?
What weapons don’t they have and aren’t using because these motherfuckers are liberally dropping white phosphorus now?
Which buildings can’t they bomb because they destroyed most of Gaza’s infrastructure, historical or other wise?
How many more deaths can Trump accelerate when we are already at the conservative estimate of nearly 180,000 dead due to not just direct military conflict, but dead due to what happens when you destroy nearly every fucking health facility in the area?
What you are going to compare numbers? If Trump wins, are you going to say “See? If this was Harris, the death toll would have been half?” at a certain time frame?
A few months ago, college students were beaten, gassed, accused of antisemitism, and lost their degrees for standing up to genocide, but somehow that would have escalated under Trump?
Today, a couple of IDF battalions pulled out of Gaza. Sounds good right? Oh my bad, I mean the IOF because these motherfuckers only did so because they wanted to have a Jan 6 Israel adaptation-ass insurrection to join in the upheaval about arresting soldiers raping Palestinian detainees, and no, nigga, those monsters are upset that the Military police have the audacity to jail those soldiers. But somehow you expect me to believe Trump will exponentially make this worse somehow?
Maybe you should stop letting that reasoning that things would be worse under Trump lie to yourselves about just how spectacularly fucked shit is now? Oppression is bipartisan, baby. Repression is the only common language both parties speak fluently. In the name of “harm reduction,” the reality is that the militarization of society and deteriorating living conditions will continue unabated and won’t cede if you don’t have a line in the fucking sand.
Instead of blaming people for withholding their vote until this shit stops and the US stop unconditionally supporting Israel and shielding them from repercussions, maybe you should be mad at Harris for jeopardizing your future to bet on Israel? Bitch, stand up! If you don’t put your foot down some fucking where, you are only setting yourself up to accept any fucking thing from the democrats under the specter that Republicans are worse.
