Throughout this semester i’ve learned a-lot about art. I always thought art was just as simple as looking at a painting. But its a-lot more than that. Its a process, its something that is up to the viewer. Ive learned so much more about famous artists such as Leonardo De Vinci and Michelangelo, like how the two were backed by the Medicini family, or how Michelangelo saw himself more as a sculptor than anything else. Ive learned about vanitas, which is where i found one of my favorite paintings ever, the eye pictured above. Theres so much that ive learned throughout this art class that i never thought i would need to know personally, but it all has stuck with me and i know ill take it with me wherever i go. This class has been fun and inspirational. I’ll never look at art the same, and the excites the heck out of me :) . (pictured above are some of my favorite artworks that i stumbled upon in this class!)

the Medici’s supported works of many different artists. However, Michelangelo was special to them for he was the one that designed their family tombs in florence.

1.) Excellent example of a shell system. You can see the roof is used on the inside as well, making it the same material for the inside of the building.

2.) The U shaped Skyscraper in New York City is an example of a skeleton and skin system. Different materials are used on the inside then on the outside.

3.) A material that has fantastic tensile strength and is used to build almost everything with, is steel.

1.) In Chan Chan, Peru. These wooden land sculptures were used as burial markers.

2.) Maya Lin made grooves in the ground as a land sculpture. These are all over the states! They can be as tall as 15 feet high

Here is the drawing I did with sticks and black ink. Absolutely no idea whats going on here I just listened to music and let my mind go to work lol.

1.) surprised Vincent Van Gogh wasn’t famous when he was alive! 

2.) Delighted that after his death, Van Gogh got the recognition he always wanted and deserved for his paintings.

3.) Confused how it took a couple of decades for his work to become recognized, and that it took his sister in law to make it happen.

I was looking around for the sound suits by Nick Cave, when I came arose this one. Something about the game across the face stood out to me. It’s almost like you have to play a game to see out of it!

My favorite Andy Goldsworthy piece. It looks like there’s just a black hole in the earth, it’s so captivating!

Lyonel Feininger’s Old Stone Bridge. Makes me feel like I’m in a fantasy world when I look at it!!
