It’s been exactly 20 years since the release of the first Harry Potter book! (26 June 1997)

And it's done!!! #QueenieGoldstein coat is complete! This was made using a vintage 1920s coat pattern for reference, pink dupioni silk, dark pink velvet, and a dark grey cotton for lining. Complete with wand pocket and dragot/wand permit pocket. All beading along the collar done by hand by @hobbitparty. I think I say this every time, but this was definitely my most technically difficult costume to date. So happy with how it came out and I think Hayley looks beautiful in it.

Had a blast at #Heroescon today with my partner in crime-fighting @hobbitparty. Got to bring #CaptainAmerica back out and premier #BlackWidow. Not a single one of our costumes could happen without equal parts of both our skills. I don't have the patience of the careful searching and deal finding Hayley can do to find our fabric and components, and I'm good at the detail-oriented construction/sewing. That's what makes us a great team. #michayleycosplay (at Charlotte Convention Center)

My Newt Scamander cosplay entry for ConCarolina’s costume contest. Coat and waistcoat made by me. Coat is made from felt and has a grey lining complete with wand pocket and other pocket’s for Newt’s magical bits and gobs. The pants are Goodwill finds that I altered to look more screen accurate and high waisted, and have suspenders underneath like in the movie. The case is handpainted by my wife and opens and closes (though additional charms have been placed on the locks to prevent any more magizoological catastrophes). Boots are also screen accurate. The case and pockets hold additional prop recreations like the Occamy egg, journal and quill for field notes, and vial of Erumpent musk.
