(This post has a bit much to summarize easily, hence a reblog.
Tumblr media
Here is a screencap of the new interface for MojoFire.com!
Let’s start with the upper left. You see the profile pic of the blogger and underneath is a badge. MojoFire will employ a badging system where users earn badges depending on specific achievement (similar to how War Of Warcraft’s achievement system works) such as Gaining 100 Followers, Signing Up To The Newsletter Before Launch or maybe posting something on Valentine’s Day. There will be more news about badges and other system features to come in the following days.
If I can direct your attention to the speech bubble on the lower right of the image. When clicked, you will see the comments open to the right of the image post. This will integrate into a much improved chat system within MojoFire.
The small red logo to the left of the reblog bottom is the way to show if you liked a post. This bar will have a lot of future functionality. Users of the XKit extension will recognize some of that functionality, but it will be built into the site. Why Tumblr never built this level of functionality into their site is beyond me.
From the beginning of this crazy project to make a home for the communities that Tumblr abandoned, I wanted the project to have as much transparency as possible - I think the community has been through enough as it is. We don’t need more bullshit.
We have over 4000 people in our Discord group where we plan and develop the site out in public. We also recruit volunteers to help with certain aspects of the project; GUI design, PR, server development, marketing, finance, policy development and many other projects.
Join our Discord group that we have for building this thing out!

Welcome back to your community.
Please reblog.

Both Mojofire and Pillowfort released updates in the last few weeks.
Mojofire’s talks a bit about what kind of post-types they’ll have (like Tumblr’s Text, Photo, Quote, Link, Chat, Audio, and Video), why they’re dropping the ‘Quote’-type post, and having ‘Chat’ default-off. They also have links to their “reserve your tumblr name” option, their planning discord, their indigogo, and their newsletter.
The “reserve your tumblr name” requires you to give them the e-mail you use on tumblr, and to give them read and write access to your tumblr to confirm that name. The screen says:
In order to claim the same identity you had on Tumblr, we need to verify your account details. Once you click the button below, you will be asked to log into your Tumblr account and grant us read and write permissions.
MojoFire will only read your username details. We will never write to your account. Tumblr unfortunately does not allow us to request only read permissions.
I believe they are being sincere. However, this is a way nefarious software gets into your tumblr account, so be prepared to change your password, and to revoke permissions, quickly. Information on how to do that can be found here. (Link is to a zendesk article).
The main DW post has been updated, as have the Mojofire and Pillowfort entries.

Added Fandom.ink and Baraag.net to the main page, and created entries.

Fandom.ink (Mastadon*) main | Fandom.ink Entry
Baraag hosts loli and shota, so please read the entry first, if you are unfamiliar.

I had the incorrect link for the Fandom Exodus discord server. I’m so sorry! Here’s the correct link:
 The Fandom Exodus
I’ve fixed it on the DW page, and on the entry here.

Does this effort have a name, or something (besides this post) that I can link to in my summaries of various efforts to migrate off of Tumblr?
If you’re a coder and you want to help with a platform that puts adult content creators first, send me a message.
This seems really simple to me. Build a social network that allows sex workers to connect meaningfully with their followers. Allow them to publish the content they want to make.
Build in a way to buy premium content, and suddenly the platform you use for promotion becomes the way you distribute your products.
Make it social. Make it a community. Make it safe. Make it better than the tumblr turncoats ever would have.

There are a lot of efforts out there to create/recreate a space for fandom after Tumblr imposed its porn ban in December of 2018. This account is to (try) to keep track of those efforts. I, myself, can't join and assess them all, but I'll try to create and maintain an up-to-date list of the efforts, and hopefully others can join, assess, and report back. I think the best way to do this will be to maintain one (1) master list, pinned at the top of this blog, and then have separate entries for each effort. Discussion is welcome in the posts for the various efforts.
Hi all;
I thought it would be useful to track the various efforts people are making to move fandom (and other unwelcome segments of the) population(s) away from tumblr, after it imposed its porn/NSFW ban in December of 2018.
I created the tracker on Dreamwidth because of its discussion abilities, it is not meant as a vote for moving fandom to DW. The DW account is open to anonymous commenting.
Feel free to ping me here on Tumblr, or contact me at (this username)@gmail.com.
I’ll try to cross-post as much as possible, but please consider the Dreamwidth account the “master” location for information.
This tool is only useful if people know about it, and share information about efforts to migrate fandom. I promise to keep both this tumblr, and the dreamwidth, on topic, and to not use them as a platform for anything else, or to lobby one effort over another. So, *sigh* PLEASE REBLOG.
