Q6 : Favorite character to play ?

Sooo I think it depends on the game ofc, so here's my favorites for each game :

Sengoku Basara 1 : Masamune ! The game being quite hard and unforgiving makes a Masamune very strong just bc he's easy to use, and his six sword style doesn't leave much room for ennemies to strike. It's also way more powerful than other games where you can be more easily canceled out of the six swords playstyle

Sengoku Basara 2/2H : Probably Nagamasa, esp in tournament's he's broken, both powerful, quick and interesting to play, I know I had some of my best runs with him ! I'd say Oichi is a close second bc of her interesting gameplay

Sengoku Basara 3 : Keiji, Yukimura and Saica ! Keiji bc he has a super fun gameplay with lots of depht to his combos. Yukimura bc he's got skills that can easily cancel some ennemis attacks, he's very acrobatic and fun, and his spinning attack is just a classic ! And finally Saica because she's not easy to grasp but once she's properly leveled she has a surprising depht to her gameplay with lots of hidden skills that are super fun to use !!

Sengoku Basara 3 Utage : Kojûrô ! I really love what they did with his extended gameplay here. Especially his capacity to chain skills by quickly going into ennemie's back ; which can be a bit difficult to exploit but super satisfying. And also if you choose his big laser super technique, you can chain it super easily with other attacks, which greatly decreases the time to cast it, and that shit is BROKEN

Noy necesseraly my favorite senbasa manga but I still think it's quite enjoyable and nice hehe

sengoku basara 30 day challenge - day 4 Q4 - Favourite character?

my heart belongs to both masamune and oichi equally

oichi's the one who got me into the franchise, and she's very near and dear to my heart.

she has a lot of nuance and it makes me very enamoured with her. she looks like a typical meek gloomy girl at first but she has a lot more going on

i love seeing her interact with other characters because they all care such different vibes, they show off different aspects of herself (btw if the franchise continues, i want to see her interact with tsuruhime again!!!!)

on the gameplay aspect she's very fun to play LOL which is strange because i usually prefer fast character she's slow but she's super powerful. and her shadow hands are super cool

all in all i have mega brainworms when it comes to ichi and i'm super glad she's the poster girl of basara LMAO

----- onto masamune, i wasn't expecting to really care about him at first (i started getting into the franchise by playing sumeragi, so i just ended up ignoring everyone that wasn't oichi back then) but when i watched the anime. oh man. he instantly captivated me, he's the coolest! everything about him just rocks: his seiyuu, his fighting style, the way his horses have those stupid ass exhaust ports 😭, and so much more he just exudes badassery!!! i wasn't expecting to like him this much and he's not doing it in a tryhardy way, he's just naturally cool and that's super charming in regards to gameplay, while he's not a character i'd play super often, he is super fun to play as. activating his basara attack and getting the six swords power-up... literal peak. ----- i have so many more thoughts regarding masamune and ichi but i am not the best at expressing my feelings via text. just know i wuv wuv wuv them a lot :D honourable mentions for favs: hanbei, keiji, motonari, and maria 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Day 4: Favourite character?

I do rotate, like, 3 characters as my favourite, but I think my all-time fave is Azai Nagamasa. Which is sad since he is literally the only character (that isn't an antagonist) that dies.

He's such a sopping wet cat I could talk about him for hours. He's a lil tsundere that loves his wife very much and tries to do the good thing despite being set up to fail. 10/10 give this man a white flower

Q1 - How did you discover Sengoku Basara? i've always vaguely known of the franchise thanks to my prior love of capcom, but it wasn't until i became acutely aware of oichi enough to bite the bullet and try getting into the franchise a couple of sessions of sumeragi and a season of anime later i just fell super hard into the franchise LOL it's only been about a year since then, but i still have so much of the franchise to experience!!! 🥹 (also helps that I was already a fan of musou games)

Q2 - Favourite game?

all things considered it's probably SB4S. it just clicks with me, it's the most fun i've had with a musou. the gameplay is crazy smooth, it has almost every character, music is great, what's not to love? i also have a soft spot for Sengoku Basara X. as jank as it may be, the fighting game lover in me just can't resist an arcsys fighter. Q3 - Least Favourite game?

Q5 : Least favorite character ?

So yeah as I said yesterday, I love mostly equally all SB characters though I did use to hate Hanbei quite strongly bc his simping while playing smartass was annoying me as hell

Nowadays I like him and think he's a great character, esp since I played SB2; but I guess I still like him less than the other chara, no hate though !!

I feel like the fact he's annoying is a sign that his character is effective, bc he clearly doesn't try to be friendly or sympathetic, he's good as his job, and Hideyoshi and him share something together that he doesn't give a shit if ppl don't understand

In that, I feel like the relationship between Hideyoshi and Hanbei is meant to parallel Masamune's and Kojûrô's

Difference being that Kojûrô has pledged his life to make Bontenmaru someone who could rule the skies, that's his vow, so that's why he has that weird position as both a mentor and a second hand man

I feel like Hanbei on the other hand wouldn't stand for someone he feels is unworthy of his skill, he's not here to teach someone, he's here to pledge his life to the person he feels is strong enough to rule Japan ; which is Hideyoshi

In the end that's what makes their conflict in S2 of IG interesting to me, bc sure they're both very loyal smart second hand man, but ideologically they couldn't be more different

ANYWAY Hanbei and I are cool. He's a good character, and he's also super fun to play in SB2. And goddamn his chara design is something else, love the super bitchy expressions

I wanted to put a picture of him from the anime chibi bonus but couldn't remember the name for the life of me so get my one coin grande fig instead

Okay so I've been seeing ppl doing follow ups/giving different characters for the favorite character question of the basara challenge so I wanted to add my fav girlies section hehe sorry for the spam

-> Itsuki is a close favorite of mine !!! She's my communist daughter I think it's so cool that she gets to fight and defeat Nobunaga herself

-> Though I wish she was given more agency overall, esp in anime, Oichi is really a character I love for her design, her gameplay and her super bleak story in SB2H

-> And I'll finish with Tsuruhime she's so cool and cute and fun and her dynamic with Motochika is among my favorite, love their siblind like banter and the stupid versus stupid rivalry

Senbasa 30 Day Challenge: Day Four

Bonus after the answer to:

Who is your favorite character?

I mean scroll down a bit and I think you'll have your answer, but Mitsunari! I can't help but to find his storyline interesting as someone who's experienced some serious betrayal previously, and it breaks my heart so much to see how fucked up Ieyasu left him. I'd say he's my comfort character who's never had an ounce of comfort once in his life, but that's the tragedy of him; he DID have comfort once, in the Toyotomi found family faction, and having it torn away is and has fucked him up. Also I can't help but to find some inherent comedy in a guy so serious. He's my Beautiful Princess with A (rage) Disorder (gender neutral). He's Blorbo from my Games. He Needs Soup.

A good runner-up is Oichi, another comfort character who's tragedy is having her one comfort ripped away. Hope it's not too bad a trend. I miss her naginata she had in Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes, it's so cool to me that it can split in two and that you can swing one half with the other, I remember spending SO much time in college pondering how I could get that to practically work for cosplay in college (not that it bore tangible fruit).

Other runners up are Yoshitsugu and Kanbe, really love the friendship Yoshitsugu and Mitsunari share, and Kanbe is the most muscular sopping wet kitten I've ever seen, top tier babygirl material right here

SenBasa 30 Day Challenge

Q4: Favorite Character?

Date Masamune has been my fav for so long, he’s the reason I fell in love with the series.

I also love Yukimura, I loved watching his character grow over the course of both SenBasa 3 and the anime.

I’m including a favorite female character as well, which is Saika Magoichi. She is such a badass.

tbh impossible to just pick one because, i'm genuine about this, i have so much love for almost all senbasa characters so ugh why am i even doing this to myself, but okay

so my favorite favorite is masamune

maybe a little too biased but i have my excuses for it in which i'm not gonna write because i'm jank and there's so many reasons to love the guy, but to put simply, his pain in the ass attitude, his growth, his soft side, his eagerness, and in my case, the way he handles the sword hits hard to me (i'm weak for samurais with particular sword handling ik it's weird)

and i have to say this because i don't wanna leave them in the dark, but kojuro and yukimura are fighting for second place, because they own my whole heart and i love them, and they're precious

Q4 : Least favorite game ?

(well actually it's Q3 bc I'm a dumbass who can't read)

So I took all the games even the ones I haven't played, I'd pick the one that I want to play the least which is Yukimura-den (I usually don't like the concept of reboots), but if I talk only about the ones I played that would be Utage 🤔

My reasonning being that since I consider SB2H to be a game of its own apart from SB2, I have the same standarts for Utage and generally I just feel like they could have added more content, and it was a bit disappointing that the new stories were only three chapters longs. I also feel like the menu and character selection looks a bit ugly compared the the usual game.

Though I still don't consider it bad, I love the addition of a new difficulty, and I feel like finally getting to play some oldies character with a full upgraded set is satisfying af. Kojûrô feels sooo good to play !!!

Today part of my collection shall be this very random DVD I got from Vinted. I think it contains some clips and a captation of some seiyuu event 🤔 haven't watched it yet but I think it was originaly part of some SB2H special edition on the ps2.

I've been considering purchasing a japanese ps2 in order to play the SB games that aren't available on ps3 but I don't think they're worth the investment so idk
