200kg/440lbs x1 (beltless) After three months not training because I lost interest, I’m back. It’s my second week of training back so over the horrific DOMs part and decided to push it slightly today and work to a comfortable beltless single (despite nursing a hangover). Pretty happy with this, seem to have not lost as much strength as I thought I would. #deadlift #powerlifting #training #gym #fitness #strength (at Cardiff University Students' Union)

195kg/430lbs for two sets of 6. So yeah, I'm not dead. I took over a month off from training, due to field work commitments, lack of motivation, etc. Slowly getting back into it, started again last week and adding a little weight each session. Still a way down from where I was but could be worse.

Top end single at 90% (230kg/507lbs) today, bar got away from me and made it feel/look more like 105%. Not following a program right now, just messing around and keeping things ticking over. Still not really enjoying training to be honest, hopefully it comes back soon.

220kg/485lbs x 5. At least deadlifts are going well.

160kg/353lbs for 3 sets of 5. Really struggling to find motivation for the gym at the moment. I think it showed with these squats, 160 shouldn't have been as hard as todays sets were.

Did a little dumbbell bench work today. 45kg/100lb dumbbells for 7 reps, wanted 8 but I bitched out on the final rep.

200kg/441lbs x 10 I think this is a PB, but I lose track. I had a couple more in me but didn't want to get too spicy. Just messing around at the moment until I start another program, but this is why I don't self regulate; I suck at it.

100kg/220lbs x 7. Was supposed to be 8 but I miscounted. Did a load of bench volume today, this was the top set of pyramid sets. Lost 2kg of bodyweight so far, down to ~79kg/174lbs.

May I ask how old you are now and how old you were when you started lifting. Do you maybe have some tips for teenaged lifters?
I’m 23. I first went to a gym when I was 15, had no idea what I was doing and quit 6 months later. I didn’t go to the gym again until I was 18, but I was obese and I started by losing 25kg/55lbs of fat.
Best tip for teenaged lifters is to pace yourself. Do your reading online, there is tonnes of resources for good programs aimed at beginner lifters. The best program for you will depend on what you enjoy, what you want out of it (strength, aesthetics, athletic ability, etc.), and how often you want to train. A general tip though, is that single body part splits are not a good way to train. You want to be hitting body parts two times a week at a minimum. I personally like Upper/Lower splits, they work for me.It goes for everyone, not just teenagers, but try not to let your ego get the better of you. Watch videos to learn good form, practice good form in the gym, and record yourself to see if your form is ok. You will always be able to improve your form. Oh, and don’t max out too often.
You can PM me if you want more specific help.

Then did some light-ish deadlifts with controlled descents: 180kg/400lbsx5.

Squat: 180kg/400lbs x 3. First time squatting in 8 weeks; so naturally I did a triple with 85% of my max. Happy with how it moved, considering I'm rusty. Also, the cut has begun and is going well. Lost a couple of pounds of bloat/water weight this week with the shift in eating habits.

Failed my PB attempt with 132kg/291lbs, so tripled it with the slanger instead. Going to cut down to 75kg now. Oh, and excuse the nawty little up-short angle.
