COC: Journey So Far #1

Long time no see, huh? Yeah, I know. My bad. Life's been a whirlwind lately, and that thread issue was like a constant migraine. But hey, it's sorted now. Happened a few days ago actually. The reason? Well, let's just say it was... interesting. But I'm not here to rant, so let's leave it at that.

Now, onto the main stuff. This will be long so…

I've changed the name of the game. Might change it again, who knows? The universe's name probably won't change though, because everything starts and ends with The Golden Throne. All the events are happening because of it, for it. But hey, if you come up with a cool name that fits the bill, I'm all ears!

The first book, for now, is called Crown of Conquest. As the name suggests, there's gonna be some conquering done by our MC due to politics, scheming, and a whole lot of other reasons. So yeah, war is coming. Not as big as you might think, but it'll set the stage for violence, gore, and all that jazz. I want you guys to get a taste of how wars are fought in this universe. I don't want anyone caught off guard when the big wars happen.

Back to the topic, progress has been slow. I'm at about 10k words right now. Why so slow? Well, between studies and other less productive activities {yeah, I'm looking at you, Girl (if you are reading this)}, writing has taken a backseat. But I'm planning to update this twice before Hot D season 2 releases. So now, I'm gonna write as much as possible.

Remember the Gazebo scene? Yeah, that was a tough one. Some of you were upset, saying it was torture, misery for the MC. I did give warnings several times before the scene happened but still, some folks were taken aback. In this game, there will be several scenes which will be morally complicated for characters. I've written these lines in my rework too but I'm gonna share here so you might understand the concept of this game:

"This is the reality of your position, the reality of power. It’s not just about wearing a crown; it’s about making decisions that can change lives. It’s about carrying the weight of those decisions, living with the consequences. It’s about understanding that every choice you make will have an impact, will create ripples that will touch everyone around you. It’s about realizing that sometimes, there are no right choices, only less wrong ones. And it’s about having the courage to make those choices, no matter how difficult they may be."

That's the whole point of this game.

As for the asks, there are 40+ of them. Most are ROs related. I know I said I'd answer them, but I don't want to spoil the personalities of the ROs before your first meeting with them. So, I'll wait till your first interactions with the ROs are done. Other asks related to history and world are so good. Seriously, you guys have some very interesting and damn good theories and questions. I can't believe how much you all thought from this small 100k WIP. They are so fun to read. And the rest of the asks, bug related and other stuff, don't worry. I know about them, and they will be resolved in the rework. I'm also going to drop our Mentor's details along with their portraits soon. So, be ready for it.

What are your visions for the female MC will she gonna face challenges because of being a girl? or this universe will treat her same as male MC.

First off, thank you for your question. It’s a deep one, but I’m ready to dive in!

For now, the female MC is safe and sound in the northern kingdom. But once she steps out into the wider world, things will get a bit more challenging. She might face some undermining due to her gender. I could take the easy route and make the male and female MCs identical, but where’s the fun in that? I want you to experience and confront the real problems in this game. I aim to focus on reality as much as possible.

This goes for the male MCs too. They’ll also face challenges, like if they’re not very masculine or if they’re not strong enough, they might be teased and undermined. These real problems will start when you take the throne. So, both the MCs, whether they’re male or female, will be undermined and somewhat bullied if they don’t meet the standards.

Now, let’s delve a bit deeper. There are queens ruling in Verdonia, but they’re few and far between. Each one is undermined for being a female. Only those who’ve earned fear and respect rule almost without any hindrances. But if they make even a small mistake, people will blame them for being female. Moreover, if the queens don’t have husbands, their rule is not considered legitimate. Misogyny in this world is common, with nobles doing it with nobles, royalties, and commoners, while the commoners mostly do it with fellow commoners. 😔

So, both female and male MCs have their own challenges to face. But remember, every challenge is an opportunity for growth.

I’m a huge fan of angst in stories, so I totally get where you’re coming from. Even the characters you can only have flings with will develop feelings and might go to extreme lengths if they can’t have you. 😱💔

As for the main ROs, I want to give you a plethora of options for romance. I’m still figuring out the best way to proceed, but rest assured, you’ll have plenty of choices. So, don’t worry, you can definitely play as an oblivious MC. And here’s a little tip: if you want to add some extra fun to the mix, try choosing the imperious personality with angst. I wanted to ask if, since special ROs now gender selectable, you will make difference in female/male version of characters aside from pronounces? I'm not a big fun of gender selectable ROs because... they don't have what non-selectable have? Yeah. It's a bit hard for me, because I planned to romance prince Aelius...

Now, onto your question about gender-selectable ROs. No need to worry, my friend! A male character is going to be a male, and a female character is going to be a female. Their nature, actions, and almost everything else will be the same. But when it comes to distinguishing between male and female, they will be different and they will sound like one too.

Let me clarify a bit more. When I say they will act according to their gender, I don’t mean I’ll follow the same stereotypes regarding male and female. Like, the male one isn’t always the strong, silent type, and the female one isn’t always the damsel in distress. They will be very similar, but their gender will make the difference. So, if you want to romance a prince, you will romance a prince!

And this same thing will happen with the MC too, but it will come later in the story. So, stay tuned! 📻

Hey there love your game, its so good I can't wait to read further and I wanna ask why do you only use GOT memes well there are so many memes out there which you can use to express your emotions, I mean its just a suggestion and btw its really really better then KAE the MC is a wimp and a joker in that one, at least the MC you created is manly and badass. I identify as a female, but I really like to play as a male MC in games and I always wanted my MCs to be strong and you just did that. I personally play KAE and it's my favorite work-in-progress. If you have issues with it, I urge you to address them directly with the author, Fated Flame (@kingdoms-and-empires). Finally a dark fantasy which is really gonna be dark, I am sick of reading those other so called dark fantasies which just have some stupid jokes only which they call dark. First of all wow bro its so good I don't have words to describe it, the gazebo scene was so good I re-read it 5 times till now and I am finding it interesting it every time. The library scene was good too, I have never set my MC's value like this before in any game, The fighting scene was awesome but its buggy, At a certain point the game just freezes and I can't do anything. I have just a small request to you please make the ros gender-selectable if not all the ros at least the special ros I really want to romance a female bastard princess. I am so in love. And at last I just have a small complain please add more choices and try to remove the long walls of text, its just my suggestion regardless I love your game and your writing style.

Second of all, got two more questions relating to the family!

1. Is Queen Alessandra from the local (Northern Kingdom's) nobility or is she part of the foreign nobility?

2. I've noticed that both the Imperial House and the Royal House of the Northern Kingdom share a suffix in their dynastic names (Draconithorn and Glacialthorn). Is this a recent thing as King Aric became the heir to the empire or is it an old (so to speak) last name? Is the Glacialthorn Royal House a distantly related branch of the Imperial House?

Your questions are very observant, and I must say, they’re some of my favorite ones to answer. They could be a bit spoiler-y, but I’ll do my best to answer them without giving too much away.

Queen Alessandra was indeed a princess of another kingdom. Her marriage caused quite a stir on the continent, and a war was on the brink of happening because of it. But more on that will come later in the story. 😉

Ah, the thorn in the names. This is a bit of a spoiler, but I did promise to answer your question. So, yes, the Glacialthorn Royal House is a distantly related branch of the Imperial House. About a thousand years ago, three brothers came to the continent and conquered it, extinguishing 25-27 old dynasties and 11 kingdoms in the process. The eldest brother became the emperor, and the other two brothers went to the ends of the continents to found their own dynasties and kingdoms. Now, there are only eight kingdoms left because the emperor divided them among their supporters. Many other dynasties were reduced to nobility status as a punishment. The ‘thorn’ part is where they landed on the continent. They named it ‘thorn’, and the reason will be revealed later in the story. Two brothers kept it in their new surnames, the third one didn’t because… well, that’s a spoiler. 😉
