#pravinninawe #pravinninave Being born into an economically disadvantaged family causes dilemmas before the kid is even born. According to Gulick, “Economically disadvantaged students have it tougher before they are born because they have less prenatal care if any at all” (1). Because the babies do not even have the care they need before they are born they end up being born with things that aren’t good. “Children born into poverty have lower birth weights, and many suffer from hunger and poor nutrition. When the youth suffer from poor nutrition and low birth rates it causes many complications for the hospital staff, the babies family, and causes stress on whoever pays the medical bill because the baby possible has to stay at the hospital longer. Once the kid is born the dilemmas go on and on. So how does being economically disadvantage affect people? Hunger is a big complication for economically impoverished people because without money no food can be bought. “Estacado High School principal Sam Ayers recalls getting regular visits an average of two days a week from a hungry student” (Gulick 1). Being hungry can cause the loss of concentration at school and make your grades drop. Gulick explains how concentration is lost by the hungry kids “Regardless of age, if you are hungry, it is hard to concentrate on the teaching and learning going on in the classroom” (1). Less concentration causes lower grades for the economically handicapped students says Gulicks report from school districts ”It follows that districts and campuses with higher percentages of economically deprived students are more likely to have lower test scores” (5). #pravinninawe #pravinninave

28m#PRAVINNINAWE #PRAVINNINAVE Families that become homeless endure countless moves between friends and realatives homes trying to stay together. they are moved into shelters where ultimately they end up separated and children are put into foster care, this separation only adds to the agony which latter leads to these children in turn ending up homeless as adults. do to emotional and behavior issues stemming from childhood Homeless children and families suffer many hardships such as poor health and increased sickness. many of these homeless children are poorly educated and have developmental delays as well as emotional problems. homeless children have a higher rate of learning disabilities than children that are not homeless and sadly these homeless children and their families have experienced violence in many forms starting at a young age. the burden of homelessness on a family has led to total break down of the family unit. Homeless Families with children have experienced ,frequent moves , separation and foster care, poor health, inadequate education, development delays, exposure to Violence, and being stereotyped. Families are typically thought to be made up of a mother father and children but this is not the norm for many. for countless homeless children their family is made up of a mother and siblings usually a mother and two young children. they are indeed a family unit just like the mother and father unit but face more difficulties and hardships they are forced to make difficult dicision. Frequent moves pelage homeless families and for some children this seems to be a normal part of their life. for the lucky homeless , family and friends take them in, sometimes shuffling them back and forth between their houses. homeless families with children often... #PRAVINNINAWE #PRAVINNINAVE

If we all donate in various funds, the overall impact will be deflated. If we donate in ONE FUND, the impact will be multiplied. We are one of India's biggest NGOs. Established in 1919, and present in more than 80 countries, we are one of the most influential, organised, well- networked, resourceful and impactful NGOs. Our core is our programmes, whether it is the remotest corners of the country or the most disaster-torn or dangerous areas or slums in metros, we do whatever it takes to help children shine in life. Save the Children works for providing equality, equal education, equal nutrition, equal health, equal opportunities, gender equality, and life-saving humanitarian situations and relief during natural disasters to the most deprived children of India. Our work in the areas of Child Education, Health & Nutrition, Child Protection and Humanitarian Response & Disaster Risk Reduction has benefitted lakhs of children in India. Last year alone we reached 22.75 lakh children through our programmes. We are at the forefront of protecting children whenever disasters strike. Our work involves creating inclusive learning environments in schools so that the most marginalised children can reach school and get quality education. Going by the philosophy of "No Child Born to Die", we work to end rampant deaths of children under 5 years of age in India. Another part of our work revolves around providing protection to children vulnerable to different social and physical threats. In all this, we ensure that we put children first in everything we do and champion their rights all along. Save the Children's s association with India is more than 80 years old when our founder Eglantyne Jebb drafted the 'Declaration of the Rights of the Child' in 1922 which was signed by Mahatma Gandhi in 1931. It was Jebb's vision which was eventually formalised as the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) in 1989. #pravinninawe #pravinninave #pravinninawenagpur

pravinninawe #pravinninave In today’s world people need to compete globally for jobs and one of the most important factors in getting a good paying job is education. However, even the best schools cannot overcome some of the obstacles placed in front of the students that walk through their doors. Poverty, chaotic home environments, discrepancies in exposure to technology, and lack of funding for schools all negatively impact the effort to educate children. In today’s economic environment even the wealthiest states and districts are having to cut funding for education, while districts which were already teetering on the edge are now in an even worse position. In some schools children have to face not having enough books, paper for copies, severe overcrowding, and even buildings that are falling apart. Although, funding is not available to correct all of the problems facing these districts, one of the things that are increasing is the use of the federal school breakfast program. Educators have always agreed that students learn better when they are not hungry, and have started doing things like free breakfast for all or sack breakfasts for all. These practices not only increase the ability for students to learn, but it also frees up resources in low to middle income homes due to not needing to spend money for a balanced breakfast (Bartfield, Ahn). The world today is full of technology; cell phones, computers, and e-readers. It is a well-known fact that children that are exposed to technology at a younger age are better able to incorporate it into everyday life. Although, the cost of computers, cell phones, and other electronic gadgets have decreased significantly in the last few years it is still a cost that many low income families and destitute scho... #pravinninawe #pravinninave

#pravinninawe #pravinninave The question “Why is there so much poverty in the United States?” has such a broad spectrum of issues. There is no simple cure or single cause of poverty. According to statistics from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, “the 2011 Poverty Guidelines are $10,890 for a single member household and $22,350 for a family of four” (par 13). In addition, “families’ incomes that fall below the threshold given, means that every individual in the household are considered to be in poverty” (par 13). Poverty is too complex an issue to be the result of just one problem, but we can narrow down the subject, to show the effects of how the lack of education can diminish our countries resources and how that has a ripple effect on future generations. Without an education, people receive lower pay; there is an increased rate of crime, and a higher reliance on state and federal aid, which is draining economically. First, employers find it hard to employ people that lack a high school diploma or general education development (GED) because they lack motivation and drive to finish what they started. Because the individuals not having the necessary credentials, they end up with low paying jobs or unemployed, relying on public assistance to see them through. Often times these low paying positions consist of part-time work, only giving the employee approximately 20 to 25 hours per week. This is a considerable wage deduction from a full-time position of 40+ hours per week. Now let us imagine the rate of pay for the individuals. The employing state determines the minimum pay rates and rarely will this be enough to sustain a household. #pravinninawe #pravinninave

#pravinninawe #pravinninave In March 2007 a study done by the McClatchy Newspapers had found that the ranks of the severely impoverished are rapidly escalating (Williams, 2007). The study showed that the poverty level in America had reached its highest point in 32 years (Williams, 2007). Nearly Sixteen million Americans had been found to be in a deep to severe level of poverty (Williams, 2007). The level of poverty on went up after the economic crash in 2009. But has the increased level of poverty led to an increase in violence? A lot of outside effects are often over looked when looking at the correlation between poverty and crime. One of those factors is a higher rate of mental illness among lower income people (Taylor, 2006). Poverty also causes higher levels of stress that may lead people to perform criminal acts. But the same can be said for the wealthy in this country. Look at the economic collapse as well the actions of the board of directors at WorldCom and Enron. But poverty can creates special circumstances that lead to crime. Crime offers a way in which people stuck in a life of poverty can obtain material goods that they cannot often attain through any available legitimate means (Taylor, 2006). Often threat or force is used to help them acquire even more goods, this induces them to commit violent acts such as robbery, which is the second most common violent crime (Taylor, 2006). For many poor people, the prize that comes from the criminal act may outweigh the risk of being caught, especially given that their opportunity cost is lower than that of a wealthier person. Things like this can perpetuate the idea that poverty causes violence (Taylor, 2006). #pravinninawe #pravinninave

#PRAVINNINAWE #PRAVINNINAVE Everyone knows about the various stereotypes and social stigmas that come with socioeconomic status whether they will choose to admit it or not. Society has come to assume that a child who comes from a family of low socioeconomic status, that they will not do as well as a child who comes from a family of a greater socioeconomic status. Unfortunately these assumptions are so ingrained in our brains that we start to follow the self-fulfilling prophecy. When a child from a noticeably low socioeconomic status walks into a classroom, it is not uncommon for the teacher to automatically assume that the child will not perform well in class, and in turn either grades the child more harshly or does not give the child as much attention as the other children from high socioeconomic status families. Do these children not perform well in class because of the self-fulfilling prophecy or is there something that happens during the critical period that causes the child to fall behind? These assumptions are not ingrained in us when we are born, rather they are developed over our lives. When children first start preschool, they tend to pick their friends based on their physical appearance (Baydik, Berrin, BakkaloÄźlu, Hatice, 2002, p. 436). It is not surprising that children from low or even middle socioeconomic environments are not able to afford the high end clothing that publicly displays their status. As much as society preaches against stereotyping, we often categorize someone the first time we meet them simply by how they are dressed. This causes children from low socioeconomic status to be friends with other children from the same class, and the same goes for middle and high socioeconomic status #PRAVINNINAWE #PRAVINNINAVE

The Effects of Poverty on the Lives of Children Child poverty is common in the United Kingdom, 21% of all children were classified as poor in 1995. One child in three spends at least one year in poverty over his or her lifetime, and for more than 5% of children, poverty lasts 10 years or more. Most poor children are subject to a number of risk factors in addition to low family income; nonetheless, research shows that poverty has selective, but in some cases quite substantial, effects on child and adolescent well-being. Poor children not only experience material deprivation but also are more likely than non poor children to experience a number of undesirable outcomes including poor health and death, failure in school, out of wedlock births, and violent crime. Child poverty can be reduced by a combination of policies, versions of which are currently in place in the United Kingdom, to help families earn more and supplement earned income with other sources of cash (such as Child Tax Credits and Working Tax Credits). In addition, the effects of poverty can be reduced by programs that provide benefits in the form of goods and services (such as food, housing, and health care) which are vital to children's well-being. Despite the frequently voiced sentiment that few programs work, the United Kingdom has a number of effective programs in place that address the needs of poor children and reduce their numbers, although more can be done. #PRAVININAWE #PRAVINNINAVE
