On this momentous occasion of Youm-e-Takbeer, I extend my heartfelt felicitations to the entire nation. Today, we observe the 27th anniversary of Youm-e-Takbeer – a day when we demonstrated our nuclear capabilities and established strategic deterrence. This day serves as a reminder of our commitment to safeguarding the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of our beloved country.
Today, we pay rich tribute to our scientists, engineers, and civil and military leadership, whose dedication and commitment made this achievement possible. We also pay tribute to Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who laid the foundation of Pakistan’s nuclear programme, which made the country’s defence impregnable. We also acknowledge the role of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, whose stewardship further advanced and strengthened our nuclear programme.
Becoming a nuclear power was not merely a demonstration of our technological advancement—it was a calculated decision to ensure peace through strength, to maintain the strategic balance in South Asia, and to protect our nation against any external aggression. In today’s evolving regional security situation, our nuclear capability continues to serve as a credible minimum deterrent that guarantees our peace and ensures that no one can undermine our sovereignty and national security.
Pakistan does not seek conflict and is committed to the principles of peaceful coexistence and respect for international law. In the face of recent unprovoked Indian aggression, Pakistan demonstrated its strategic patience and commitment to peace. Our calibrated response, under Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, was measured and effective, which forced the enemy to cease its hostile actions.
As we commemorate Youm-e-Takbeer, let us renew our pledge to uphold and safeguard the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country.

Message of the Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Labour Day May 1, 2025:
Today, as the nation observes Labor Day, Pakistan reaffirms its unwavering commitment to promoting safe, healthy, and dignified conditions for its workers — the real driving force behind our nation’s growth and resilience.
The protection of fundamental labor rights is enshrined in our Constitution and fully aligns with the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) core conventions, to which Pakistan is a responsible signatory.
In pursuit of these ideals, Pakistan has taken significant legislative and administrative reforms to further strengthen workers’ protections. We have ratified key international labour conventions, including the 2014 Protocol to the Forced Labour Convention and the Maritime Labour Convention, while advancing new commitments on occupational safety and health.
For the first time, every worker in Pakistan benefits from a National Occupational Safety and Health Profile, ensuring safer, healthier workplaces across the country.
Our government has taken important steps to broaden the coverage and impact of institutions such as the Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) and the Workers Welfare Fund (WWF), ensuring that the fruits of our labor protections are shared more equitably across all segments of the workforce.
Through digitization and labour law reforms, we are building a future where every worker has access to dignity, safety, and opportunity. At the same time, skill development initiatives, particularly through the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) and the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authorities (TEVTAs), are being expanded, with a special focus on empowering youth and women with demand-driven vocational training.
On this important day, I urge all stakeholders, including employers, workers, civil society, and government to join hands in building a culture that respects labour, upholds their rights, and create opportunities of decent work for all.

Message from Asif Ali Zardari, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on the occasion of International Labour Day, 1st May 2025:
On International Labour Day, we pay tribute to the contributions, struggles, and sacrifices of our working men and women who have played an important role in the development of our country. This day reminds us of the historic struggle waged by workers around the world for their rights and dignity.
Today, we reaffirm our commitment to their empowerment, fair wages, safe working conditions, and social protection. Our labourers and working classes are the driving force of our economy and national development. They build our infrastructure, run our industries, cultivate our lands, and move our economy forward. It is our workers who sustain our manufacturing industries, agriculture, small and medium enterprises, government and other public sectors. Our workers are our pride, and we owe our national development to their hard work and contributions. In today’s rapidly changing world, the key to securing a brighter future for our youth and workers lies in their skill development. We need to equip our workers and youth with modern skills to meet the challenges of an ever-changing job market.
I call upon governments, private enterprises, educational institutions, and civil society to collaborate in creating a comprehensive ecosystem for the skill development of our labour. I also urge employers, trade unions, civil society, and the public sector to join hands in creating a just labour ecosystem and work for the welfare and uplift of workers. Let us honour our workers through meaningful policies, inclusive development, and a culture that respects labour in all its forms.

Message from Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, on Kashmir Solidarity Day, 5 February 2025:
The Government and people of Pakistan annually observe the ‘Kashmir Solidarity Day’ to renew their steadfast support to the Kashmiri people’s just and legitimate struggle for realization of their right to self-determination.
The right to self-determination is a fundamental principle of international law. Every year, the UN General Assembly adopts a resolution that stresses the legal right of people to decide their own destiny. Regrettably, the Kashmiri people have not been able to exercise this inalienable right, notwithstanding the passage of last seventy-eight years.
Today, the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK)remains one of the most-militarized zones in the world. Kashmiris are living in an environment of fear and intimidation. Political activists and human rights defenders face prolonged detention and confiscation of properties. The political parties, representing the genuine aspirations of the Kashmiri people, have been banned. The intent of these oppressive measures is to crush dissent.
India is also taking steps to consolidate its illegal occupation of the IIOJK. Following its illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019, India’s efforts have been aimed at engineering demographic and political changes so that the Kashmiris transform into a disempowered community in their own land.
The recent developments in the Middle East amply show that the long-standing disputes should not be allowed to fester. A lasting peace cannot be achieved by suppressing the genuine aspirations of the local people. In the interest of durable peace in South Asia, the international community should urge India to allow the Kashmiri people to freely determine their own future.
I wish to reiterate that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute will remain a key pillar of our foreign policy. Pakistan will continue to offer its unwavering moral, diplomatic and political support to the Kashmiri people till the realization of their right to self-determination, as enshrined in the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
I also avail myself of this opportunity to salute the resolve and courage of the valiant Kashmiri people, who continue to render innumerable sacrifices in their struggle to achieve their fundamental rights and freedoms.

Message from Asif Ali Zardari, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, on Kashmir Solidarity Day, 5 February 2025:
Every year, on 5th February, the people of Pakistan reaffirm solidarity with their Kashmiri brothers and sisters. On this day, we renew our unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s just and legitimate struggle for the realization of their inalienable right to self-determination.
The Jammu and Kashmir dispute is one of the oldest unresolved international disputes as India continues to occupy large parts of Jammu and Kashmir against the will of the local people. The situation took a turn for the worse, following India’s illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019, which are aimed at transforming Kashmiris into a disempowered community in their own land. Today, India is making efforts to consolidate its occupation of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) through a series of administrative, judicial and legislative measures. However, these actions cannot suppress the Kashmiri people’s indomitable desire for self-determination.’
Over the last 78 years, Kashmiris have rendered countless sacrifices to exercise their democratic right to determine their own future. On this day, I pay rich tribute to the resilience of the Kashmiri people in the face of state terrorism and oppression. The human rights situation in IIOJK is grim as India is denying the Kashmiris their fundamental rights and freedoms and subjecting them to severe state repression and violence. The people of IIOJK are living in an environment of fear and intimidation and the true representatives of the Kashmiri people remain incarcerated. The Indian security forces use excessive force to brutally victimise political activists and human rights defenders. Media has been silenced through coercion. However, no amount of oppression can dent the determination of the Kashmiris and undermine their legitimate struggle.
This day reminds the international community of its responsibility towards the oppressed Kashmiri people. The United Nations must honour the commitments it had made 77 years ago and support the Kashmiri people’s struggle for self-determination.
Pakistan will always stand shoulder to shoulder with the Kashmiri brothers and sisters. We will continue to extend our full moral, diplomatic and political support to their just struggle for the realization of their right to self-determination, as enshrined in the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
