Oh hey it's been aaaaaaggggeeeesssss since I've really been on here much, so have a quick life update:
I broke my neck and almost died in a car crash 3 months ago!
#i got suuuuper lucky and didn't even get paralysed#although it was 3 entire days before i even sat up#and 7 weeks in a neck brace#at the crash i thought i was watching my boyfriend die#he was blacking in and out for a while#turns out he actually got off lightly with some torn muscles and probable cracked ribs and concussion#and i wouldn't exactly recommend it as a way to strengthen a reasonably new relationship#but hey it worked we mow know for certain that we want to spend the rest of our lives together#i've got most of the movement back by now and can even mostly drink without needing a straw anymore

found out last night about the cricket player Don Bradman, whose batting average of 99.94% is “the greatest achievement by any sportsman in any major sport”, nearly a full 40 points above the second best player. Apparently they had to invent a whole new type of defense to try and deal with this dude.
I have no idea how cricket works but it’s hilarious that the best sportsman who ever lived chose to play British baseball of all things.

Created by Murray Ball for his comic strip series, ‘Footrot Flats,’ the sheepdog simply known as Dog was born on October 13th 1978 in a dirty clothes box at Aunt Dolly’s holiday home for cats in Tauranga.
Dog now spends his days on the farm and can be found with his best friend, Wallace (Wal’) Footrot, and a cast of friends and foes, in over 1000 strips, a stage play adaptation, an animated feature, and a life sized statue.

Look at these amazingly detailed moths by Clemens Söllner, made with inlays of different kinds of wood! Aaaaahhhh! I just love the way the woodgrain textures flow, and it's clear how much love and care went into depicting these beautiful creatures so intricately!
Top moth is Ochropleura plecta, middle is Actinotia polyodon, and bottom is Ceramica pisi.
