literally every time i stop watching the news some crazy shit happens

me earlier this year: “the news is vapid, sensationalistic, fearmongering garbage. I’m done watching the news!”

news: global pandemic breaks out. cities under lockdown.

me last week: “okay that global pandemic shit was some crazy shit, but the news is still vapid, sensationalistic, fearmongering trash. maybe i’ll check in like once every few weeks or if there’s like an emergency or something, but other than that, I’m done watching the news.”

news: nationwide mass protests and civil unrest break out. cities under curfew.

me a few weeks from now: “well, ok. the protests have finally died down somewhat. the news is still sensationalistic garbage. no more news for me!”

news: large hadron collider explodes. cities absorbed into other dimension.

me: “dammit!”
