Tumblr! My friends, it's been a minute since I've asked you all for a favor but I would appreciate some assistance! You see, I am working on a secret project to create a custom MTG booster pack for my guy as a reunion gift for when we get to see each other again at the end of the year/beginning of next year (tragic separated by the government love story happening right here - not the sort of romantic yearning I wanted in my own love life at all) I really really hesitate to use ai art for even a custom personal use only project like this because the ethics just don't really sit right with me. However! I also cannot spend a great amount on commissions because sadly I am not well off enough for that, and a booster pack is like 15 cards! And so I'm trying to figure out what my best budget options might be to find an artist to work with and I'm not sure what my options are beyond maybe scouting deviant art? I don't want to undervalue anyone's work, not ever, but I also just can't afford so spend the money on creating the custom pack of my dreams for him so I'm trying my best to find a middle ground here So if you have any suggestions for finding artists who can work in fantasy/fairytale/storybook TCG styles (bonus if they maybe know MTG) I would super extremely appreciate it. Point me in a direction! (I probably need to get this project finished and printed by November so time is really of the essence when it comes to finding an artist I suspect)

Whenever my aunt springs her insane superstitious/religious cures on me I specifically remember when I was 17 and she got me exorcised. The priest was like "I don't think she's possessed" and she insisted "well there's something wrong with her, she's always [symptoms of depression] so..."

And the guy said some verses and touched my head and stuff then said I should drink only holy water for an entire week. Which wasn't hard to do, but my fav part of this whole experience was me saying I want to eat instant noodles and my aunt going "I'll make them for you. With the holy water he gave us." And then I had holy instant noodles

If nothing else, as a historian every time I get scared at the state of the world I have to remind myself that "uninteresting times" is a myth.

The world has always been in the throes of chaos and violence and fear, just in different ways and to different degrees. The anxieties of the past are no less real than our own, and we can learn from them. Normality and peace are fleeting, but we can always strive to increase those moments. We have to keep hoping and working for a better future. It's all we have. We may not succeed, but if we don't try, what are we living for?
