But yes I am Irish, I'm from the south of the country. Still live here, although I did live in Germany for a year while I was in college. I follow the hurling of course, but Donegal for the football (have to do my mammy proud 💚💛) Honestly, part of what pulled me to Aston (then racing point) was the fact they used to be Jordan and then it just felt right and here I am still supporting them

Hi! I know I said I was done ranting, but then I was scrolling through the tags and saw this and got pissed off, so let’s talk about it!

(Now, I do feel the need to mention before I get into my rant, that the answer to this anon disagreed with anon and did point out the blatant xenophobia toward Esteban. But I’m here to talk about the what anon said, so, I didn’t include the answer in this screenshot).

Now,

“He’s got about the same amount of Chinese heritage as Esteban has Algerian” is a wild thing to say. Oscar is only “1/16” Chinese, as he has said many times. Esteban is literally half Algerian. His mother’s name is Sabrina Khelfane. He has very strong and very prominent North African/Arab features.

Also, no one has ever hated on or made fun of Oscar for his ethnicity. No one even mentions it unless they’re making “home race” jokes. But people do make hit tweets joking about Esteban being a terrorist and saying he’s “not a real Frenchman.” So tell me again how that’s not xenophobia and/or racism. I implore you to find me literally any other explanation.

I mean, yes. Esteban is white passing. And that does give him an advantage. But I get really tired of seeing him left out of the xenophobia/racism conversation when it’s so blatant sometimes but people turn a blind eye to it because it’s Esteban Ocon and they can’t be fucked to do anything but make “ten second penalty” jokes where he’s concerned.

Anyway. User formula-1-direction is in a very shitty mood today, so she’s ranting a lot. Thank you again for dealing with me and reading this word vomit. I promise, I’m done ranting for the day.
