Having a sona is GREAT like hi, this is my clownish caricature of my own personality, he's some sort of weird amalgamation of how I think others percieve me and I percieve myself but I like cranked up all my insecurities to the point of absurdity. Also he's a silly little creature. Do you want to hold him. You can give him a little treat, but he might nibble your finger so be careful. Want to arrange a playdate between yours and mine, so it's like we're hanging out, but instead we're using sock puppets representing parodic fantasy versions of ourselves to act out absurd scenarios. Do you want to ask him a question. Do you want to kill him

I explained the concept of "blorbo from my shows" to my 71 year old immigrant grandfather because I referenced it in passing and I thought nothing of it, until today when he said "I think I'll watch peaky blinders tonight and see my blorbo from my shows" referring, of course, to Cillian Murphy playing Tommy Shelby

I don't want to be all "leave Twitter, ditch Meta, stop using Amazon" etc because all of this is much easier to say than do, but I do believe the next couple of years are going to require a deliberate disintanglement from huge chunks of the internet for your personal wellbeing.
Google Search, no matter how many lawsuits they lose, is never going to go back to what it used to be. Amazon is not going to crack down on the scam products on their website in any meaningful way. Spotify is going to continue bankrupting artists. I like Bluesky and I've been a creature of Tumblr for, uh, over a decade, but I don't have faith in those places to stay put.
Building better spaces means finding ways to connect both in your local community and with the online communities that matter to do. Talk to your local bookshop owners, librarians, community organizers. (YouTuber F.D. Signifier has a google doc of suggestions to look into.) Get plugged into the issues happening in your town and look into ways to help. Find ways to communicate with your online pals that doesn't rely on Discord or a social media platform (email still works!)

dont piss me off. next time you go on a trip im filling your house with galapagos finches. by the time you return, they've evolved to fill your niche. they're a better spouse to your partner. they're a better parent for your child. and? they're a better friend to me than you ever were.

mutual pining simply never misses. the yearning. the stupidity. the desperation while also thinking themselves alone with it. the rattling relief at the revelation. the way it works in so many scenarios— friends to lovers? a banger every time. casual hook-ups/friends with benefits while they both want more? show-stopping, spectacular, incredible. enemies who are so deep in denial it just makes them madder at each other? utterly unmatched every single time. slow burn, fast burn, burning while already fucking. mutual pining really just is that girl like truly who does it like her

When you were approaching 40, how did you find meaning in life? How did you find the will to keep going and not think about how fast life was passing you by?
Double down on being inquisitive and kind. Not just towards others, but yourself.
Fill your days with small pleasures that are either unique, or that force you to slow down. Read a book, make a little craft, plant something, go on a walk or ride for at least 30 min.
Deliberately inconvenience yourself, even, to get out of a rut --- get fully dressed and groomed every day, make a meal from scratch, take a new route home.
Be more mindful about what does and does not bring you pleasure. Question what you do out of habit, like a long-played video game or how you dress, and if it actually makes you content or you feel merely obligated.
Find something to go a little feral learning about. Do some research. Go to a library or museum. Meet other people who are just as feral.
We tend to measure ourselves (and get overwhelmed) by the socially standard milestones in life - relationships, children, school, job - but it's how we spend the days in between that really determine how full your life feels.

Why is it necessary that a piece of art "condemns" or "normalizes" something. Is it not enough for art to say "here are some fucked up people in some fucked up situations for your enjoyment"? The art doesn't have to judge them and neither do you. It's for your enjoyment.

Heterosexual relationship culture is so alien to me and I don’t know if it’s the fact I’m not cishet or the fact I’m autistic but I hear so many things that make me go “Am I insane or are they?”
There’s a lot of hate on widowers and I saw a woman say “You cannot compete with a dead woman.” which is perhaps a reasonable statement to say if he’s constantly comparing you to his dead partner but that wasn’t what the post was about. And I realized “Oh my God, these people genuinely feel like they’re constantly in competition with their spouse’s exes and the ex being dead makes them feel insecure that they cannot best her.”
There’s also been an uptick in the ‘men and women cannot be ‘just’ friends’ rhetoric which I feel like is extremely dangerous and reflects the rise of fascism and sexism. Some of these stories of women feeling threatened by their husband’s female best friend have some merit and others are like “I feel angry that my husband still talks to the girl he grew up next door to and she and her wife are invited to family gatherings and included in family photos sometimes. Am I right to be suspicious?” No. No you’re not. I cannot imagine being you and living with that high level of stress and paranoia and constant torment and jealousy about your husband having a positive relationship with anyone who isn’t you.

whenever someone tries to make you feel bad about being fat, acting like being fat is some unnatural modern corruption of our Naturally Thin Ideal Human State, just remember your neolithic ancestor çatalhöyük skeleton 2058, a possibly disabled "obese" woman who carried heavy loads and stayed active till she died OVER FIFTY!!!! which was a good long life for the time!
Tumblr media
would skeleton 2058 want you to waste your life and ruin your health chasing thinness??? NO!!!!!!!!!! she wants you vaccinated and active and eating a glorious amount of delicious food in your home with your loved ones. and also collecting auroch skulls

Can't afford art school?
After seeing post like this 👇
Tumblr media
And this gem 👇
Tumblr media
As well as countless of others from the AI generator community. Just talking about how "inaccessible art" is, I decided why not show how wrong these guys are while also helping anyone who actually wants to learn.
Here is the first one ART TEACHERS! There are plenty online and in places like youtube.
📺Here is my list:
Proko (Free)
Marc Brunet (Free but he does have other classes for a cheap price. Use to work for Blizzard)
Aaron Rutten (free)
BoroCG (free)
Jesse J. Jones (free, talks about animating)
Jesus Conde (free)
Mohammed Agbadi (free, he gives some advice in some videos and talks about art)
Ross Draws (free, he does have other classes for a good price)
SamDoesArts (free, gives good advice and critiques)
Drawfee Show (free, they do give some good advice and great inspiration)
The Art of Aaron Blaise ( useful tips for digital art and animation. Was an animator for Disney)
Bobby Chiu ( useful tips and interviews with artist who are in the industry or making a living as artist)
Second part BOOKS, I have collected some books that have helped me and might help others.
📚Here is my list:
The "how to draw manga" series produced by Graphic-sha. These are for manga artist but they give great advice and information.
"Creating characters with personality" by Tom Bancroft. A great book that can help not just people who draw cartoons but also realistic ones. As it helps you with facial ques and how to make a character interesting.
"Albinus on anatomy" by Robert Beverly Hale and Terence Coyle. Great book to help someone learn basic anatomy.
"Artistic Anatomy" by Dr. Paul Richer and Robert Beverly Hale. A good book if you want to go further in-depth with anatomy.
"Directing the story" by Francis Glebas. A good book if you want to Story board or make comics.
"Animal Anatomy for Artists" by Eliot Goldfinger. A good book for if you want to draw animals or creatures.
"Constructive Anatomy: with almost 500 illustrations" by George B. Bridgman. A great book to help you block out shadows in your figures and see them in a more 3 diamantine way.
"Dynamic Anatomy: Revised and expand" by Burne Hogarth. A book that shows how to block out shapes and easily understand what you are looking out. When it comes to human subjects.
"An Atlas of animal anatomy for artist" by W. Ellenberger and H. Dittrich and H. Baum. This is another good one for people who want to draw animals or creatures.
Etherington Brothers, they make books and have a free blog with art tips.
As for Supplies, I recommend starting out cheap, buying Pencils and art paper at dollar tree or 5 below. For digital art, I recommend not starting with a screen art drawing tablet as they are more expensive.
For the Best art Tablet I recommend either Xp-pen, Bamboo or Huion. Some can range from about 40$ to the thousands.
💻As for art programs here is a list of Free to pay.
Clip Studio paint ( you can choose to pay once or sub and get updates)
Procreate ( pay once for $9.99)
Blender (for 3D modules/sculpting, ect Free)
PaintTool SAI (pay but has a 31 day free trail)
Krita (Free)
mypaint (free)
FireAlpaca (free)
Libresprite (free, for pixel art)
Those are the ones I can recall.
So do with this information as you will but as you can tell there are ways to learn how to become an artist, without breaking the bank. The only thing that might be stopping YOU from using any of these things, is YOU.
I have made time to learn to draw and many artist have too. Either in-between working two jobs or taking care of your family and a job or regular school and chores. YOU just have to take the time or use some time management, it really doesn't take long to practice for like an hour or less. YOU also don't have to do it every day, just once or three times a week is fine.
Hope this was helpful and have a great day.
