beware the "new & improved" rewards programs
Can we just talk for a minute about how every time a company says their rewards program is changing and that they are going to roll out a "better-than-ever" rewards program what that really means is "the previous one was too good"? Or sometimes it wasn't even THAT good, but what they really mean to say is it's "better than ever...for us!". I'm so sick of having to read the fine print about what's changed, or how many dollars equal a point now just to find out that dollar-for-dollar, it's worse.
I guess what it comes down to from a business perspective is that they need their profit margin to increase exponentially, infinitely. That must be SO stressful, omg. However do they manage this?! They cut costs from every little corner they can, but I'm sure they especially savor making rewards programs shittier, as if there's anything we could do about it. And as if we wouldn't notice.
So my question is why add insult to injury and say things like "new & improved" or "more rewarding"?! I honestly want to see a company just be upfront about it. "We lost money last year, so this year we can't be as nice to you. Sorry." or even "Our shareholders will render us jobless if we don't find a way to make them more money this year. Sorry." Something we could relate to instead of blatant lies is all I'm asking. Maybe they are fooling some people; I don't know. It's like when you call a company, get routed to someone with a thick accent who doesn't even live on this planet or use the company's products just for you tell them your problem and them hear shuffle through their scripts to find and read you: "I'm so sorry that happened and I totally understand why you are frustrated." Some of these scripts are dripping with so much capitalistic sarcasm it makes me wonder if I just called my best friend from another multiverse, not the customer service line.
Well, looks my minute is up and I'm going to have insert more money to stay on the line. Until the next diatribe, peace out! Enjoy the new rewards program!

hi everyone
I started this blog to share random product reviews, nagging thoughts, and as a way to document the injustices we suffer at the hands of greedy, capitalistic companies, all while taking my creaky writing muscles for a jog around the neighborhood. Bear with me while I do a warm-up lap.
