She expected a shock into awakening, not anything like an embracing of her hold-- but this was her master afterall. The one who always surprised her, and on most occasions made her find herself in good and wanting company. Even someone so prideful had these moments she knew, and a blade like her was forged for these times. 

“Of course. What kind of friend-- let alone a zanpakuto would I be if I didn’t allow something like that?”

She would freeze every tear if it stopped her master from shedding even one. But in this moment-- she would simply act as if she wasn’t seeing them, and allow the other to let it out.

The two had seemingly known each other since they were born, so it was obvious that she would see through things so easily. And she knew those smiles; empty but determined in not giving up. There were only a few times she could remember it breaking– and how her frozen heart sang with screams when that happened.

The spirit gets closer, enclosing her arms around one of the others, bringing her frosted lips just inches away from the other’s ear before she speaks again.

“You know, the past and the future aren’t always safe Rukia-sama.”

She would let out a relieved sigh of fog, feeling as if she lost him, and had nothing else to worry about. Something was off...It wasn’t usual for the cold to stay about her. She turns around right then to find out why, but can’t help but be startled.

“Y-You’re still here...?!” Only then would she gaze to her ‘shackles’, unamused at herself for not realizing sooner that such a tactic was unsuitable. “I suppose I should have known better...”

A raised eyebrow, was he supposed to remain in place for her? Surely she knew the ice wouldn’t even hinder him should he choose for it not to, then again the dancer was a playful one….something he was fairly certain no one knew about her, the same as he was a prankster.

Taking a step away his foot simply moved through the ice without damaging it and he followed, what appeared to be a slow stride and yet it allowed him to keep pace with the long strides.

The spirit frowns at such a comment, knowing it was not one that she was expected to hear. “I’m a zanpakuto, not a tourist. I have no reason to go out beyond reason.”

“Is there some kind of waterfall mountain setting? Should I expect monkeys?”

~Suppressed Thoughts~

“Guess you really don’t get out much…” Crystal muttered, frowned a bit. There was so much that Sode would enjoy, maybe not the Springs, but it was worth a try for her to unwind her mind. Though, Crystal was glad that she would be able to get Sode to experience things with her.

“Just like a bath, but the water is filled with minerals that’ll keep you healthy, and it’s supposed to relax all your muscles.” She said, looking over her shoulder at the other.

“Maybe... nice isn’t so bad.” She’s almost hushed by the other’s words, but is stricken by a curious thought. “W-Would you say the same thing if I had such a smile on my features when I summoned my blade to kill?”

“Awe, Sode, lighten up a bit. I’m just trying to make you more comfortable.” Crystal ran a hand through her hair. “Oh, Sode, you know that I wouldn’t lie to you. I really do think you have a nice smile.”

A chill palm. Kind words. Rukia had exposed the same chink in her armour again…she should have know the Spirit would see straight through her. The girl could play it off acting as if nothing was wrong ~ tell a lie to herself and the other. But as she had grown older her lies had dried up…all she could manage were false smiles at times like these. Smiles that only hurt herself when worn.

“…Yeah.” Were the first words to grace the death gods lips. Spoken so softly the slightest breeze threatened to carry them away.

How long had she been stood here anyway? An hour or two? The whole morning? Time had became eclipsed by her train of thoughts, blotted out like the sun during a thunderstorm.

“I guess sometimes…I just forget to stay in the present.” She has barely moved under the spirits touch. Eyes cast down like glassed over mirrors nothing reflected within them.

“Heh. It seems impure spirits have their own rules.” Not that she was using that word to her own full acknowledgement. She only found it truthful in the idea that the spirit was attached to a human-- not a shinigami like her. “You must realize it is usual of spirits to shorten their names for simplicity's sake, not lengthen. It’s so highly of yourself to stress a full name. But you may act so royal if you wish. Perhaps next time I shall have to make you a crown of snow-- not that your hot head could hold it for long I’m sure.”

The word heated is enough to get a hearty laugh from her. And what she could only assume was him trying to act cool, with the smooth turn of a heel and wave, was more than enough to earn a few more giggling notes. Wiping a frozen tear from her eye to her sleeve, she replies

“For zanpakuto, we surely don’t have that much chances for communication, so I will take what small chat I can get, be it a berating brat or a cool headed mumbler. To say you are social, and have many a chat, are you trying to paint me a better picture of yourself? How cute.” Her words are honest truly, and she does her best to believe them, although the smile on her face could easily be mistaken for one of toying. With another hum in recognition of the other’s small joke, she winks before she speaks. “I’m not quite so sure about that. Would you like to see if we can have a better chat if we’re both chilled to the bone?”

With the rubbing of her fingers, and the lowering of her arm so that the pure white fabric of her sleeves reaches the ground, cracks and crystals of ice stretch a round, creating a slippery surface, she couldn’t just let her audience walk away so easily, could she? With a hint of joy in her voice, she hums. “Watch your step~”

“It being a part of my name does not mean it is my name.”

Was that truly so hard to grasp?

Perhaps if she used more of her talent on thinking instead of ridiculous hairstyles and beauty, she’d be able to understand it a lot more clearly.

He had no care for if she saw him as petty for it – the fact of the matter was that what she was calling him was not who he was, and he was correcting her. End of story. She was the one, in his eyes, being far pettier – if a change of form was such a small thing, she would not be complaining about it.

And that was that.

He certainly wasn’t about to drop down onto his knees and whine at her until she listened to him – that wasn’t his form. If anything, now, his mood was too bitter for him to care about the situation save for wanting to leave; it wasn’t as if he would be able to do anything to fight her, because if one of them got damaged, with the friendship their wielders had… it would be too inconvenient. A shame, really, as he would have loved to be able to dig more than just words into her side by now.

With a sharp exhale to try and calm his nerves at least slightly (it didn’t work), he let himself turn on his heel, a hand raising to wave at the other spirit dismissively.

“Flinging insults and sarcasm at one another is not a chat, no, and I would have you know that I have many who I am capable of carrying on proper conversations with – without anything getting heated. Although, well, given your temperature, I suppose one of us would have to be.”

          Ha.

“Take this as a false victory as you will, but I have much better things to do than stay around here telling a woman to call me by my name and watching her think she’s funny for not doing so. Unless you plan on changing your wonderful immature sense of humour, I would like to be on my way.”

“If I told you it would lose it’s surprise.” A small giggle lets out past the fabric of her sleeves, not that she enjoying this plan but it’s something she can’t help-- something simply made in her nature. Her hands go to hover over his wrist, while her lips come near his face once more. And with one more puff of cool air, she harnesses a chill to create some sort of ice shackles to bind him to the ground before she stands to his side and walks-- or dashes away with dignity in her posture but a lack of pride on her face, not that he could see it. 

“That is very true, however something does tell me it is so.” He wasn’t one for rushing, he wasn’t one for pushing, he knew what he felt was real, as such he could very easily take it slow and wait for as long as it took, this woman meant everything to him after all.

At her request his lids would lower, closing his eyes and allowing his hands to rest at his sides, if she wanted him to close them for something why would he refuse. “Dare I ask what this something would be M’lady?”
