I will say I like the allspark turning bee into a sparkling just cause you could go pretty into the horror side of things a lot quicker

Like imagine bee gets turned but bee still has most of his memories he just has a bit of sparkling brain and the boy he latches onto is Optimus.

Optimus ends up becoming super doting and protective of bee and shockwave would see that through the multiple cameras he has hidden around the autobot base. The rage that boils under shockwaves playing at seeing HIS sparkling being cooed at by some washed up prime!? Forget the mission he was heading to earth and dealing with this right now.

Shockwave uses the Longarm disguise to worm his way into the base and immediately scoops Bee up stating that he needs to take the sparkling back to his ship to check if the allspark hadn’t ��negatively affected’ him.

But Optimus is already super suspicious of Longarm. Him showing up like this is almost too convenient. He tries to gently take Bee back and tell Longarm that it was unnecessary. An act that doesn’t end well as Longarm would react very… violently towards Optimus for trying to take away his sparkling.

Poor bumblebee would terrified and cry for Optimus constantly making shockwave angrier. (I like being evil)

honestly, i really like the idea of optimus and longarm(shockwave) having a more "personal" antagonism towards each other lollll. i wanna see them throw hands.

Hey, your evil shockdad au has given me the brainworms so I take that as permission to harass you :DD

I had this au in mind where the gang gets sent back form Earth to Cybertron early for some reason . It's basically like your "In your crosshairs" fic where Bumblebee doesn't feel at home in autobot society , except since they aren't regarded as heroes he doesn't even get free apartment privileges. So he crashes at Longarm's place a lot, and they get to spend more time together in between Longarm's work and Bee's job hunt/space bridge repairing (if h decides to stivk with that).

Maybe they can even have a heart-to-heart where Bumblebee opens up a bit about missing Earth, and being an outcast in general.

You said sometime ago that Bee staying with Shockwave early on would have the guy be a bit more healthy about showing his affection, so I wonder how this would affect their relationship.

i loveee this. this is one of those scenarios where its a lot softer, but it would still have that theme of "shockwave never having bee" but happening in a more self-aware way (on shockwave's side)

i imagine that staying with bee longer and watching him interact in autobot society and also not being alone would make him have a...slower realization. in my head, what causes shockwave to shatter and basically force the realization of his feelings in bumblebee's "death". it's in his loss that catapults his obsession essentially.

as much as i love the horror of this au and the spiral shockwave goes through. im also such a sucker for the idea that shockwave healthily copes with what he feels not because he's just obsessed with bumblebee and "loves" him, but he actively recognizes the state of mind he had put himself in and also being the result of a war none of the decepticons can really move past.

im rambling now so ill stop but YEAH. you get it. i love this idea. ASIDHIUSHASD.

What I love about this au is that no matter how funny/cute an aspect of it is shown in, there is always an underlying horror. That ask where Sentinel interrogates Bumblebee because the heavily encrypted file they had on the autobots was just pictures of bee is framed in a funny light but imagine being Bee in that scenario. He's only interracted with Decepticons negatively, what do you mean the highest security file they could find was just of him? Why is there so many pictures? There's no way Bee would brush something like that off. Bee and the rest of the team would be horrified and wouldn't be able to make sense of it. Everytime I find something funny on this au the next second there's always a sense of dread that accompanies it and it's such an interesting mix of emotions that I'm always so intrigued. All this to say I really love your au and I think you explore the horrors of loving and being loved very well!

YEAH LOLLL. whenever i draw something funny/cute, thats mostly just me being delusional tbh. i made this au with it being horror in mind, but i also just really like shockwave and bee's dynamic in general, so sometimes i like making them happy too ok.

and yesss, even in the sillies, if you frame it in a completely "horror" way it would be absolutely harrowing ASHDUIDHASHSUAD. bee would walk out of that interrogation room a completely different bot uwhhuuhwuw.

Shockwave wouldn’t hold bee like a normal sparkling and just hold like a water bottle and hold him out to Megatron like “Behold my lord! My sparkling!”

Sparkling bee would love his dad unconditionally even if he’s a little creepy but when those teenage years hit bee would see a whole new and messed up side to Shockwave

that second paragraph gave me such specific imagery i had to doodle it.

i think that megatron's response would just be like "??? did you just pick that thing up from the ground or..."

and aughuhhuuh...sometimes i think abt the tragedy of the fact that even if shockwave DOES have bee, having been the one to literally raise him in a decepticon society, it's like bee always grows up to resent shockwave in some way and realize the cruelty in how everyone acts. SHOCKWAVE JUST CANT WINNNN.

Omg imagine if the decepticons won the first war and sparkling bee was raised in an decepticon’s environment or civil war environment? what would be different compared to cannon?

honestly, it's so hard to think of decepticon society and i have no idea why!!! though, i do like to think that it's a society heavily dependent on your "strength" and individualism rather than fostering an actual community with other bots.

i imagine that bee would just be more miserable LMFAO. when we see him in canon, he definately thrives with other people. being in a society that lives on just focusing on yourself and taking what you want from others would crush him....

Bumblebee gets put under temporary arrest, scrutiny and interrogation. Sentinel and Longarms grill him before realizing he's not involved in anything shady. Bee asks why he was suspected of doing anything, Sentinel reveals they recently deciphered a HEAVY piece of intel on a Decepticon network that was just a collection of Bumblebee photos doing silly things

(Longarm's red optic looks away, mentally cursing the Autobots for peering into his private collection. The Decepticons think it was a genius decoy since it had the highest security AND was the heaviest file they had on Autobots)

OH MY GASDHUSDHUAS I LOVEEE THIS.

the utter confusion on everyone when they find this file that is super heavily encrypted only to find thousands of pictures of the same mediocre autobot. i can imagine shockwave (as longarm) mentally slamming his head against the walls as they lay the pictures out for everyone to see.

YESSS BANGERRR CHOICE. ive always liked emphasizing the difference in colors between bee and shockwave, if it wasn't obvious in the way i write them in my fics lol.

bee being this bright yellow like "sunlight" fits so well with the song RGHGHRGHRGHRGHR.

when i was listening to the song, you could honestly apply it to both of them!! which is something i really enjoy, since i like associating shockwave and bee like a "pair". hehe.

i have to confess i have ideas of a shockdad spinoff where shockwave meets bee (as a sparkling) in the middle of a battlefield and has to take him in for "reasons". maybe this is an au where it takes place when the decepticons first had their war or smth.

but that meme is exactly how i see bee and shockwave in that spin-off.

On the topic of songs... you mentioned a few times that during Bee's time as a space bridge tech Shockwave would pretty much try to ignore his existence, only for Shockwave to then lose each and every fight in the I Don't Give A Fuck trenches.

Kinda reminds me of the song "Mosquito Repellent" by The Mountain Goats and Kaki King. A little bit "I Don't Care" by VIOLENT VIRA too.

DAWGGG that mountain goats song is so reallll...it really does remind me a lot of my "wants and needs" fic lol. just shockwave trying his best to keep up the facade of longarm and do his work as a decepticon, but also being haunted by bumblebee.

and then it just spirals into something horrible when he thinks bumblebee had died.

this is one of the reasons why i genuinely think that if bumblebee HAD stayed with shockwave instead of going with the repair team, it would have made shockwave deal with his thoughts better, bc he'd be exsposed more to bumblebee lolll.

The trouble with song recommendations I'm finding is that if I'm left alone with anything remotely catchy I can delude myself into it fitting fuckin anything. So anyway, here's three more.

Cicada Days by will wood - bug motif + destructive love go brrrrrrrr

Carolina Reaper by Amelie Farren - similar, song about a kind of love that pains the singer but they refuse to give up. Definitely fits from shockwaves perspective

Evelyn Evelyn - more specifically the last verse, the two singers aurgue and the line "I just want my privacy / I just want you here with me" made me need to sit down.

this is really making me realize that it's pretty easy to find songs for this au as long as you read everything in the lens of "yeah i can make this about an evil parent/tortured child"

Was rewatching an episode of Cyberverse the other day, (don't know if you've seen it, so mild spoilers? I guess??) but the plot of the first season is that Bumblebee has amnesia, and at one point Shockwave enters his mind to try to manipulate him to become a Decepticon by planting false memories.

I was laughing the entire time because.... Shockdad....... It's real......

So anyway that's my kind-of-but-not-really pitch for a Cybververse version of the Shockdad AU!

i've also seen cyberverse (i watch things a lot ok)

besides the fact that it was pretty funny to see shockwave try and pretend to be windblade, AND YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW THE AMOUNT OF THOUGHTS I GOT FROM THAT EPISODE. if i had to think of a way to shockdad-ify this more...

maybeeee it could be that shockwave just implants memories as if he had been someone important in bee's life?? i know how much the show likes to hammer in the interpersonal relationships between the autobots and the decepticons, so it could be an interesting thing to explore something that WAS completely fabricated slowly become "real" in a way.
