The world is ending.
But it's been ending for a long time, hasn't it. The end of the world is so easy to ignore. It feels so far away-- until it isn't.
So. It's almost a relief that the world is ending, for real this time. It's a relief that there have been spikes of of paranormal activity, and that entities called cryptics have begun to appear, giving mankind 'monsters' to rally against together. It's a relief, that you have the means to do something about it, and that-- for once-- you're being listened to.
After all, that's what this invitation to Project Iapetus supposedly means, right? That an exclusive, wealthy, and powerful group called Ascensty is gathering the world's best and brightest to put their unique insights and talents to use to save the world?
... Though... it's a strange coincidence, how the convention of scientists, engineers, and theorists are gathering in the small town that was your home 10 years ago.
About
Project Iapetus or PI2 is a limited time game (or LTG, a roleplay campaign with a set start-and-end date), set on a pre-apocalyptic Earth.
It is a prequel to Prometheus Initiative, however no knowledge of the original game is necessary to apply to PI2. In fact, if you don't know anything about the original PI, you're encouraged to avoid snooping around the blog overly much! There are no promises that canon events and characters will actually remain continuous between the two.
Roleplay will take place primarily in discord. Plot important developments will be posted to Tumblr.
Influences for vibes are drawn from material in the realm of Control (game), SCP Foundation, Stranger Things, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and the Magnus Archives.
Even though this group is not an MKG (mutual killing game), there will be horror elements due to the genre. Players should be prepared for:
description of fatal injuries
discussions of mortality
discussions of existentialism
in-character lying, betrayal, vitriol, and confrontation
suspense and horror elements
in-character grief and despair
potential NPC death (PC death may also occur, but is not planned nor required)
We ask that players be mindful of in-character and out-of-character separation.
