i've decided, for my own comfort (because i'm old and crusty) that katherine will be a full mid-twenties looking adult. she was turned by klaus at age 24, making her about 500+ years of age during the xxi century.

i also, for my main verse, will have her not being a doppleganger. elena is a descendant of katherine, with a striking resemblance, but that's it. the petrova dopplegangers don't exist, klaus simply turned katherine out of boredom and a desire for a new pawn. she was an ill noblewoman, and he obligued to her desperate desire for him to save her.

she did meet stefan and damon, but during the renaissance period, as per the books, exactly a year after being turned by klaus; making her a reckless, spoiled, still new vampire.

klaus has chased after katherine for centuries for the simple reason that yes, she fucked over his plans and stole from him something very valuable. what she stole remains a secret only between her and him.
