i’m concerned about boys with mental illnesses and eating disorders and abusive relationships and sexual assault survivor stories and self-harming tendencies who never get the attention or care or help they need because all of those things “don’t happen to men” or because “all men are horrible monsters” and i just wanna say if you’re a boy and you’re struggling with something hard, your gender doesn’t diminish or dismiss your struggles or make them any less significant or difficult and i love you and i’m here for you

Things NOT to call post-abortive mothers (EVER)
- Murderers. The abortionist is the one killing the children. The abortionist is also the one who is most aware that the preborn child is a baby, and yet kills anyway. The mother is often lied to and manipulated, and many women are or feel coerced into having an abortion.
- Selfish. Many women feel they have to choose between themselves and their baby, and they’re told by the abortion industry that it’s not a baby.
- Evil. Again, many women are making the decision to have their baby killed under extreme distress.
- Horrible mothers. I know post-abortive women who went on to parent children, and do a great job of it. Some women do have trouble connecting with their younger children after choosing abortion, but it doesn’t mean they’re incapable of being good parents.
- Slut/promiscuous. Some women who have abortions were raped. Others were married and chose abortion for financial reasons or because of pressure from their spouse. Even if the person was having casual sex, calling her a slut is not helpful, compassionate, or kind. Basically, just because someone has an abortion doesn’t mean you can make assumptions about how they got pregnant.
This also means we need to get rid of the line “you should have kept your legs closed.” Stat.
Post-abortive women have been lied to, manipulated, and hurt by the abortion industry, especially by plannedparenthood. They are victims along with their aborted children.
It can be frustrating when people call abortion a “right” or when they give what we know to be inadequate justifications for abortion, but calling someone selfish, evil, a horrible parent, or a murderer doesn’t help us show compassion to the mom (or dad!) who has been hurt by abortion.
We can speak the truth about abortion without unnecessarily hurting people who have already been hurt. We can say simply that abortion kills a preborn child, which means if the woman has chosen abortion her preborn child has been killed.
If she is defensive or angry, getting angry at her is not helpful. It only confirms what she assumes, that we don’t care about her. You and I know that we care about the women hurt by abortion, but we need to make that clear to everyone else.
We cannot end violence with anger.
We will abolish abortion with love and compassion for the baby and the mother.

The argument of “bodily autonomy” when it comes to abortion is purely hypocritical, because everything that is so claimed to be hated - abuse of the body, acting without consent, harmful to the condition of living - is EXACTLY what is being done to the unborn child.

So you’re okay with abortion in the case of rape. You can’t really be pro-life then, if you think the life of one fetus is more valuable than another. If you really only cared about the fetus, you would be against abortion in EVERY SINGLE circumstance, no exceptions.
It seems more like… Idk, maybe like you’re trying to punish the woman who has consensual sex, rather than actually trying to save the fetus.
You replied to this post with two different replies, so I’m guessing you really want to talk to me. I actually forgot this blog existed until I was trying log into a different Tumblr account with a different email, but I might as well reply to you since you’re so insistent.
It’s almost like I believe that abortion is ending a potential life, but I believe that rape is such a heinous crime that it should be the pregnant person (use inclusionary language, please, not all people who can get pregnant are women) ‘s discretion whether they’re comfortable carrying the baby of their rapist or not. In a perfect world there would be no rape (and no other problems that would lead to a person wanting to have an abortion). While we live in a world that rape exists, abortion is an acceptable solution, but not one that I believe I’d personally take.
I don’t know where you got the whole thing about punishing consensual sex from. I have no problem with consensual sex, although I’d advise that people having it protect themselves from STDs or accidentally creating a potential life!
Pro-Life
You’re pro-life. Well your pro-life until that life realizes they’re gay. Then they can’t get married and you don’t want to sell them cake.
You’re pro-life. Well until that life realizes they’re trans. Then they can’t use the bathroom that best suits them. (Because the last thing Jesus would want is for us to be accommodating to those who are different, right?)
You’re pro-life. Well until that life is on death row. Then you’re pro-death penalty.
You’re pro-life. Well until we start talking about universal healthcare. Then you’re against that because why would someone who is pro-life want healthcare to be a fundamental human right?
You’re pro-life. But then you go and worship a god that flooded the world killing 99% of mankind (I’m going to assume at least one pregnant women drowned).
You’re pro-life but worship a god that needlessly slaughtered innocent Egyptian first born sons. (But they were out of the womb at that point so who cares, right?)
You’re pro-life but also pro-lives-suffering-in-Hell-for-all-eternity. I’m going to repeat that last one. Abortions are bad. Hell is good. In fact, Hell isn’t just good. It’s a perfect part of God’s perfect plan. Because God is perfect.
Are you serious right now?
The women who gets an abortion because she was raped is an abomination, while the god who punished mankind with painful and dangerous childbirth (which has led to an uncountable amount of infants and mothers dying in childbirth) is the most perfect being ever.
You’re pro-life. Well more like pro-life-until-birth, but that doesn’t have as nice of ring to it, does it? Wake up and smell the contradiction.

Well, Tumblr, it looks like I’m back. I was trying to log into a different account and successfully logged into this one — I’d forgotten it existed! Something tells me I’ll be posting a lot more now that we’re looking forward to (sarcasm, sarcasm) a Trump presidency...

Hello people! I’m sharing this petition with you because I learned that Christopher Jackson and Lin Manuel Miranda support Autism Speaks. (Check the Autism Speaks section on this masterpost to see why it’s bad.) Christopher Jackson and Lin-Manuel Miranda are important to so many people, and Lin-Manuel Miranda sends out so many positivity tweets in general (making me really mad that he supports Autism Speaks) so this is important. If you can sign, do so.

Nope.
You’re pro-life. Well until that life realizes they’re trans. Then they can’t use the bathroom that best suits them. (Because the last thing Jesus would want is for us to be accommodating to those who are different, right?)
Nope.
You’re pro-life. Well until that life is on death row. Then you’re pro-death penalty.
Fetuses, future babies, whatever — all completely innocent. What did they do to deserve a death penalty? Solid answer, please.
You’re pro-life. Well until we start talking about universal healthcare. Then you’re against that because why would someone who is pro-life want healthcare to be a fundamental human right?
Nope.
You’re pro-life. But then you go and worship a god that flooded the world killing 99% of mankind (I’m going to assume at least one pregnant women drowned).
There is some weird stuff in the Bible. The point is that your religion helps you be a good person.
You’re pro-life but worship a god that needlessly slaughtered innocent Egyptian first born sons. (But they were out of the womb at that point so who cares, right?)
See above. Also, your comment here makes me think that you would’ve rather had the Jews be slaves forever. And guess what, part of a seder is mourning the loss of life with drops of wine representing blood. Hardly mindless devotion.
You’re pro-life but also pro-lives-suffering-in-Hell-for-all-eternity. I’m going to repeat that last one. Abortions are bad. Hell is good. In fact, Hell isn’t just good. It’s a perfect part of God’s perfect plan. Because God is perfect.
Nope. Don’t believe in eternal damnation. (Also, for a lot of Jews questioning God is a big part of their religion — and I’m sure there are Christians who critically analyze their Bible too.)
The women who gets an abortion because she was raped is an abomination
Nope. I support abortion in the case of rape. It’s a hard choice, but ultimately up to the mother if she can’t handle it and truly isn’t coerced. (See: URL)
the god who punished mankind with painful and dangerous childbirth (which has led to an uncountable amount of infants and mothers dying in childbirth) is the most perfect being ever.
Could be wrong, but I don’t think it was a punishment. Also, lots of people wouldn’t say God is perfect — even religious people. I’m sure atheists wouldn’t either.
Wake up and smell the contradiction.
I don’t see any, hon.

That goes for this blog too, for the record.
When did you stop becoming pro choice? I've been pro choice my whole life but lately have been having problems with the way the community views the poor, disabled, and women in general but I don't know if in pro life either? I'm confused.
I remembered the moment it happened - months after the abortion I was forced to have, I fought off my negative feelings with anything I could. Pro choice slogans repeated in my head like mantras, denial, and then when things became too much to deal with I turned to drugs or alcohol. But in this final moment of my transition, I surrendered and allowed my heart to shatter. I sat there completely heartbroken and saw abortion for what it was, a violent act against an innocent human being that ends in death. Something that hurts a lot of women as well in the process. I put away my stereotypes toward the pro life community and I quietly began to listen to their voices. I realized they weren’t there to harm women but to fight for the protection of others, equality for all against age, sexism, ableism and surprisingly for post abortive women like me. I felt like light and peace and love and compassion, oh how much compassion filled my heart in this moment!
And I went through something similar as you! I began to question everything I had ever been told and found enough strength to address how problematic the pro choice community was. A part of me could always see these issues they had but with their ‘your either with me or against me’ attitude, I just refused to point out the harmful things they said or did for fear of retaliation and bullying. I saw plenty of instances where they supported eugenics and death for the disabled, where they shamed women for not choosing abortion when they dealt with under less than ideal circumstances. Now I see that some pro choice activists are speaking against such ableist beliefs and the termination of the disabled, but why can’t they see that much of their beliefs are still rooted in classism, ageism, and misogyny?
Find your own truth, ask the hard questions, consider both the woman (or pregnant person) AND the unborn baby, research human development, and see what solutions there are to the struggles that pregnancy and childbearing brings. Listen to the stories of the post abortive who feel as if they made a sound choice and the ones who mourn the loss of their child and who are often silenced because their experience does not fit the glorious, empowering image the pro choice community tries to make abortion appear to be. Listen to the former abortion clinic workers who had had enough and left, because they’ve seen it all firsthand. Look at pictures or videos no matter how bloody or gruesome they are. And then after, ask yourself if you are pro choice or pro life.
