Really love the idea of a roommate yandere who is delusional and possessive.
A roommate yandere who takes EXTRA care to clean the entire apartment, making sure everything is neat and orderly for you. You never have to worry about doing the dishes or doing laundry, because they’ll always volunteer to do all the household chores. You’re grateful to have such a kind roommate! But what you don’t see is that as soon as you leave the room, they’ll take the chance to lick the plate you just used. Savor the taste of the food you finished, imagining what it tasted like on your tongue. Taking a sip from the glass you used to take in some of your spit. Smell the socks you just wore.
They will clean the whole apartment, including your room. Taking extra care to tuck in your sheets and hang up all your clothing. They say that they don’t mind doing it! The mess bothers them anyway! If you ask them to not enter your room, then you’ll notice that they no longer clean the inside of your room… but some of your shirts and old water bottles that you’ve left out have gone missing.
Don’t forget about cooking! They weren’t the best cook when you two first moved in together. In fact, it seemed like they only really made microwave meals for themself when you first met them. But that soon changed! With every passing week, they’ve gotten surprisingly better at cooking. Making really lavish dinner and breakfast foods for the both of you. And whenever you say you like a recipe, they always make a special note to make it again sometime soon. And whenever you don’t like something they’ve made — well, you never see them make that dish again. Whenever you’re not looking, they always sneak some aphrodisiacs into your food. Just some common herbs or fruit juices that are rumored to trigger romantic feelings in people. They’re not sure if the stuff really works, but it never hurts to try.
Don’t think that they only do all the chores out of perversion, though!! They also love seeing how happy you get when you realize that you don’t have to spend your evenings doing cleaning or cooking or anything else! You can just sit back and relax after work, and you always make sure to thank your roommate. And hearing that little “thank you, you’re the best” from you is enough to make their heart flutter and their hands shake. They LOVE hearing your approval. They LOVE gaining any bit of positive attention from you. They’d clean the whole apartment with nothing but a toothbrush if it meant you’d give them another “thanks”
Whenever you’re gone for the day, they LOVE to roleplay as being your little stay-at-home-spouse (even though you two aren’t even dating) — very much embracing a idealist 1950s aesthetic. They’ve created a whole fantasy in their head about the wedding you two never had and the honeymoon you never went on. They’ll play some romantic movies on the TV and pretend that it’s a documentary about the two of you. They’ll take naps in your bed (carefully putting the sheets back to where you had them before after waking up) and they even bought a golden wedding ring to wear around the house when you’re gone. They go full delusional until they hear your footsteps coming up the stairs and they return to reality.
On a similar note, they have DEFINITELY worn that same wedding ring in public and have happily told the cashier at the grocery store or the person sitting next to them on the bus about how great and wonderful their spouse is. Telling them very romanticized versions about how you two met and why you moved in together.
They gave you a hard boundary that you’re NOT allowed to have members of your preferred gender spend the night at the apartment. It’s pretty much the only rule they’ve ever given you. And since they’ve been so nice to do all the chores and always keep the apartment so neat, you feel like it’s only right to respect this one boundary without complaint. Still, whenever you spend the night at somebody else’s apartment (regardless if it’s a hookup or not), your roommate always seems a little distraught. They text and call you whenever you’re out later than expected, and even when you tell them that you’re spending the night somewhere else, they emphasize that you should share your location with them “just to be safe.” You’ve noticed that not a lot of your one-night stands ever text you back…
Yet, whenever you return from one of your ‘sleepovers’, your roommate is always waiting for you back at the apartment with a huge breakfast spread prepared. They have all your favorites prepared. And whenever you complain about a date going poorly or rant about how your latest partner never texted you back, they’re always there to listen.
They are VERY affectionate. Oh, you had a long day at work? Don’t worry, they love giving back rubs!! They’d even give you a foot rub if you had to stand most of the work day! It’s okay, they don’t mind doing it. Oh, you spilled something on yourself? Don’t worry, they have some paper towels and can wipe it off for you!! No, it’s totally fine!! Oh, you fell asleep on the couch? They know that it’s better for your back to sleep on your bed, so of course they had to pick you up and carry you to your bedroom. They’ll even gently tuck you in!
If you recommend adopting a pet, then they’ll immediately jump on that idea. In their mind, it’ll give you more reason to spend more time at the apartment! And it’ll almost be like you two are raising a child together (at least, in the roommate’s fantasy that’s what it is like). They’ll pamper that pet to no end, seeing it as an extension of your two’s love. And they’ll definitely use the pet as a way to guilt trip you into spending more time at the apartment. “If you stay out late with friends, then our pet will miss you :(” “I’d be happy to watch the pet while you’re away on vacation, but wouldn’t it be so much better if you just stayed here with them?”

Really love the idea of the obsessive lover type who seems so likeable and polished in public but completely unravels when they’re alone
Just the whole dichotomy of “how could a person who seems this functional, friendly, intelligent, and socially acceptable just be an absolute freak and an absolute mess of a human the moment they’re alone??”
Bonus points if the character is someone that has a good social reputation and is really popular because they seem soooo put together in public. But if the people only knew how the character’s love for their darling causes them to lose all control and all reason when they’re alone.

reading your (amazing) writings got me thinking about like, a fuckboy/playboy(? im sorry idk the gn word for this? slut maybe lmao?) yandere who’s rich, doesn’t even need to study, always gets to any party where they can get some action. they never had a romantic relationship before bc they thought it was just stupid and unnecessary foreplay. basically everyone is either horny for them or hate them.
so imagine their surprise when they see their (future) darling staring at them while they were talking to their friends. yan thinks they’re cute enough and talks to them, starts flirting their darling up and when they ask what darling finds attractive about them they start listing things like “your smile, its really pretty” or “you’re so smart, and you’re fun to be around” instead of something about how their body looks sexy or some shit they always get instead.
this leads to confusion, because someone never acted like this for yan before. how were they supposed to react? that moment was when their heart truly skipped a beat because of someones words, their darlings words felt so warm and genuine it made them shiver.
id also like to think theyd have a huuuuugeeee ego, also really possessive. but once they get close to their darling or just see them they turn into a golden retriever type, ready to do anything and everything, kill anyone and everyone for you.
sorry if its not comprehensive its 3 am, i dont have my glasses on and im just really excited after reading ur writings 🧍♂️
broski. i love this.
just an absolute player (i think???) of a yandere and uber rich (LOVE yanderes with money) and a massive slut
one night stands every night, always getting their ego stroked, always sexualizing themselves and others and then they meet... you <3 you compliment their smile, their laugh, the things they say, everything and it makes them completely fall for you and when you refuse to have sex with them because theyre obviously drunk and well, you're an ethical person, that just makes them want you more.
finding you is easy, throw enough money at a problem and itll solve itself. and being a rich socialite is hard and they completely lack in the 'social' part so they just.. show up. work, school, where ever and follow you around, questioning you and if anyone makes you do something, the brattiness comes out.
"y/n! you were suppose to finish this ages ago! would you please stop talking to your friend and get to work on this? c'mon! we can't keep letting you slack off!"
"ah, sorr-"
"no, no, who is this? who are you? you know what, i dont care, you are no longer important to me, leave." they make a shooing motion, turning back to you with a smile. "you wanna go shopping? have lunch? travel? anything you want, its on m-"
"hey! you cant just ignore me! im gonna have to ask you to le-"
the yandere turns around, standing at their full height to properly glare at your boss/teacher. "cut me off again and i will cut out your tongue." they snap their fingers, summoning the person thats always following them around. "escort whoever the fuck this is out, im talking to someone and theyre being a bitch."
as the curses and yells of your boss/teacher rapidly fade, the yandere turns back to you, grinning. "so! did you decide yet?"
ohhh, i hope you love getting spoiled because this socialite will do it constantly. food, jewelry, perfume, clothes, companies, electronics, anything you want? its yours as long as you keep giggling when they say stupid shit.
and just imagine how cute they look when they see you! beaming, glowing with love, desperately trying to impress you all of the time, just so so cute! and if you praise them, i can already see them struggling to hide their moans of pleasure and spend the rest of the day on cloud nine
if you work, theyll get you fired so you can spend all your time with them. if you go to school, theyll get enrolled to or enroll you in online classes and you will rarely spend a moment without them at your side, willing to do absolutely anything for you.
now, i dont think this yandere would be possessive like others! they demand others to praise you, to compliment you, acknowledge you constantly and appreciate your beauty but one wrong comment and theyre tied up in a guest house, being hunted like a drugged up tiger. they post pictures of you near constantly, showing off how amazing you are, forcing everyone to basically bow to your feet and yeah, they get a bit culty with it sometimes but hey! it could be worse!

CHAMI tell me if you ever get tired of reading my long ass rambles AND ALSO don’t feel obligated to respond to it w somethjnf super long urself i know ur busy and it’s time consuming </3 IM JUST LETTING MY THOUGHTS OUT
anyways. WHAT ABOUT A ROYAL YAN AU??? or. you know what i cant decide who should be who so i’ll give you a couple scenarios bc im indecisive and i actually cant think properly ever so:
1. a yan whos next in line for the crown, oldest of all their siblings, someone who is meant to take over soon!! they’re getting hundreds of letters from noble men all over the country, trying to sell of their sons/daughters to their majesty!! royal yan ofc, doesn’t give one shit, instead, they’re in love with this one butler/maid/worker who occasionally bring them their meals, dress them, etc. etc. yes, you!! you’ve always felt like your majesty always payed extra special attention to you, always requesting you to accompany them through town, or maybe on a walk through the garden; even helping them during their bathing time (eek!!) but ofc, the queen/king would NEVER allow their candidate for the throne to marry a commoner, they have too much pride for that. cue royal yan possibly killing them off if they don’t let them do so?? they were getting old anyways!! this yans biggest problem is figuring out how to show their absolute devotion to you, despite them being expected to run an entire nation!! they might just have to ditch the crown and run away with an unsuspecting you <33 ANYWAYS THATS FORBIDDEN ROMANCE VER. 1
2. this time YOURE the royal, and yan is the servant!! maybe you’re not next in line for the throne, but you’re still a high ranking noble, who’s expected to marry someone of your stature. perhaps servant yan is your personal maid/butler; someone who wakes you up in the mornings (not without staring at you for a bit <33 youre just so cute when you sleep!!) and delivers your tea (they loooooooove watching you enjoy the small cakes and tea the kitchen prepared!! they made sure they had all your favorites plated <333) and someone who helps you bathe!! you insist you’re fine on your own, but they’re always there to make sure you don’t “drown in the tub”, which is funny since they never seem to be able to make eye contact with you as you wash up!! they’re always bright red, looking away nervously. honestly, why even bother asking to stay?? (it’s so that they can make sure no one else helps you out when you’re looking all sweet and vulnerable like that!!) a butler/maid yan who shreds any letters asking for your hand in marriage, only relaying the “necessary” messages to you. someone who will do their best to keep you their master forever, keep it you and them, your most loyal servant, FOREVER. it doesn’t matter if you feel like no one wants you, if no one’s asked you to marry them, if you’ve become a social outcast in the noble scene!! servant yan will always be there for you… and they’ll get rid of anyone who dares try to disrupt the dynamic you two have together!! AKA FORBIDDEN RKMANCE #2!!!
3. a noble yan whos sibling is the crown prince/princess, and who’s fiance (you) is someone they want. it’s just so unfair. first their sibling gets the throne, AND they get this sweet perfect fiance to be engaged to!! they don’t even love you that much, not as much as noble yan could!! it could be that their older sibling and you are deeply in love, it could be that you two aren’t!! it doesn’t matter. noble yan will view it wrong no matter what, you should be with THEM instead. they try to do anything to call off your engagement with their sibling so that they can swoop in and take you for themselves. of course they’d never want to ruin your reputation, but if spreading rumors is what they’d have to resort to in order to make you theirs, they might just have to do it. luckily, marriage standards for royal children other than the one next in line for the throne arent AS strict, so they could easily marry you even after your engagement was called off with their sibling. if anything, you should be grateful a noble, a member of the royal family no less, still wants you after all those mysterious, nasty rumors were spread about you!! hehe FORBIFDEN ROMANCE #3!!
4. and lastly. (i know it’s been a lot STAY W ME HERE!!) a NON forbidden romance between a noble yan and a noble you!! they just do their best to court you, sending over flower bouquets, writing love letters, gifting you jewels and land in your name. you’re unsure of how to react to such a passionate suitor, but you can’t help but like the attention!! i could see this route being the most healthy (if you could call noble yans obsession healthy) out of the 4, since you and noble yan stand on equal ground in terms of social status!! maybe this route will minimize conflict <33
probably not though, since noble yan is still, well, a yan.
- sunny!!
YANDERE SERVANT YANDERE SERVANT YANDERE SERVANT!!!! they dress you, they feed you, they tuck you in at night, they bathe you, they read to you, they are basically a second skin! raised together since birth, they love you and would do anything for you! getting you whatever you want, making whatever you want, killing potential suitors, all the normal things! ehehe just imagine how hard it would be for a yandere to be the one to always wash your back and hair for you and help you get dressed every day!!!
aaaa i love all of these ideas and i could NEVER grow tired of your long asks!!!! <3333333

How would playboy prove that darling would never be thrown away? Like darling feels insecure cause they keep overthinking that playboy yandere is just playing with them and doesn’t actually love them?
ehehehe and heres were we get to see our yanderes crazy side,,,
CW: self mutilation, threats of suicide
playboy would take this as an insult, saying you dont love them enough, that they arent doing a good job of showing they love you.
know how i said playboy would shower you in gifts? if you show insecurity at all, those gifts double. boats, stores, companies, houses, exotic pets, planes, if it isnt at least a solid million, its not enough. if that doesnt work, they resort to more... drastic measures.
carving your name into their skin, branding themselves with your initials, fuck theyll even start pulling their nails out with their teeth if they get really desperate! playboy is insane and intense. they arent going to shower you in gentle kisses, they arent going to romance the shit out of you, there will be no candles, no rose petals, no heart shaped jacuzzi, theyll throw money and material items at you and if they doesnt solve it, theyll resort to harming themselves. theyre yours. if you cant see it, theyll make you see it and i really hope you have a short name cause otherwise theyre gonna give themselves a pretty big scar!
in the end, youll have to be the one comforting them because theyre terrified youll leave them cause you think they dont love you enough! and if you even dare to imply that you think theyll leave you ever, theyll get on top of you, hold a knife to their throat and say
"if i ever leave you or lose you, im going to fucking kill myself."

// content contains: social isolation, manipulation, codependency, stalking, stealing, soft yandere themes, drug mention
......................................
~ You were beyond nervous about your pre-college exams. A good grade on these tests was required to get into any good university. You and Yan signed up to take the test on the same day. It was odd though... A week later, you got an email saying that your test scores were finally available on the online platform, but when you logged in to see your scores, you noticed there were two different scores available - one significantly higher than the other. But you only took the test once? Where did the second score come from? You met up with Yan later that day and asked them if they had seen their scores yet. They said no. There was a problem getting their scores entered, and they were going to do a make-up test. Bizarre.
~ Right after your high school graduation, your parents hosted a small get-together with all your friends. You and Yan were the only two going to the same college, which meant that this could be one of the last times you would see your other high school friends for a while. The thought of it made you sad, but Yan quickly reassured you. They weren't nearly as bothered about leaving old friends behind as you were. "It'll be okay!" They said. "We will still have each other, and that's all we really need!"
~ Once everybody else went home and your parents went to bed, Yan stayed behind to speak with you. "I got a special graduation gift for you," they said. You smiled. You expected nothing less from Yan - they always gave you the sweetest gifts on every special occasion, from holidays to birthdays, and sometimes Yan would give you gifts on random days just because. Of course, you would try your best to reciprocate the kindness and sometimes buy your own gifts for Yan, but you usually didn't have the money to buy nearly the same quality of stuff that Yan gave you. Honestly, you're not sure where Yan got the money for his gifts. You opened their gift to you, and it was ... a ring? It was a thin silver band, and inside it had your and Yan's initials carved into it. "It's... pretty!" you replied hesitantly. It certainly wasn't the type of gift you expected, but it was kind of them nonetheless! Yan insisted that you put it on. You did.
~ You and Yan ended up in the same dorm at college but in different rooms. Both of you have roommates, and you were hopeful that you and your new roommate could become friends! Unfortunately, that idea fell apart very quickly... After a few weeks of school, your roommate began expressing concerns about how often Yan was over, and this quickly caused tension between the two of you. It was true that Yan was over a lot. As soon as school started, Yan began stopping by your dorm room every single day. They would insist on walking you to your classes, even if your class was in a completely different building from theirs. They would then insist on walking you back to the dorm after you finished classes for the day, even if they had to wait for over an hour outside your classroom. Once you returned to the dorm, Yan would usually stay in your room for several hours, offering to help you study or asking to hang out. You made it clear that Yan really didn't have to do this every single day. You loved seeing them and spending time with them, but you were also totally okay with walking around campus by yourself some days. Yan would always dismiss these concerns, saying, "it's no problem! Besides, this will all be easier next semester when we are in the same classes again!" That was another thing - Yan changed their major to be the same as yours.
~ Things seemed to be going fine, except for the fact that your roommate would shoot you a dirty look every time you let Yan into your room. You felt guilty for having Yan over so much if it made your roommate upset, but you also felt guilty every time you suggested to Yan that maybe they shouldn't come over as much. Yan would always get so defensive and say things like, "Why can't I come over? Are you mad at me?" And even when you insisted that you weren't mad, Yan would continue asking "well, then what's the problem? Why are you trying to cut me out of your life?" It was easier to apologize to Yan for even bringing it up and then drop the topic.
~ That was until one day when your roommate actually confronted you face-to-face about everything. "No offense," they started. "But you need to stop bringing your friend over all the time. They're starting to be really rude towards me, and I don't feel comfortable around them at all." This was shocking news to you. You knew that your roommate was concerned about Yan visiting so much, but Yan being rude to them? When did that happen? Yan hardly spoke to your roommate when they visited. Besides, Yan was one of the nicest human beings you knew. You decided to ask Yan about it, but they just rolled their eyes when you brought it up. "Look, your roommate is trying to start drama," Yan said. "You know me better than anybody - you know that I would never be rude to someone or make them uncomfortable, at least not intentionally. Your roommate is lying to make me look bad." You wanted to believe Yan, and a part of you really did believe them. But at the same time, your roommate seemed so kind at the start of the semester. What happened? You suggested that you and Yan should give your roommate some space and start hanging out somewhere different instead. You asked if the two of you could start hanging out in Yan's dorm room, but they quickly rejected this idea. "My roommate is just as bad as yours," Yan said. "It'd be better to not bother them." Eventually, you both agreed to start studying in one of the community spaces around the dorm.
~ A few days later, you finished your last class of the day and were surprised to see that Yan wasn't waiting to walk you home. You shrugged and started walking home by yourself. You didn't even make it halfway back to your dorm before you heard Yan's voice calling after you. They caught up to you, panting. You hoped they didn't run all this way just to walk home with you! "Sorry I'm late," Yan said, composing themselves. "Something came up. But, nevermind that. I was hoping we could hang out this evening! How does that sound?" You nodded, and the two of you walked back together. Before you could even reach your room, however, you noticed several campus security officers standing in the hallway. Huh? Walking closer, you noticed your roommate was also standing in the hallway, crying and shaking their head, as one of the security officers escorted them outside. Getting even closer to your room, the stench of weed overwhelmed your nose. It smelled like somebody had an all-day smoke session in your room. "Ahhh, so that's it," Yan said calmly, unphased by the situation. "Your roommate was a pothead. They probably wanted the room to themselves so they could smoke in privacy, and that's why they were always complaining about us being there." But that didn't make sense to you... You had been living with your roommate for about a month at that point, and you hadn't encountered any evidence that they were a smoker. Not that you would have minded if they were. But, still, everybody knew that your school had a very strict anti-drug policy, so even people who did smoke knew not to do it on school grounds. Yan stepped in front of you, smiling, "Hey, don't worry about it. I told you that your roommate was nothing but drama. Here, let's go find a place to hang out - preferably somewhere away from this smell."
~ Your roommate chose to move out of your dorm shortly after the weed incident. Apparently, the school charged them a huge fine and they were too angry to keep living there. And while you were sad to see them leave, you were happy to finally have your own room - though, it seemed like Yan was even happier about the situation than you. At this point, Yan practically became your new unofficial roommate. They slept over more often than not. They even bought a toothbrush and deodorant to store in your room, plus a few spare clothes. However, your ex-roommate took all their sheets and blankets when they moved out, and you didn't have an extra set of sheets. So, whenever Yan slept over, they always asked if they could share a blanket with you. You and Yan used to share a bed all the time when you had sleepovers back in elementary school, so the idea of sharing a bed with them again didn't really bother you. Yet, it did feel a bit different now that you both were older. There was more than one occasion when you'd wake up in the morning to find that Yan was pressed against you. In their defense, the bed wasn't that large... but still, you sometimes would have to squirm to get out of their grasp in the morning, usually waking them up in the process. You would sometimes ask Yan if they could bring their own sheets from their own dorm room if they wanted to spend the night, but Yan was very forgetful about doing that.
~ Every now and again, you would notice small items of yours going missing. Usually, it was nothing major - just an old t-shirt that you haven't been able to find in a while, or sometimes you would misplace your rainboots. Yan was always very helpful in these situations though. On more than one occasion, Yan had surprised with you a gift to replace an item you lost. For example, they gifted you a new pair of boots the day after your old ones went missing! You were always very appreciative of Yan's kindness, though you also felt bad for draining them of so much money. You never lost this many items while living with your parents.
~ You almost always wore the silver ring that Yan gifted you at graduation. It was a nice gift, though if you were being honest with yourself, you mostly only wore it to make Yan happy. Seeing their face light up every time they noticed the ring on your hand made you feel happy in return. And on the other hand, seeing how disappointed Yan looked whenever you didn't wear the ring was enough to make you feel guilty. After your first semester of college, you noticed that you gained a little weight. Which wasn't a problem for you. However, it did mean that the ring had a harder time fitting around your finger. Eventually, you got so frustrated with it that you decided to leave the ring off for a few days. It only took until day 4 before Yan said something. "Why do you never wear my gift anymore?" their tone sounded sad, with a thin layer of anger underneath. "I'm sorry," you started. "I really do appreciate your gift, I mean that. But, it doesn't fit my finger that well anymore." Yan immediately grabbed hold of your hand and examined it closely. The speed at which they grabbed you shocked you, but you were more surprised about how delicately they maneuvered your hand in theirs. "You should have told me that earlier!" Yan exclaimed. "I can go have it resized for you." Before you could get a word in, Yan walked away.
Let me know if you liked this content and if you want more! I am open to suggestions if you have other character concepts that you want me to write little scenes for :)
Some yandere x reader content for a best friend turned yandere story —
I will be using Yan as a shortened form of The Yandere. I tried to only use gender neutral language for both you and the yandere.
// content contains: stalking, social isolation, manipulation, mentions of perversion, jealousy, soft yandere themes
……………………………………
•~ Neither Yan nor you remember a time without each other. You met as children. You were neighbors and attended the same preschool, so naturally your parents arranged a carpooling system. Yan was painfully quiet as a child and would rarely interact with the other children at preschool. Yet, during those brief car rides to and from school, you would offer to share fruit snacks with Yan or make a funny face to get Yan to laugh. Yan couldn’t help but feel happy around you. Soon enough, you became friends.
•~ The friendship continued into elementary school. By this age you were riding the bus to school everyday, but you two always made sure to sit next to each other towards the back. The other children would be screaming and throwing paper, but Yan and you would always sit calmly and chat with each other. Almost lost in your own little world.
•~ One year, it was announced that students who tested highly in math would be moved to the honors math class next year. Yan was excellent in math and never got below a 90% on a test. You on the other hand… were more of an artist than a mathematician. “You’ll definitely get into the honors math class next year!” You reassured Yan. “It’ll be sad not being in the same class together anymore, but I know you’ll do great!” Oddly enough… Yan did really poorly on the next several math quizzes after that. Ultimately, the school decided to keep Yan in the regular math class next year — the same class that you were put into!
•~ Once in middle school, things started to get more complicated. You wanted to spread your wings and explore more hobbies! You began to sign up for all sorts of clubs and after school activities — though Art Club was the one you were most excited about! It was just an excuse to doodle cute cartoon characters for an hour with other students that had the same hobby! Yan decided to sign up for the same club… which seems odd, since you have never seen Yan draw before? Nor did they show much interest in drawing during the club? You tried to encourage Yan to try out different clubs that they would like more, but they always refused. Besides, they liked being able to spend more time with you after school.
•~ Lunch time was always the worst. Yan was the only friend from elementary school that you had. And unfortunately, you didn’t have the same lunch period as Yan this year. You would awkwardly ask a random table if you could sit with them and then would eat your food quietly while the other students at the table whispered to each other and laughed at inside jokes. One day on the bus ride home, you told Yan about how lonely you felt during lunch time. The next day, you headed to the cafeteria for lunch to find Yan sitting at a table with a bag in their hand. “Aren’t you supposed to be in class right now?” You asked. “I told the teacher that I needed to use the restroom—” they then quickly change the topic by pushing the lunch bag towards you. “Here. This should taste much better than the cafeteria food!” Inside was some of your favorite snacks, plus what looked to be a homemade meal! You didn’t even know that Yan could cook! Yan then stayed and chatted with you through lunch. You kept telling them that the teacher will be mad that they’re skipping class, but Yan always dismissed your concerns. You’re friends. This is what friends do for each other.
•~ Even outside of school, Yan and you spent all your time together. Yan practically lived at your house with how often they slept over. Since you were neighbors, it was easy for them to stop by at a moment’s notice. Whenever you texted them saying that you were feeling down, or stressed, or sad, or any bad feeling really, Yan would always be at your door a minute later with something to gift you. Usually it would be small things like a bag of your favorite chips or a new art supply that you’ve been wanting to try. But it always meant a lot to see them. Your parents would joke that Yan feels like their extra child with how often they’re around. Yan would always laugh along to these jokes.
•~ By high school, you knew you had to get more serious about school. You wanted to go to college, and that meant having a decent GPA and convincing teachers to write you recommendation letters. Yan always offered to help you study, and you often took them up on their offer. Yan was wicked smart. They really should be in honors classes, but they always signed up to take the same courses as you. By this point, you’re so used to spending every hour of the school day with Yan that you’ve stopped questioning why they sign up for your classes. It was just nice having a consistent friend around. Plus, it has been really great having their support. Like when you accidentally wrote down the wrong due date for that 5 page history paper and showed up to class empty handed, but then Yan revealed that they had written an extra paper that you could turn in. They explained that it was a “rough draft” that they had finished writing before deciding to change their writing topic, and thus wrote the second paper with their new idea. It didn’t make a lot of sense to you, but it saved you from having to endure the wrath of Ms. Cruz.
•~ Whenever you and Yan talked about college, they always seemed interested in applying to the same colleges as you. Which was interesting because the two of you wanted to major in completely different fields. Or at least, that’s what you thought. But lately Yan has expressed more interest in studying a field that’s related to yours. They said that hearing you talk about your passions has made them more passionate about that same topic. One late night, you invite Yan to sleepover and you two stay up drinking sodas and watching movies together. The topic of college comes up again, and you throw out the idea that if you two go to the same school then you could probably move off campus and get an apartment together by sophomore year. Yan immediately approves of this idea, and ever since that conversation they’ve been sending you links to various apartment listings around every college you’re applying to.
•~ There were a few people you met back in your middle school Art Club that were now in your same high school classes. You made an effort to sit by them whenever possible, and soon enough you became friends with several of them. Yan was never as talkative with these friends, but he would always hang around you during class, and thus consequently would be near the whole friend group. Your friends would sometimes express concern about how standoffish and rude Yan could be, but you would explain that Yan is just shy around new people and that they’re a total sweetheart once you get to know them. You tried asking Yan to open up more around your new friends, but Yan would always change the subject whenever you brought it up. Occasionally Yan would make a comment about how your new friends weren’t nearly as studious as you and Yan hoped they weren’t distracting you from getting into college.
•~ There was one person in your new friend group who was different from the rest. From the moment you met them back in middle school Art Club, you thought they were attractive. And then in high school, the two of you were assigned the same lunch period. You began eating lunch with them everyday, and suddenly lunch was your favorite part of the school day. Yan would still sometimes show up during your lunch period to bring homemade food to you, which you still greatly appreciated, but you also let Yan know that they really didn’t need to do that anymore. It’s a kind gesture, but you weren’t lonely during lunch anymore with your new friend there and the cafeteria food didn’t bother you as much anymore. Yet, after telling them this, Yan actually started showing up during your lunch time even more.
•~ Eventually, you and your new friend start to date. You couldn’t believe it at first. This person was attractive, funny, kind, talented, and every other wonderful thing you could want in a partner. You have never felt so excited to talk to someone. And every time you walk down the school hallway holding their hand, you feel like royalty. Of course… it wasn’t all great. When you first told Yan about your new significant other, they didn’t say much. In fact, they stared at you intensely for a moment. Almost like they were waiting for you to say sike and tell them that it was a joke. But you didn’t. And Yan’s face conveyed an emotion that you’ve never seen in them before. “Just be careful,” was all Yan said. “I don’t trust them one bit, and I don’t want you getting hurt.” You were hurt that your best friend didn’t approve of your partner… You begged Yan to give your partner a chance and try to get to know them. But every time Yan was around your partner, they would spend the entire time either ignoring them or glaring at them.
•~ Eventually, you managed to convince Yan to let your partner join one of your study sessions. All three of you are in the same history class, so it made sense to work together. The study session was at your house, and the three of you sat around your bedroom studying. For the first time, Yan seemed completely at ease around your partner and you were so excited to see them finally getting along. Until Yan turned to your partner and asked, “hey, do you have the worksheet that Ms. Cruz handed out last Monday?” Your partner nodded, “yeah, it’s in my backpack.” But as they opened their bag, your eyes got caught by a piece of fabric you see inside … a very familiar fabric… “Is that my underwear???” You exclaimed. Your partner instantly got flustered, “what? No! I don’t even know how that got in there!” You were so confused that you didn’t know what to say. But, before you could react, Yan jumped up and scolded your partner for being a pervert. You had never seen Yan so angry before. They yelled at your partner to give back the clothing and leave immediately. Your partner looked completely bewildered, but eventually left after Yan almost chased them out. Yan turned to you, “see? This is why I couldn’t trust them.”
•~ If that night weren’t bad enough, the next day you go to school you overhear all your friends nervously chattering and giving you weird looks. You asked them what’s going on. They exchanged worried glances. “It’s about your partner… a lot of people’s gym uniforms went missing the last few days… and they just now found them all, in your partner’s locker. What a creep!” You were horrified. You texted your partner instantly to see if this was true. They told you that the clothes were in their locker, but they had no idea how they got there and how they would never steal from people. When Yan heard the news, they insisted that you break up with your partner ASAP and block them on everything. They’re a pervert and can’t be trusted. You agree.
•~ Your ex stopped coming to school shortly after. You could only assume that they dropped out or transferred. You’re heartbroken, but Yan was there to support you. They took notes for you in every class for when you were too sad to pay attention. They brought you freshly baked treats every evening and even stayed late to listen to you rant about your ex over and over again. Yan never seemed to grow bored of listening to you trash talk your ex and call them a pervert. In fact, they seemed to enjoy it. They always insisted that you’re better off now. Usually Yan would stay so late that eventually you would fall asleep while they were still there. No worries though, because whenever you woke up you would always find yourself nearly tucked into bed with Yan sleeping under a few blankets on the floor of your room. On more than one occasion though, you noticed that there was a second indentation on your mattress right next to you…
… should I write more?

Skip Google for Research
As Google has worked to overtake the internet, its search algorithm has not just gotten worse. It has been designed to prioritize advertisers and popular pages often times excluding pages and content that better matches your search terms
As a writer in need of information for my stories, I find this unacceptable. As a proponent of availability of information so the populace can actually educate itself, it is unforgivable.
Below is a concise list of useful research sites compiled by Edward Clark over on Facebook. I was familiar with some, but not all of these.
⁂
Google is so powerful that it “hides” other search systems from us. We just don’t know the existence of most of them. Meanwhile, there are still a huge number of excellent searchers in the world who specialize in books, science, other smart information. Keep a list of sites you never heard of.
www.refseek.com - Academic Resource Search. More than a billion sources: encyclopedia, monographies, magazines.
www.worldcat.org - a search for the contents of 20 thousand worldwide libraries. Find out where lies the nearest rare book you need.
https://link.springer.com - access to more than 10 million scientific documents: books, articles, research protocols.
www.bioline.org.br is a library of scientific bioscience journals published in developing countries.
http://repec.org - volunteers from 102 countries have collected almost 4 million publications on economics and related science.
www.science.gov is an American state search engine on 2200+ scientific sites. More than 200 million articles are indexed.
www.pdfdrive.com is the largest website for free download of books in PDF format. Claiming over 225 million names.
www.base-search.net is one of the most powerful researches on academic studies texts. More than 100 million scientific documents, 70% of them are free
