Tradicija je rekla, da je v vojni in ljubezni vse dovoljeno. Jaz pa verjamem, da se edina resnična svoboda lahko najde le v umetnosti. Umetnosti življenja. Beni/19/Slovenija

So why are the majority of Slovenes conservative and racist, when they migrate in such large numbers for economic reasons?
The ones that are, don’t migrate. Roughly I could divide Slovenians into these  groups:
1. Old people that are very patriotic and hate everything non-Slovenian, but complain about EVERYTHING in our country. Nothing is ever good enough and every other country has it better.
2. Conservative adults that were brought up by the first group.
3. Conservative and racist youth - I don’t know why, but we have them.
4. The educated and open-minded minority of elders, adults and mostly youngsters.

'But there is a bright side, we have accepted a law now that allows LGBT people to marry, but I think we have to wait till the end of this year for this law to get in use.' This makes me so happy :') omg!!! Gahhh what is it with homophobes always comparing same sex marriage and LGBT people adopting, to pedophilia it's ridiculous. Ergh I've seen so many East European homophobes say that; I think they get it from Russia?! Possibly.
If you ask me, they get it from their uneducated minds. They barely read anything and if so, they read the tabloids that sign themselves as “newspapers” and stuff like that. Fear of the unknown ...

Why did Slovenia accept so few refugees? What can you/people do to make Slovenia be more accepting to people/migrants of different races into your country?
The same reason LGBT marriage proposal wasn’t accepted. The majority of our people is conservative, racist and stupid. It was a complete fiasco with the refugee crisis here. They even built a sharp fence. Anyway, they still came to Slovenia and we, volunteers helped them by collecting necessities and helping at the centres. At the end, a lot of refugees didn’t want to stay here, because they wanted to go to the northern countries. But the ones that asked to stay here were welcomed, and I think there are some that EU “ordered” us to welcome here. But honestly, I do not know how this deciding works ...Fun fact: You wil not find a town in Slovenia, where there is not at least one family that does not origin from Slovenia, yet we are so discriminatory towards refugees.

"Everything is a bit more complex than what I wrote, I can try and explain it to you in details if you want." Please do, I'm disappointed Slovenia didn't legalise same sex marriage :L. I had a feeling you would for some odd reason, I really thought Slovenia was liberalising or becoming more inclusive. I hope it happens in the near future then, I guess.
Well, the problem with Slovenian people is that the majority (particularly the ones living on the country side) is very conservative. In all “big” cities the law was put through, but because we have so many villages, where people are still living by the word of God, the negative result happened. Also, the whole campaign was just a mess on both sides, truly. They were all radically unprepared and misinformed. People who were against LGBT marriage even said it would allow LGBT people to adopt children (which is completely fine to me), which WASN’T EVEN IN THE LAW PROPOSAL. I remember one saying that this law will allow pedophiles to buy children on a grocery market. But there is a bright side, we have accepted a law now that allows LGBT people to marry, but I think we have to wait till the end of this year for this law to get in use.

NASVIDENJE

Hey, so I've been thinking about this since a while ago-but why did Slovenia reject same sex marriage legalisation in the referendum? That decision made international news (that's how I know about it lol). The Independent wrote an article about it. It's disappointing :/ you could have further ensured the rights + better treatment of LGBT ppl-I'm quite sad about it actually. Lately I've been trying to keep up with East European (EE) politics, I tend to read articles from EE sources nowadays too.
Well, let me try to sum it up. Slovenia still has a lot of conservative people who are against anything connected to lgbt people and (yes, still) women. They even said that legalisation of lgbt rights would lead to the legalisation of pedophilia and zoophilia. And those people are not just old village people, there is a lot of youngsters that are against the rights. Another problem is also that only 11% of Slovenia’s population came and voted. Which is shameful. But we have later accepted a law which allows lgbt people to marry, which is a step forward. It will be in use next year. Everything is a bit more complex than what I wrote, I can try and explain it to you in details if you want.
