❝  here  like  as  in  ,  my  apartment  ?  ❞  if  you  could  call  it  that  -  Vi  knew  she  was  being  cold  ,  and  a  little  closed  off.  Seeing  Rachel  in  danger  -  trying  to  help  her  only  reminded  Vi  of  all  the  things  that  went  on  between  herself  and  Caitlyn.  How  quickly  that  had  deteriorated  and  how  she'd  told  herself  she  wouldn't  get  close  to  anyone  else  -  and  then  Rachel  came  into  her  life…

Vi  was  still  as  Rachel  approached  her  ,  feeling  a  flush  of  embarrassment  as  the  other  sat  down  on  the  thin  mattress  below  them.  Vi  wanted  to  protest  ,  but  her  words  we  lost  before  they  reached  her  throat.  Maybe  she  didn't  need  looking  after  (  she  did  )  ,  but  it  was  nice  to  have  someone  with  her  again  -  in  the  dark  of  night  when  the  worst  thoughts  crept  in.

Vi takes Rachel's hand, and Rachel can't tell whether her heart has sped up or stopped entirely... but! She effortlessly maintains her composure, and goes on to intertwine her fingers with the brawler's. All the while, a grin stretches from ear to ear. “Oh?” Inquired the blonde rhetorically as she lifted her brows and looked in the other's direction.

“Is that a bad thing?” As she speaks, Rachel's smile twists into a self-satisfied smirk, accompanied by the glint of mischief in her eyes. “In my experience, that's a sight I'd die for.”

As he pocketed his phone, a smile stretched from ear to ear on Rachel. “Is it a problem if I am?” Asked the blonde, peering up at Rafe from beneath her lashes. Of course she was-but she wasn't going to admit it so easily. “And if I am... what are you going to do about it?” She asked, brows raising challengingly.

"smartass." he counters back, cupping the back of her head to bring her closer and kissing the top of her head. he tilts the phone back to his mouth. "hey, sarah...yeah i'm going to have to call you back. something important came up." and before his sister could protest, he hung up the phone and turned towards rachel. "you feeling needy or something?"

#canonically; rachel was a part of the tempest and she was cast as prospero.#except ... prospero became /prospera/ just for her. 🙂‍↕️ but also rae has the potential to be a nickname or short for rachel and prospero / prospera also makes me think of the word prospering so if you put all of that together it makes me think of this: rachel, prospering (in spite of everything that happened to her, despite everything that happened to her).

that's really, really true, too! honestly, that lingers in my mind, all the time and comes back every time i look at rachel's url, but i didn't know how to articulate it, but you did and you did it better than i would have by a long shot, so thank you for that, tessa! 🥹🥰

side note (which may or may not get extensively long because i live and love to talk about rachel amber): rachel prospering, rachel thriving, rachel growing and changing is amongst my favorite things to write. rachel loving, and being loved, and learning she is capable of loving someone and being loved in return is amongst my favorite things to write.

rachel deserved a life. rachel deserved to live. rachel deserved to be someone and something beyond a mystery and a missing girl. she deserved more personality and more depth than that. that's why, i think, while i don't have many ships or verses for rachel, i love, love, love the ones that i do have, because in them, rachel gets to thrive, and grow. in them, she comes into herself, and she finds and surrounds herself with people who encourage her to grow, and to be herself, people who love her for her, and not for anything she does or pretends to be.

with that last post, comes a reminder: rachel is very self involved. rachel is very me, me, me. rachel will throw others and her relationships into the fire, if it means saving herself. rachel looks out for herself first. and if at any time she puts you above herself, that's a tell tale sign she really, really cares about you.
