Has anyone ever successfully gained a second life or respawned? Is the process painful?

"Yes to both. It is said to be extremely painful. The steps towards a second life are agonizing, however Two Time and I suffer them together. I still remember their tail sprouting... their screams still haunt my nightmares."

you mentioned that two time has been uneasy recently because of the disconnection from Spawn, is there any way that you can communicate with Spawn outside of the temple? Is there maybe an alter inside your home that you could access?

Also, two time be sure to take care of yourself, I know that you let your hair get wild when your not doing well

"...well, yes. There are ways, but... they aren't fun. The Spawn punishes us when we allow the temple to be damaged, so we give it breathing room during repairs so it may have mercy on us. We continue our usual prayers, though. Apologies for the time we were gone, by the way. The Spawn was unhappy."
