I just found out that mer-sugi was actually Mizuchi-sugi and my SakaTaka brain is definitely not thinking of Shinsuke as a water dragon in conjunction with Tatsuma who is also there with all the dragon and water imagery.

Definitely not thinking of a Namija Tatsuma who always comes to visit the estuary and see the handsome Mizuchi of the connecting river.

Takasugi fans I need your help. I keep seeing mermaid/ningyo takasugi art and I'm assuming it's based on official merch the same way Cow Hijikata/土方と牛ろう was based on that one zodiac keychain line. What are the origins of Mer-sugi?
