Psi Fi in Multiverse
17K posts
Hi, I'm Psi Fi. I am a middle aged Christian, with a deep love for stories, especially science fiction and fantasy. Some of my main fandoms are Marvel comics, Doctor Who (sort of), Batman, Beetlejuice, and well, a loooot of others. This is a random blog of things I love, including fandoms, pictures of cute animals, food, and other things that catch my interests. I hope you enjoy!

mixed feelings
I just watched the horror movie Rosario and...it has good points and bad. I mostly liked it, except for the ending.
Okay, for the those who don't know, Rosario's grandmother was a witch doctor. Worried for Rosario's future, her dad makes a deal with an evil spirit, Kobayende. Which, okay, yikes, but this isn't treated as a good thing, so fair enough. In fact, that is the cause of all the problems for poor Rosario. Grandma has been protecting Rosario, but now she's dead and the poodoo is hitting the fan.
One thing I love about this movie is Rosario is actually likeable and sympathetic! That's rare in horror movies these days. She's not a mean, nasty person. She's a bit lost and doesn't make good choices. She doesn't start off having much sympathy for those struggling. But, she is someone trying to be a good person.
The thing I love MOST about this movie is Joe. Ngl, I ship Joe and Rosario. Their interactions are pure gold.
I hate that Joe never got his air fryer back. I mean, why? Her dad finds the air fryer and Rosario's immediate reaction wasn't to rush it over to him?? So sad.
The worst part about this movie is the ending. Look. If they're planning a sequel, I can understand making it plain the bad thing isn't really gone. Fair enough. But, it makes things seem pretty pointless and hopeless. That isn't fun to watch. It makes the movie less scary, because it feels less real.
For me, that's a real problem with modern horror. It's so busy being dark and gritty, that it becomes cynical and depressing, not an honest reflection of life.
Rosario unfortunately continues that trend. While evil is clearly portrayed and called evil...good is mostly absent...worse, it is ignored. Yes, Rosario and her family are Catholic, but they seem to be mostly cultural Catholics. It doesn't affect the way they behave in spiritual matters. The writers needed to either not make them Catholics or use their Catholicism as a foil to the evil Rosario faces, a way for her to fight back. If you're going to portray supernatural evil, then good has to exist, too.
And, no, the grandmother's version of witchcraft doesn't count as good. It's her spell book that allows the father to make his deal. Using her magic, the grandmother is only temporarily able to keep the evil at bay. The sad thing is Rosario never really stands a chance, because the only solution offered to her is also the source of the problem.
I was disappointed in both the main ending and the alternate ending, which was really just the same concept expressed a bit differently.
So, here's how I think the movie should end. Instead of six months later, it's a year later, maybe two. Basically, the alternate ending, except we don't hear Rosario praying before her family shows up. Instead of touching hands with her mother, Rosario begins praying the Lord's prayer. The images disappear and her secretary comes back, telling Rosario her husband is on the phone. She picks up and it's Joe! He asks her to bring home some frozen french fries. We see him standing in their kitchen, next to an air fryer, with some food laid out, ready to be cooked.

Warning / PSA for my fellow Christians
Just ran into my first slop AI "Bible verse" that was just fully, completely made up.
When you spot a verse you don't have memorized floating around in the wild, make sure you doublecheck it.
Be prepared for people to start citing these things, believing these things. Be prepared for some tough conversations.
And, uh, maybe stick with using your grandma's old copy instead of buying new for a while....

The antisemitic edge lord's on social media do not represent the average Christians opinions on Jews. They wouldn't dare say that shit openly because they know they would be ostracized and they're typically not involved in religion outside of social media anyways.

i would like to take the stance that darth vader Would be a good dad, but it's still probably* better for him to NOT raise the twins.
yes, i know, canon-vader isn't all that great to the twins (final moments aside)! plenty of questionable parenting decisions! but here's the thing: it IS the love that redeems him. that's the nature of star wars and its writing: love is the most powerful force of all. of COURSE anakin skywalker would do whatever it takes for his kids: it's factual, irrefutable canon that he'd kill for them and die for them in equal measure.
BUT my main issue ISN'T whether he'd be a good parent, because i'm sure he'd try his best, but BEING STUCK IN AN ABUSIVE ENVIRONMENT HIMSELF would mean the twins would likely not grow up all that well! oh, he'd definitely protect them to the best of his ability, but it would be kind of hard to do so if ol' sidious in the back is eyeing up two potential future apprentice options! and one that might end with only one (1) skywalker left alive by the end!
mr. "grew up enslaved but with a good mother who tried her best" would know ALL about it, i daresay! remember this kid being completely nonchalant about discussing gore and abuse at age 9? because we're just going to have THAT all over again if it's darth vader raising the twins with ol' sidious over his shoulder, but metaphysically evil edition!
(*: i said probably, because this is assuming that anakin doesn't flat-out kill the old turd or escape with the twins. if he DOES do that, this would be a Very different story)
TLDR: if anakin Did get to raise the twins (with the otherwise same ending in ROTS), he Would be a good parent… in the same way shmi was a good parent to him: trying their best, but ultimately unable to completely protect their child(ren) on account of living in a fundamentally abusive environment, and thus not in any optimal position to be raising any child(ren)

It has just occurred to me that of all the characters in Winnie the Pooh, the only ones that lack both fingerless stuffing hands and faint seam lines (the indications that someone is a stuffed animal) are Rabbit and Owl. Which carries the possible implication that Rabbit and Owl are just a normal rabbit and owl living with a bunch of sentient stuffed animals.
Tumblr media
And somehow this makes Rabbit’s constant consternation with all of his neighbors even funnier to me.

Took bby Grogu to see the chosen one ! ! ! & had some other fun moments @ my local comic convention🎉
I really love Star Wars. For a million reasons. Including its many recurring themes & messages, one of them being:
“No matter what you do wrong, it’s never too late for you. There is still a spark of goodness inside you. There is someone who still loves you. There is someone who is willing to suffer and die for you, to bring you back to the light.
It’s the message that Padmé offers in her dying words.
It’s the message Luke brings when he confronts Vader and the Emperor at the end of Episode 6.
It’s the message Rey offers to Kylo Ren in Episodes 8-9.
It’s the message of the Prodigal Son.
It’s the message of the Gospel.
Of course, in our polarized society today, it feels so much easier to just write off our enemies. ‘They’re too far gone.’ ‘They’re hopeless.’ ‘They’re ______.’
Star Wars doesn’t ignore the existence of evil. In fact, it reveals how seductive it is, even to the good guys.
But Star Wars still points to the possibility of redemption, even for the vilest offender.
And that gives me hope.” - Star Wars “Ring Theory:” What’s Really at the Center? by Andrew Berg on Substack
Jesus is that person who doesn’t give up on us & made it possible for us to come back to the light! Because of what He did, we get to be close to Him if we choose to accept & follow Him 🫶🏻 He really is the closest & best friend I’ll ever have & I’m so grateful for His patience with me when I mess up, get too focused on myself, my fears, etc.!
I think good stories like Star Wars & many others are really great tools that can help shift our focus/give our minds a break, especially when the world seems so incredibly dark.
They can remind us of the light of God’s presence & inspire us to do the good we can in the ‘real’ world. Also they’re just really cool, lol. It’s a blessing to experience/celebrate them & the incredible artists that make them happen🥲
God loves you so much & I love you so much, May the Force Be With You, Always
🤍💙🧡

Vader learned about his child though he believed he had only one. He track down Luke as a baby and grabbed him. Unfortunately Vader doesn’t have much experience cuddling and being comforting. His Sith side doesn’t help much. He is horrified when Luke begins to shrink and doesn’t gain weight. Vader searches for anyone who can help him. He finds a solution but it’s not one he wants. In order to ensure Luke is healthy he must embrace the light side of the force so the baby can have the comfort he needs to grow.
