There is no validation in being strong.  If others can not see the wars that wage beneath the surface, they simply assume that they don't exist.  If you can hold yourself together, then you just haven't been through as much as somebody who can't. We live in a world where we want to be seen as broken and damaged, letting our insecurities define us because we know all too well that our strengths won't paint the picture that others want to see.  Strength is not admired, and not sought after. We do not want to be secure; things that are secure don't get extra support.  We do not seek people who are strong; they do not fulfill our egotistical need to feel better about ourselves by soothing someone else's insecurities.  We desire scars so that someone can come along and kiss them for us, because we are so consumed in this romanticized image of being broken and having someone fix us.  But in the end, strength isn't about who's going to kiss your scars and make you strong, because everyone wants to be a savior for their own selfish reasons.   There is no outward reward for being strong; there is no sympathy, no empathy, no validation for what you go through, there’s hardly ever a second thought.  But strength is about not needing somebody to kiss your scars for you.  Strength isn’t the inability to feel pain, it isn’t the ability to numb yourself and put on a smile and pretend like things are okay.  True strength is when you feel all of that pain at once, and it’s nearly crippling, but your smile is genuine and your laugh is pure because you know you can keep holding yourself together even if it's with popsicle sticks and glue... and maybe some glitter.

I need support before I do something I’ll regret.  Not anything too major, don’t be concerned for my life or anything like that, but if someone could shoot me a message so I have someone to talk to for the time being that would be gr8
