I think it's a combo of him being young and male and a lot of fans being teenagers from the US. From what I can tell, young conservatives and rich kids in the US tend more towards God-guns-and-money masculinity, whereas the poncy kind is viewed as suspicious by those types. Which is how you get kids on tiktok saying og elias is queer coded and anti capitalist, because the kind of masculinity practised by posh twats is the UK is considered counter culture in the US (which is probably a fact of rainbow capitalism but shhh).
Then add in the fact that they're teens, so they want to ship (questionably...) hot boys with each other without getting cancelled, and og elias is the only other other character to be vaguely from the same time period as michael and gerry, and you have fanon elias.
ok please tell me people don't legit consider 'his dad called him lazy and was aristo scum' to be a Tragic Backstory because. my guys. oh man.

Calling people whiny babies for asking for their sexuality to be recognised and respected is the new woke take, pass it on.
If any of you uwu motherfuckers ever call me ~ achillean ~ or whatever tf I'm considering it a hate crime, why couldn't you ppl pick an actually good, irl person to represent the mlm community like Alan Turing, instead of a historically shitty fictional character, why can't we be Turinean or something, why can't y'all read a history book
Sorry if you like the term I guess but jfc it's just embarrassing

Really hate to break this to yall, but most historical people full stop kinda sucked. Like I guarantee you that sappho, a rich woman raised thousands of years ago in a society that venerated war, had some views you would consider repugnant. We continue to admire these people in spite of this because we recognise that people are limited by the society and time they exist in, and even historian figures considered radical in their day are unlikely to hold up to our modern standards of wokeness. So when you single out problematic historical figures specifically on the basis of their being gay men, it really says something about how you view gay men as inherantly more morally bankrupt than the average person.
Maybe I'll make a mlm identity based on Freddy Mercury, does that already exist? Mercurian sounds sick

Lucien: When I was a kid I didn't really have a family and people picked on me due to my appearance.
Fjord: Mhm.
Lucien: Then I joined this organization, but I have a problem with authority so I left to do my own thing.
Beau: Yup.
Lucien: This group of powerful mages strengthened my magic capabilities, even though it left permanent marks on my skin.
Caleb: Ja klar.
Lucien: I was murdered, but not really since I was able to come back, but it was still a traumatic experience.
Veth: Yeah.
Lucien: There's a part of my life that I don't remember because technically someone else had control of my body.
Yasha: Okay.
Lucien: Now there are people who say my relationship with the entities that gave me my powers is unhealthy, but I feel that they understand and support me in ways no one else really has.
Jester: Sure.
Lucien: :)
Caduceus: ...You remind me of a pet squirrel I had once. It got rabies so we had to kill it.

Someone will write a two line positivity post and you jackals will immediately go 'what about this incredibly specific situation that you were definetely not referring to in which that would be bad? Huh? Op is a colonialist terf, map, anti-puppy and personally killed my cat' and then pat yourselves on the back and go 'yes I am very smart for taking something in the absolute worst faith possible. this is definetely not a reactionary thing to do. i love making my own life dark and miserable :)'

I want to respect everyone's religious beliefs so bad but then some off yall can't even be right about what your deities are the gods of. Like a lot of you haven't even bothered to do barebones level research about the culture you're apparently worshipping the gods of and every time someone reveals they have roughly 0.2 of an undergraduate module in classics knowledge about whatever god they're worshipling my fight not to roll my eyes grows harder.
Go forth and have fun my friend, but I do not understand why, if you want to practice a religion, you would not try and research a deity beyond their name and a vague idea of what they represent.
Like I'm not saying you need to be able to write a fully sourced essay on the metamorphic bear cult devoted to artemis in order to worship her, but having literally any knowledge of a deities real rites and practices could be useful? Maybe?
Also some of yall are literally just not worshipping what you think you are. Cultural consensus about what is virtuous and good shifts massively with time, as does how symbolism is interpreted, and a lot of people are just plain wrong about what deities, practices and myths actually stood for.
#paganism#greek gods#Other pantheons are not exempt from this#You just don't see the Romano-Celtic Gaulish pantheon getting misinterpreted on the Internet very often

BOLD OF YOU TO THINK THAT WILL STOP EM
A girl I knew got cancelled for writing porn where vitreous eye jelly was used as lube, the argument being that she was 'encouraging that behaviour'.
i think about that "the mechs glorify cannibalism" post so much because aside from how dumb it is. who has ever looked at jonny dville as a role model

Oh cool, I'll give you a quick tutorial sometime if you want?
I have been made aware that skin stitching is a thing and I will now not be seen for 20 years as I figure out how to do it
