Best thing happened today

Ok so, I’m at the clinic because my tonsils have swelled and I can’t eat or drink anything without being in pain. So, all different sorts of people are here.

This includes two small kids who do not speak English and next to them is the only available seat.

So, the kids (again no English and I think I’m the only white person to come near them) look at me like I am the weirdest thing ever and begin to speak to me, which I do not understand but I do encourage them to keep talking.

Eventually, the boy notices that my car keys are out and available to be taken (They really aren’t as they are attached to my belt loop) so, when both his mother and I aren’t looking he comes up to me, gets in between my legs and grabs my keys. 🤣🤣

I don’t know what mom says but she looks mortified.

I’ve started to teach kids to knit 🧶.

Sorry if format is weird, I’m typing this on my phone.

So, context; I work at a Daycare that provides Before and After School programing. Basically from 6:30 am to 9:00 am and than from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm there are children at the Daycare.

On Snow days and P.A. Days however, parents still work so the kids come to us and we take care of them until parents get off work.

The older kids at the building (9-12 years) were learning how to finger knit, which is something I don’t know how to do.

So, some of the kids (6-7 years) in my class, asked to learn, I told them I don’t know how but, I can show them how to knit with needles instead.

I didn’t really think the kids would remember but, I still brought my knitting supplies. Wouldn’t you know it but;

A brother and sister learned and then brought it home as a family activity

One of my most aggressive kids finds it very calming, he now has a scarf of his own

And 2 girls share a knitting project going back and forth working on it when the others hands get tired

In total 15 have at least tried to knit and 7/15 kids love to knit with me in the morning and afternoon. And 6/15 of those kids aren’t from my class. They saw the 6-7 year olds knitting, wanted to try, and some of them really like it.

They also have the greatest reasons to knit as well! Here’s a list of reasons to learn how to knit, as told to me for children aged 6-12:

I wanted to knit my grandma something b/c she made me something

B/c my sister/brother is learning

B/c you’re teaching

I want my own scarf

I want to make myself a blanket

I want to make my sister a blanket for her stuffie

B/c you make it look fun

So I can make my own clothes

I love being working with kids man 💜

Does anyone else get so tired of this shit?

My father (57 male) and brother (18 male) just got finished “debating” me on why Sex Ed at too young of an age is creating Transgender confusion and by letting there be Gender Neutral bathrooms, there will be Gender Neutral parking spaces, and Gender Neutral water fountains, etc.

Too young is 12-16 years old btw

My father and brother literally asked me “where’s the line? After I can marry my dog because I identify as a dog”

Like after going back and forth with both of them I’m just so emotionally drained. I know that I could always not engage but, when both of them claim that by teaching children about the GayTM will make the kids gay, while having me, an out of the closet Pansexual, at the table I feel like I have to.

I’m just so tired of these “debates” because they keep bringing up things that they heard about (an example being a Grade 2 teacher some where teaching about anal sex to her Grade 2 class) but, I can’t bring up modern biology and psychology because “it’s all controlled by the left”.

I can’t keep going and my mother’s apathy towards it isn’t helping. I can’t do it anymore

I RAN OUT OF YARN!!!

As you would’ve seen from my last post I’ve started making a cardigan/jacket thing that will be too big.

Well, as I was making the sleeves today, I saw I was running out of the yarn, the colour is called mint, no problem right? Just go to the store where you bought the yarn and get more, right? 

WRONG!!

They no longer sell it in the store! 

Ok, buy it online, right? 

WRONG!! 

I’m moving back home, across the world, if I buy it online it might not show up before I leave. 

I’ve asked my sister to buy it for me, since she still lives at home, and that way it’ll be there for me while I do my quarantine. I just hope that she gets the right shade.

I learned something today

So, I have made a mistake. I have used 8.0 MM knitting needles for this cardigan and... it’s huge.

This cardigan is going to be like a dress-cardigan or something. I’m not going to undo it to “fix” it as this is going to be awesome and very cozy. I, now know, that 60 Stitches on 8.0 MM knitting needles is enough to fit my torso just fine. 

I still need to make the sleeves and... that is going to take a while.
