depriving yourself of anything you need won’t help you in any way. it will only leave you feeling uncomfortable, stressed, hungry or even sick. you’re not making yourself stronger by denying your needs. needing anything is not a sign of weakness or selfishness. it’s not morally wrong to have needs, even if they are different than others. you don’t have to earn things, your life should not be about self-sacrifice. this is not martyrdom. you don’t have to suffer so much to prove you need anything, or to earn anything. this is your life and your body. don’t be ashamed of meeting its basic needs.

as a person who lost a loved one to addiction, i would rather have them be able to use safely in a sterile environment with safe equipment, where they can 100% know the drug is not laced with something deadly, and live- than them dying because they didn’t know what the drug contained, or because no one was there to make sure they weren’t ODing, or because they used dirty equipment in a dirty environment.

again more simply put, i would rather have my dead loved one continue using drugs in a safe manner and stay alive, than die the way they did because the stigma around substance use is not only dangerous, but lethal.

I’ve been told my entire life not to take showers or baths during thunderstorms because lightening can travel through the plumbing and you know what? I don’t care anymore. If God decides to kill me in that ridiculous manner, it’ll be a hell of a way to go. Going to take the risk. Fuck it.
