i'm alive i promise! been doing really well since i first moved into this apartment about a month ago, just haven't really had the urge to draw very much...until yesterday, that is. started and finished this on the same day. ough

i've been passively trying to figure out how i want to portray nightmare moon in my next gen au - and this drawing still isn't her in her entirety, actually! luna is mid-transformation in this piece (which took roughly 8 hours from start to finish)

I prefer semi-cloudy days because I can't make up my mind for anything worth a damn 😭

I would prefer sunny days, but it tends to get too hot for me. Cloudy days make me nervous that it'll rain (I have severe sensory issues when it comes to rain)

I wanted to apologize for the lack of art, even though I know I don't need to.

I've hit SEVERE burnout and haven't been able to draw anything in more than a month now, not even a sketch :(

The stroke recovery is going well, though. I've almost finished occupational therapy, and I graduated physical therapy a month or two ago. The main thing holding me back now is the fatigue. This fatigue is no joke. I'm completely unable to work more than 4 hours 4 days a week.

I'm applying for disability. Here's hoping I get it. I really need it at this point.

@puppywaves is in need of a new pair of glasses. Insurance will cover half, but they still need $400 to cover the rest. To help with the difference, I'm offering commissions!

i hate having to do this again, but...funds are getting really low, and i had a panic attack about money yesterday.

as you all know, i had a massive embolic cryptogenic stroke on may 21st of 2024. as of july 10th, i still have not been able to go back to work, as my brain is very much still healing. unfortunately, i still live in a capitalistic nightmare (USA), so my roommates and i have really been feeling the absence. my brother has begun working overtime to make ends meet, and his car needs to be repaired (the AC went out right before summer, and we're currently in the midst of a heat wave, with temperatures getting as high as 105 degreess fahrenheit). both of my roommates are still working fulltime, and we're still incredibly stressed about making ends meet.

i really wanna help out however i can. don't worry about donating if you aren't able, even just a share means the world to me.

how do you properly mourn the loss of your entire identity?

it's no secret twilight places a lot of her self worth in her natural talent for magic. in the aftermath of the stroke, magic nearly becomes impossible - what little she can manage is exhausting and she has to sleep for hours immediately afterward. even levitation is a draining nightmare, let alone teleportation - spells she found so easy before require so much concentration and it's devastating.

Honestly, the doctors were constantly amazed by how quickly I was recovering, which they attributed to me being so young (I'm only 23 - another reason why they're so confused on why it happened in the first place). Neuroplasticity is a wonderful thing, and it's crazy how the brain works so hard to recover from something like this.

I don't at all mean this in a bragging way, of course. I was completely discharged from the hospital, rehab and all, exactly two weeks after the stroke happened. But I still have a long way to go. I've been home for a while now and I'm still in no place to be able to work due to overstimulation and other problems, like the fatigue, which it sounds like your mom is experiencing too (post-stroke fatigue is SUCH a beast - they had to prescribe a stimulant just to keep me awake).

Thank you again for sharing your story and I'm wishing the best for your mom, it sounds like she's recovering well! A stroke is a massive medical event and it is possible she will be recovering from it in some ways for the rest of her life, and I might too. I've been told that the fatigue and balance problems are common issues that never quite go away. Just something to anticipate!

Needless to say, this event left me with significant trauma. While in the hospital, I discovered @beluvbug's Princess of Gender Dysphoria AU, and was lucky enough to become friends with Alex. He's been encouraging and helping me create my own Horse Angst AU, and thus, I present my own AU: Princess of Weakness. The premise is simple, and I hope this helps me navigate my own trauma; Twilight has a stroke, and has to figure out how to cope with the aftermath. (Luckily, Alex's Princess AJ is gonna be around to help her, as shown in the second image!)

I'm really excited and nervous for this. For now, it's just sketches, and posts likely won't be very consistent since again, I'm still very much in recovery, and drawing has been hard on me energy-wise.

I'm so tired, and I haven't even begun.

The recovery from the stroke has been brutal. I tried to go back to work on Monday, just for a 4 hour shift, and had to go home within 30 minutes because I was so overstimulated I broke down.

I think I've been pushing too hard and overestimating myself. It was only a month after the stroke happened.

I feel so ashamed. I've been off from work for over a month now and finances are really feeling the absence.

Her Fascination, Princess Twilight

no bonus version this time, but i do have some rambling below the cut!

as the youngest of the four alicorns, twilight chose to take the title 'princess' due to her discomfort of being considered royalty at all. even after she takes over for celestia and luna after their retirement, she insists on continuing to be referred to as princess twilight.

despite being the princess of magic, twilight doesn't really have the colorful, awe-inspiring changes in her mane as the other alicorns - but make no mistake, this is also a display of her own power, to be able to refuse to let it change her body. when her control slips, her hair turns into a pure, semi-transparent veil of shimmering light and color, a sight that is most rare and beautiful...and humiliating for twilight herself. i just didn't really want to draw it at the moment, but maybe someday

and that's the conclusion of my princess chibi series - onto the mane 6! i'll be posting all 4 princesses together shortly :)
