Hello! If you don’t already know me, I’m Jai, and I’m currently right in the middle of an obsession with the Knights of Ren. I don’t exactly know why my brain decided to cling to them and their non-existent lore as one of my only sources of dopamine, but alas.

This post by luke-shywalker made me finally write down all these thoughts I've had since re-reading the movie novelizations.

This is so heartbreaking, and I’m forever mad that with a character as compelling and interesting as Kylo Ren so many things just get glossed over.

First of all: what was it like for him to track down ancient Sith knowledge to find Exegol? As far as we know, he probably didn’t have much access to that kind of lore growing up. He’s alone, isolated, and likely kept in the dark about most of his own powers—and then he discovers all this history. That experience must have been hugely impactful.

Second: he becomes Supreme Leader and… nothing really happens with it? He’s a powerful, emotionally volatile young guy suddenly in charge of an empire. This is crazy stuff. Why did the First Order accept this without question? Did he actually lead them? Did anyone push back? Or did he just disappear into the Unknown Regions on a solo Sith quest? We never find out.

And then the original point: Kylo Ren spends most of his life being broken and abused. He leaves everyone he loves because of the manipulation he endured. Then he finally stands up to his abuser and kills him—a moment that’s huge for any survivor. And then what? He learns the man he killed wasn’t even real. That there are dozens of versions of him floating in tanks. How did it feel to find out about the existence of Palpatine. Did he know that Sidious manipulated and abused his own grandfather? We know Ren is determined to kill the past and that includes Palpatine, but that doesn't mean he didn't feel anything during this time. But his emotional state is completely brushed over. He finds out about Palpatine and Snoke and then he only focuses on them as an means to an end? His feelings aren't even mentioned in the novelization. Not one line of emotional fallout.

Are you kidding me?

This story is begging for exploration. All I want is a novel or film from Kylo Ren’s point of view. Because they did him so bad.
