It's my goal to finish some monthly prompt lists and I decided to let people request the characters I write about! comfy-vember is platonic hurt-comfort with an emphasis on comfort, fanovember is literary themes, and fluffcember is all fluff. I finally got a ref sheet for Kestrel! and a few fun facts

- midland smooth softshell turtle, Apalone mutica mutica - one year older than Raph - it/its pronouns - limps on right leg - varying pain and numbness along lower spine from childhood injury - doesn't talk and communicates through sign language or texting - adopts a green-eyed tortoiseshell street cat named Lacy - lighter lines are scars

I could've sworn I talked about her before, but tumblr isn't showing anything... oh well.

About a year and a half ago, I made a turtle yokai OC based on the Ryukyu black-breasted leaf turtle, an endangered species that's endemic to the Ryukyu islands in Japan. She's the seven-year-old adopted daughter of Yuichi Usagi. Unfortunately, she's also from the bad future of the when i found you series, so... There's that.

I redid the design of her facial markings half a dozen times and I'm still not sure I like it... The actual turtle's face is entirely orange and yellow, but that was overwhelmingly colourful to me. So I did some orange around the mouth and chin, the throat stripes, and a stripe of yellow that goes from the corner of her eyes and down her neck to along the top of her shoulders. I would've liked to have the spots be a little more irregular, but this is pretty much to my liking anyway.

Spent three hours designing a horse and decided to give her to Kestrel. It names her Mismatch because of her heterochromatic eyes. Where and how did it find a horse in the middle of NYC? None of my business. She's a brindle overo blue roan Paso Fino. I used lineart from BronzeHalo, a roan pattern from Kumoulogy, and a stripe brush from critelli.

I just know that Leonardo called Usagi babygirl and none of the teens believe he ever dated a girl so they're not sure exactly what was going on with Leonardo's love life but they're all surprised he ever actually dated someone never mind got married

“I get the feeling you’re taking it easy on us,” Raph says.

“That’s no fair!” Mikey whines. “How are we supposed to learn if you’re holding back?”

“Because I’d hurt you if I wasn’t,” Leonardo explains. The thought is tempting sometimes, when it comes to Leo’s continued insistence on calling him ‘Old Blue’ like he’s some kind of elderly hound dog.

He doesn’t actually want to hurt them, though, not in the way they could be if he hit them. There’s occasional slip-ups in training, but Raph’s right, Leonardo is taking it easy on them. They’re accomplished in their own right, but they’re also still teenagers, and not nearly as practised as Leonardo is.

“I could totally beat you,” Leo decides. “I bet the whole ‘taking it easy’ thing is just an excuse so you can save face if one of us wins.”

“That is not what’s happening,” Donnie says from where he lies on his shell on the floor halfway across the gym, not looking away from his phone.

“You said you were putting your headset on noise-cancelling mode,” Mikey points out.

“I also have speech-to-text mode enabled so I can step in when Leo starts being stupid.”

“Shouldn’t that be ‘if Leo starts being stupid’?” Leo asks.

“No.”
