So all your brothers are half brothers? Do you all have different dads?
"Well, I, I mean, in, in the sense that, that they, they all have different dads from, from me, but, but the same mom, that, that makes them, them all half brothers," Russell said, "Not, not that it matters for, for us of, of course. We're, we're brothers no, no matter what."
Russell has to take a brief moment to think and calculate.
"Lewis and, and Martin have, have the same dad. So, so do the, the twin brothers, Truman and, and Simon," Russell explains, "After that, the, the rest, the rest of us, Bradley, David, Travis, and, and I had, had dif-different dads. So it's, it's six, six dads total. Simon's actually trying to, to find out who, who they might have been and, and see ab-about potentially con-contacting them."

Russell. What you're doing when you pretend you're talking to someone like Cassandra (so you don't show too much emotion or give more information than you want) is called a grey rock method. But you don't need to do it all the time. It's not like doctor guy knows your brother is dead, and he just talks a bit rudely to everyone.
@sodoffyabuggers because this presumably in reference to our thread.
"He, he doesn't need to, need to know about Lewis, or, or any-anything else that, that goes too deeply into, into my life. He was, he was there for, for a drink and, and something to, to eat and, and not any-anything else," Russell only says, "It's, it's unlikely we'll, we'll run into, into each other again. I let my, my guard down too much in, in that moment and, and I need to, to be more careful. That was a, a good reminder to be. Yes, he, he was kind to, to help me, but, but he doesn't need my, my life story or, or to, to see any signs of, signs of my own weaknesses."

"It's, it's one of those games I, I think sadly fell, fell under the, the radar for, for a lot of people," Russell said, "But hope-hopefully with, with the Switch release in, in August, it'll, it'll make a, a comeback and, and more people will, will dis-discover it."
Russell laughed a little bit at the pun. That was a good one.
"Heh, I, I like that," Russell said, "Another few RPGs that, that are unique in, in that sense are, are Athen-Athenian Rhapsody, although that, that has real time dodging with, with turn based combat, like, like in the, the Mario and Luigi RPGs, In, In Stars and, and Time, and, and Everhood."
Russell smiled.
"Glad, glad to have helped you out a, a little there," Russell said. So it seemed that Artair was coming to a decision. Hopefully with some more info, Artair would be firmly set, "So, so Sea of, Sea of Stars doesn't have, have multiplayer but, but the devs are, are hoping to add it in, in the future. When, when it came to, to the story, I, I liked it for, for what it, it was. The, the main characters, Valere and, and Zale, who, who have, have the powers of, of the moon or, or sun res-respectively, must, must journey through the, the world to, to battle evil and, and save the, the world. I, I think its, its absolute real highlights were, were its designs, the, the combat, and, and the soundtrack. I, I also really liked the, the characters."
Russell then picked up a tablet device and opened it up, before going onto a launch trailer for the game, just so Artair could get a better idea of what to expect.
"Sorry for, for the rambling then."
"Haha-- yeah. I agree. I played it forever ago with a friend, so I played it through with her once she got older. She liked it a lot." He rubs his neck. "It's nice to hear you know what I'm talking about. I guess I shouldn't be surprised someone else would know it, especially with the release, but it always felt like no one knew what I was talking about, haha. But ah-- yeah. That's off topic, haha. But She even pre-ordered one of the Judge plushies. Something in that vein would definitely be up her alley."
The list is honestly more than helpful for him. "Wow, thank you, really. It means a lot." He wants to at least acknowledge the kindness that it is for this guy to take the time to explain. Maybe it was part of his job, but it felt above and beyond, and he appreciated it. Once he has, Artair rubs at his goatee in thought. He's pretty sure he saw little nightmares on her steam when he checked before coming out. The others all sounded interesting, but he can only pick one on his budget.
"You know, I think I'll go with your recommendation. Sea of Stars sounds up her alley. The turn based strategy in Pokemon was her favorite part too. Can you tell me a little more about it? Like-- do you know if it's multi-player? What did you think of the story? If it's not too much trouble, I mean. I can probably just read the case too, haha." He rubs his neck with a sheepish expression.
#townofcadence#Aww thank you that's really kind of you.#I can say the same when I saw you roleplaying with Artair too#Adorkable Astrophile | Russell

"Heh, that, that has, that has come, come in handy be-before though. When, when people think you're, you're all, you're all weak and, and helpless, it, it makes it, it makes it easier to surprise them," Russell said, "That, and, and fighting dirty."
After all, it had worked when that monster hunter Five had kidnapped him. Of course that took a little bit of luck too, but some of it was definitely from using his smarts.
"Well, I'm, I'm not gonna be, be doing any, any of that on, on purpose," Russell said, "But, but I'll keep you in, in mind in, in case any, any of that does, well, happen at, at some point."
He really didn't like the way Worth's face seemed to light up at that. Hopefully he wasn't one of those mad scientist types who could make him wish he could die. And as much as he hated the tone and the way Worth asked, Russell could at least use that to move away from the subjects of dismemberment and decapitation.
Shit. He didn't seem too pleased to hear a guy's name, did he? Maybe he thought it was from a boyfriend... I better not say too much there. At least strangers don't need to know who I date. Just as well I'm not wearing my pride pins right now either. Okay, enough of being vulnerable now, need to put some distance back between us. I got too careless. Time to pretend he's like Cassandra... like any outward emotion will have bad consequences.
"Well, sir, he thought it, it was lucky," Russell said. Despite the stammer, his voice remained completely neutral, and while there was a hint of hurt in his eyes, perhaps even grief, his face stayed the same as it has been before, "And, and when I, I moved, moved out, he, he gave it to, to me 'just, just in cast I, I needed a, a bit of extra', he, he said. That's, that's all. But, but you don't need me, me boring you with, with petty, petty little details and, and things. You, you came to, to have, have a drink, not, not hear my, my life story."
Would he still be alive if he hadn't given it to me? Would that bit of extra luck have saved him? Could I have saved him if I had just stayed a little bit longer?
Those questions couldn't truly be answered, yet they still bullied his way to the front of his mind even now. So Russell listened to the list, forcing himself to focus on that. Cartoon guy? Had Worth also met Mr. Ring-a-Ding. Nah, there were other toons out there. Russell couldn't make assumptions like that. A cat-man sounded like Lark, but again, there were other cat people out there.
The raccoon thing? That didn't actually sound too different to most raccoons. But it could have been a human stuck as one too, like the fairy tale of a princess being turned into a swan.
"Wonder, wonder if, if there's a, a way to, to turn him back if, if he's been, been cursed," Russell said, "Not that I, I would know. I'm not really a, a magic person or, or anything. I mean, I, I can pick up when, when they're nearby, but um, well, yeah... I don't really have any, any powers like, like spells."
Oh, Russell was believed. Worth had encountered plenty of supernatural type people in his time and, even though it seemed like new types kept popping up everywhere lately, he was pretty open minded about this kind of stuff. Especially when he saw the "rewinding" with his own two eyes.
"Yuh, I mean--Yer not exactly a hero lookin' type guy but this would really come in handy in a fight. Is it any damage? Like wut if yer head is blown off completely? Wut if yer...limbs are chopped off?" His face lit up a little too much at the prospect of those things happening but he was curious! In a medical sense of course.
That face dropped when Russell mentioned who the handkerchief was from. Lewis? Brother? Usually special embroidered handkerchiefs had the person's own initial stitched onto it or the initial of a lover. "...Why'd yer brother give you a fancy sneeze rag?" Kind of a blunt question there, but that was something he hadn't encountered before.
But, uh... "Oh, yuh. Seems like there's more of that side than any other side lately. Let's see I met..." He ticked them off the fingers of one hand, "Vamps, werewolves, ghosts, some lady who was half ghost, uhhhhh. This lil' lizard guy with red hair. Said he were a science experiment. I met a cartoon guy, I think. Oh! A cat-man." He was on the second hand by now but opened both with a little flourish. "There's a raccoon outside my place I'm pretty sure is a real guy who was cursed or somethin'. Not like a shape shifter or a wendigo just like fairy-tale cursed to be a raccoon. His eyes are too sharp. And his little hands..."
Eugh.
