the wuthering heights tag on this site is so painfully sanitised and booktoked discussion of the text is either rendered utterly vacant and shallow or ignored entirely in favour of wuthering heights as a Classic #wutheringheights #janeeyre #thepictureofdoriangray #darkacademia on a post that says some shit like ‘imagine drinking black coffee in the oxford university library… 🤎’. can we talk about the foul celtic knot of incest/pseudoincest between what starts as two families and becomes the family (cathy and heathcliff raised like brother and sister, cathy jr and linton talking about how they wish they were siblings and comparing themselves to mother and son and him being a caricature of her father his actual uncle and then getting married) as a metaphor for corruption through obsessive repetition and sinking rot

7. Luke Triton
Note: Felt like bridging the gap between my art style and Layton's more, I can't draw luke without giving him those tiny ovals for eyes.
Aside from my art, I'm still not all too optimistic about Flora reappearing in NWOS :/ but I really hope she does!

i think i like aristotle and dante discover the secrets of the universe so much because ari was the only 15-16 year old character that actually acted like he was 15-16. like he was confused and uncomfortable with himself he didn't feel like he was a real person yet his thoughts weren't complex but they were surprisingly deep he wasn't sure when he was supposed to start kissing people or drinking alcohol or anything he loved his parents but didn't know how to talk to them he was so sixteen years old and it felt so honest and can you tell how much i love this book

i will always adore anne brontë because it is absolutely a crime that she's overlooked in favour of her two sisters. i love the three of them but i do wonder what could have been if charlotte hadn't stopped the tenant of wildfell hall being reprinted...
It occurs to me every so often how criminally underrated The Tenant of Wildfell Hall is and then I get mad.

reading an anthology of the brontë sisters' poetry is so fun because you get to see all the similarities between them. they all have a slightly different voice, but the poems address such overlapping themes that it's hard not to draw parallels.

reblogging this post from my old blog because this is vital information to know about me
i'm so in love with lauren child's art. just real proof that art does not need to be 'perfect' to communicate it's message, and actually imperfection is sometimes more expressive. and the way she uses texture is just so wonderful to look at on the page, and her style is definitely distinctive, it just makes her books such a joy to read, especially when paired with the way she styles text.

professor layton is so insane to me like it starts out like heres a fun little tune! can you figure out how to get to the little town from this description? here's a fun little minigame! and somewhere along the line it morphs into this gentlemans hat is so big because it's full of TRAUMA and LOSS! everyone here is GRIEVING! put these cubes into the shape of a top hat! also here's the best soundtrack you have ever listened to, the most ridiculous, unique and beloved character design and hundreds of puzzles, enjoy you little fucking nerd but also you're like 8-12 yo when it irreversibly rewires your brain with every picarat collected
