For me, ig has gone from an app to share pretty pictures to a work thing and to now, an extension of myself, in a way that when I look back at it in 20 years, I should be able to say I was as authentic as I could be. So I’m going to be authentic and candid with you about this morning, because this morning was special. When I woke up and looked at myself in the mirror, I was stunned. I... I had woken up happy. I looked at myself and said, “I love you”, and I meant it. I meant it! For the first time in a long time. For the first time in a long time there was absolutely no fog in my head clouding my love for myself. I couldn’t believe it and I couldn’t stop saying it. That’s when I took this selfie because I don’t ever want to forget this date. This time last year, and for at least a year before that, I couldn’t imagine meaning it. I didn’t recognise the reflection in the mirror so how could I love her? But I knew that under all the facade of being ok, I was there, somewhere. Twelve years ago I moved out of home, lived a brimful journey but sometimes during brimful journeys you lose yourself. A year ago I decided to come back, and start my healing. I decided to survive. To stay alive. It wasn’t easy of course, but that’s a topic for another day. In this one year there were many temptations. Work that would have taken me elsewhere. Love that would have wanted me to be someone else. But I wanted to be me again. So I stayed and did the work on myself. This is me now. Blessed. Beautiful. Beaming. So here’s what you must know for YOU: It gets better. It really does. You’ll feel like yourself again I promise you. While I absolutely LOVE watching tutorials of and trying out unique makeup looks with dramatic eyes and cut creases and neons and what not, it’s also true that every makeup lover needs to master a few basic looks. 💋 Here are some things you must do if you like wearing makeup: 1. Find your perfect concealer - I am not wearing any foundation here. Just a concealer under the eyes, around the mouth and on any blemishes. It is the easiest way to create a natural-ish looking base without being covered in foundation everyday. Wearing: @maybelline Fit me. - 2. Find a blush that looks the MOST flattering on you. And ideally a blush and highlighter that go well together for a dewy cheek. Wearing: @inglot_india blush and @maccosmeticsindia soft and gentle highlighter. - 3. Find a mascara that makes your eyes look VAVAVOOM! I am wearing @maybelline push up drama. - 4. Find a neutral lipstick that doesn’t wash you out and enhances your colour. Wearing: @colourpopcosmetics Softii. - 5. Combining all of this, figure out your 5 minute makeup routine that you can pull out from your arsenal every time you want to look amazing but don’t have the time or the inclination to think too much. It now takes me 3 minutes to do this makeup. I do not wear makeup everyday but when I do, this is a go to. 🌟 BONUS TIP - The blush technique I have done here is called draping, which is simply countouring using blush. (Sweep blush from apple of the cheek all the way up to the temple in upward motion and blend blend blend.) Like it?
