This vivid yellow and black costume was very likely inspired by the extant “Prunkkleid” of Kurfürst (prince-elector) Moritz of Saxony (1521-1553) held at the Dresden Armory. The robe was restored via the Swiss Abegg Foundation over a period of seven years before it was exhibited to the public again in 2010.   The costume was made by Joanna Eatwell and her team for Damian Lewis as King Henry VIII in the 2015 miniseries 𝑾𝒐𝒍𝒇 𝑯𝒂𝒍𝒍, were he dressed in yellow alongside his new wife Anne Boleyn upon the announcement of the death of Katharine of Aragon.   The costume was spotted again in 2021 on Mark Stanley as King Henry VIII in 𝑨𝒏𝒏𝒆 𝑩𝒐𝒍𝒆𝒚𝒏.   Find out where else this costume has been spotted, and learn more about the Prnkkleid at Bit.ly/TudEliz197

Melisandre, the red witch!

Naerys is peak dark ages/early Middle Ages to me like everything I imagine her in just screams shame and guilt and prisoner 👍🏻

She is ashamed of simply having a body so she covers up every possible inch of it, out of guilt, modesty, and some semblance of control over her own life. Long sleeves that drape over her hands. Thick, heavy skirts that act like an iron curtain. Loose bodices that give the illusion of absolutely nothing going on underneath. Very drab and bland colors that dont catch the eye at all. Some type of full veil or head covering at almost all times (except when Aegon wants to humiliate her) Just does not want to be perceived or feel anyway in bare. Also every time I think of Naerys I think of those 13th century little drawings in the sides of manuscripts and scrolls. It’s literally her. Whump Queen Supreme

it’s actually kinda racist in general for people to throw hissy fits every time someone decides to draw a character as anything less than lily white regardless of what character you’re doing it about. doesn’t matter if u think it’s problematic to make valyrians asian or northerners indigenous or dornish people as “too dark” or whatever the fuck everyone is complaining about this time, it’s tacky and racist and inappropriate and if u do that shit u are invited to eat my entire ass dick balls and cunt and i’m dead fucking serious.
