For Engage, I can think of no other character than Alain. Unicorn Overlord takes major inspiration from Fire Emblem AND has powerful ring accessories. His ring would have allow him to bond with an ally and give a stat boost for both of them

What if Fire Emblem had special guest characters like fighting games:

For Three Houses, I thought the protagonist from Persona 5 would be most likely. Not only did Royal came out the same year as Theee Houses, but the academy phase reminds me a lot of the social sim part of P5

For the special guest characters for Echoes, I picked Denam and Catiua from Tactics Ogre. Wanted to pick something from the 90s like gaiden and it did get a remake in the 2010s.

Kinda like the dlc characters, you can only have one character per army.

They would both start off as villagers. Denam would be best suited to most physical classes and have a decent spell list. Catiua would be more suited to the cleric or mage classes with a more robust and supportive spell list
