Betas are the sought-afters.

Imagine. Being Alpha or Omega and that coming with all the implications of heats and ruts. The damage that can be done to yourself. The damage that can be done to others. Need for lifelong healthcare support. Etc.

But a Beta doesn’t have those concerns. They are immune to the pheromones of an Omega in heat. They are immune to the intoxication of a rutting Alpha.

Beta relationships with Alphas or Omegas are calming. It’s thought that the presence of the third gender is naturally calming to both the more mercurial genders. Betas are hired more in public positions because they do not require so much medication, medical leave, or other things that their Alpha and Omega counterparts typically need. In societies where Betas are more rare, they often become top members of society because of how desirable the gender is.
