I am forever grateful to an archivist mentor I worked with in grad school for some resume advice she gave me and thought maybe others would also benefit from it.

Keep a Master Resume.

This is not the resume you send out. This is a detailed resume of every job (with dates and location, supervisor and location phone number are a bonus) and as many skills/duties/accomplishments you can possibly think of for each and every one of the jobs and education programs you can think of.

She showed me hers, it was about 25 pages long, and formatted exactly like a regular resume for ease. Every time she would learn a new program/skill, she'd add it. Change in title or duties, add it. Complete something big/special/complicated/new to her/professionally significant, she would add it. This way when she went up for a promotion or raise, she had a detailed record of highlights to pick from to show she deserved it. There was no "when was that? Did I submit that last round of reviews?"

Applying to a new job? Pick and choose items from your Master Resume to plug in to the resume or CV you will be sending based on the job posting. You don't need to rewrite it, just cut and paste relevant details.

Interest Check for Happiness or Glory: a Princess Tutu Event

Inspired by the many ways in which classic fairytales still influence storytelling today, this event aims to bring together a range of artists and writers to create Princess Tutu art, each piece themed around a fairytale.

This is a low stakes event that's somewhat of a hybrid between a zine and a themed week event. 

Please direct any questions to lesbianfakir on tumblr or cookiesandcantarella on discord.

How it works TLDR; each contributor will select a fairytale and create a Princess Tutu work inspired by that story. At the end of the event period, a selected number of days will each be themed around one of the chosen fairytales (for example, we may have Cinderella day where people post their Cinderella works, followed by Sleeping Beauty day etc…). At the end of the event, all works will be grouped together by fairytale into a free to download PDF.

How it works in more detail: anyone and everyone is welcome to join. After signing up, you will be sent an invite to the discord server hosting the event. We will have a voting period in which we pick out between 7 and 13 fairytales, based on interest. This number will be how many days the showcase period of the event lasts. Contributors then may select a fairytale they’d like to theme their work around (first come, first serve). Repeats are allowed but only after all selected fairytales have a contributor. Contributors may create more than one work after finishing the one they initially signed up for. At the end of the creation period, contributors will post their works on the designated day for the fairytale they've chosen. When all works have been posted, the mods will put together a free to download PDF of all works created (unless a contributor chooses to opt out of this last step).

How much creative freedom am I allowed with my selected fairytale? “Inspired by” can mean whatever you want it to mean. If your selected fairytale is Cinderella you might write a story casting Princess Tutu characters in the roles created by the classic fairytale, or you might choose to create a piece of art that, while largely unrelated, uses the motif of a glass slipper or a clock striking midnight. The fairytale theme is meant to help you come up with ideas, not restrict them.

This event will run through the summer, aiming for an early fall (September or October) release.
