Underwaken
It was quiet. Then again, it always seemed quiet here.
The breeze was only occasional, and it was always bone-chilling to those that don't usually make their home here. The sky was absolutely gray, leaving the ice spread across the ground and in large formations dull and without shine. A young girl sat inside one of the irregular towns, mangled and destroyed by unusually shaped formations of ice, sharp and pointing, almost like crystals. She was surrounded by these same icicles, made into a somewhat point that resembled a small home. Her ominous sobs could only be heard if one entered further into the town-- otherwise it seemed like complete ruins. She felt only some form of comfort inside this room. It was obvious it wouldn't storm today, but it seemed to get colder by the minute. After setting her first foot onto Pluto's land, Velxes felt a tingle up her spine. How chilling. She slapped the teeth baring on her dress, its tongue unrolling out like a soaking wet carpet. The saliva only had a chance to drip a few droplets on Vel's boots, as in a matter of moments the drool had completely frozen stiff onto the tongue. "Ahh..." The redhead looked down disappointed, a tiny frown drawing on her face. She knew it would be stuck like that until they left the planet. The one escorting her in this area, Alestyre, had looked down at the ginormous tongue himself with a sheepish smile. "Well, let’s get going then. Into town I suppose." He shoveled the only hand he had in his pocket and walked casually in front of Velxes showing the way. Vel had already been wrapping her hat around her neck as a scarf. A couple minutes later, not treading too far, the two came across what seemed like a winter wasteland. Along with the wind could be heard the echoes of someone distraught; Velxes couldn't help but smirk at the sound. She dashed off awkwardly, holding onto the heavy tongue that was in front of her as she ran. "H-Hold on there, Vel!" Alestyre reached out his clawed hand, grabbing Velxes' shoulder lightly. "Treading carefully around these parts would be wiser. You could fall on the ice." He grinned, walking up behind Vel. The tips of his hair and eyelashes were becoming white with frost, as were hers. Together they carefully followed the sobbing until it grew louder. Velxes could hear Alestyre gulp quietly as they stepped forward to what looked like a giant dome made of icicles. "Interesting..." The girl sneered. Lythrin nearly choked herself, gripping at her neck to stop the sobs, when she heard a sound-- something she hadn't heard in so long, and it made her afraid. Slowly, she let go of her throat, staring still at the icy floor beneath her. She could feel sharp ice piercing ever so slowly through her skin, and she began to cry again, too afraid to confront whatever was out there. The girl thought that perhaps it was a villager who had returned to seek revenge on her, and that only made her cry more. Honestly, crying felt natural to her by now. Whatever it was... She waited for it. The pattern of sobs faltering only reassured Vel that what was in there must have been some kind of living being inside of that dome. She raised her chin, biting her lip in thought. No entrance, huh... The ice looked quite thick. Was whatever inside put in there for a reason? Or could it be that... it secluded itself in there on its own? "Would you like me to see if I could pry it open somehow?" Alestyre was a bit unsure of how he would even do this, but knew it would be better if he had been injured himself trying instead of the person he was escorting. Velxes raised up the tip of her hat, her quartz wand rolling out and onto her empty hand. She lifted her wand and started to drag it across the ice wall, drawing what looked like a curved door upon it. "If there's no way, you gotta make your own," the girl mumbled. With a shining light, a cartoon shaped doorway had been made onto the icy structure. She let out a startled hiccup in between bawls when she suddenly felt the cool breeze blow into the dome, a sign that it had been opened. She had no idea how this person-- or people, as she had concluded from the muffled voices-- was able to get in without the use of violence at all. She faced the other direction, the ice now quickly pouring out in long, thick, distorted spears and spikes, some falling out to form new icicles within the same wounds. She spoke with a wavering voice that sounded worn out and unused. "Get away from me! If you don't leave now, I'll make you, just like the rest!" Her voice hissed, muffled inside the dome. Despite her aggression, she was unbearably afraid. Velxes froze in her tracks upon suddenly hearing the voice- it was understandable this time. So whoever was in here... Wanted to fight, huh? Well Vel was ready for that. She walked in cautiously, shoulders raised, ready for any sudden attack. Alestyre realized by now that no matter how many times he reminded Velxes of his presence, she would always jump ahead and do things disregarding him. That meant he had to use force in making sure she was safe. What a hassle... The man quickly got in front of Vel before she had the chance to confront Lythrin, making sure he was the first one she saw. "Heya, are you alright over here?" He smiled at the girl who had seemingly never ending tears pouring down her face. Velxes' eyelids lowered at Alestyre's move. She didn't answer right away, trying to scoot further away from the voice. "What do you care?! Leave right now, or... Or I'll kill you!" She spat out again, gloved hands trembling in front of her chest. "If you're here to hurt me, you'll regret it!" Her voice cracked a few times as she sat in what was now silence. Eventually, however, she stood up, grasping the fallen icicles in her hands. It was only then that she'd realized she'd never seen either of these people before. That didn't mean they weren't dangerous, however... Her grip on the ice tightened near her chest, rubbing where it once was intensely. It was surprising to find that the girl frightened her more than the tall man. She slumped against the wall of the cave, hoping to get away somehow. "Just go..." Vel had her cheeks puffed out lightly, not really enjoying this girl's sour attitude towards her and Alestyre. She'd kill them, huh..? Velxes had confidence that was not likely, and upon realizing her own great confidence couldn't help but smile. "We're not here to hurt you," Alestyre raised his hand calmly to the girl, trying his best to show a soft expression. He was used to dealing with such hostility, but knew there was always a chance this girl could lash on them either way. His claw hand shielding in front of him, the escort slowly stepped forward to Lythrin. "You must be freezing here. Would you like to come along to a warmer place with us?" Suddenly behind him, as Velxes tried to sneak up, she tripped over one of the loose icicles and fell flat on her face. Her Quartz wand slipped out of her hand and rolled forward, blending in with the rest of the clear pointy things surrounding Lythrin. Oops... Lythrin felt entirely uneasy pushed this far back against the wall, seeing people of the first time in who knows how long. "How do I know that... Y-you might lure me out to trap me!" She hissed, voice cracking and quaking. Though as she said this, she stared at Velxes, her smile causing extreme unrest. However, as she tripped, she felt just a bit... safer, for some reason. She seemed to have dropped something, but it looked like a regular icicle... except the texture was much more like a crystal. ...She wanted to snatch it. Her grip on the icicle released, staring back into the eyes of the tall man. It took her a minute to reply, searching for any openings with her shaky hands. "I'll come with you... But if you of anything to me, you're dead!!" Her eyebrows furrowed, hoping to move away from the icy wall. Her fresh wounds were still bleeding from the icicles. Raising his shoulders, Alestyre flinched at the sound of Velxes tripping behind him. He knew exactly what the rolling sound was as well, watching Vel's Quartz wand move into his line of sight. He warned her to be careful. After Lythrin agreed, Alestyre leaned his head to the side in thought. He was trying to think of a way to assure this girl of some way that his only interest was to guide her to somewhere better. The state she was in was not safe right now, especially with a mischievous idiot like Velxes around. "Ah, here," Alestyre brushed his thick scarf to the front of him, as it had blown back from the wind. On it was the official crest of Neptune's services. He'd only hoped the girl would recognize what it meant. Awkwardly getting to her feet, Velxes brushed off the loose frost from her dress and stood up straight once more. She waltzed over without hesitation to reclaim her wand. But... upon coming closer to Lythrin, slowed down to take a look at her wounds. They sure seemed unpleasant; gross gouges all over the place, splotching over the dress she wore. Vel couldn't help but stare. Lythrin stared blankly at the badge he held with empty white eyes, the symbol clicking in the back of her mind. They were here to help. She told herself that repeatedly in her head, but she only wanted to cower against the frozen floor again, shutting everything out. They came because she was dangerous. She stayed silent in thought and nodded, her train of thought only broken when she noticed the unnerving girl so close to her, gazing at her multiple open wounds. Lythrin felt disgusted. "Stop looking!" She demanded with a shriek towards the girl, covering a few wounds on her arms with her hands. Eyes widening at Lythrin's response, Velxes stood still for a moment until coming closer to the girl. Ignoring Lyth's words, she bent down, examining the wounds even closer now. They seemed to be quite unattended to. Was this girl really surviving on her own here in this wasteland? Eyelids lowering at the thought, Vel raised her wand closely to Lythrin's exposed skin and tapped it. A light glow washed over it, creating a numbing sensation. She hoped this would lessen the pain meanwhile. Lythrin tried to shove the girl away, fidgeting and thrashing angrily for a moment before calming down, frightened that she could no longer feel the wounds on her legs. It should have felt like relief, but she was fearing that her legs had fallen off, which was entirely unethical-- she was standing after all. She simply stared down to her legs and back to Velxes, eyes wide and mouth agape. "... H... How did she..." Lythrin stuttered, slightly directed towards Alestyre. She brought her shaky hands to her chest again, dropping the sharp icicles onto the frozen floor with a loud clang and shatter.
