purple language is too generous a phrase
Academic writing is mostly an exercise in performative intellectualism. It's not enough to have good ideas, you need to ๐ PONTIFICATE ๐
It is a real issue. And even after 10 years and a PhD I still have to spend mental energy parsing what people are saying.
But describing it as purple feels too generous. Too evocative. Can we call it turgid-language instead and actively start shaming people who write in this way...
