USTAAI Awarded Asec Mocha Uson, Deserve or not ? PREPARED BY : Ma. Aurora Tan
Do we really need to have an award before we can totally say that we did our best and our duty as a public servant ? those this awards represents our achievements and well done jobs ? how will you evaluate if this person really deserve to receive an award from your organization ?

Last January 21 2018 Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary Esther Margaux “Mocha” Uson Receive an award from University of Santo Tomas Alumni Association Incorporation for being a public servant. as soon as Asec Mocha receive the award from UST-AAI the UST Central Student Council response after they recognized Uson’s work as Presidential Communication Operation offfice assitant secretary. They accused USTAAI action of honoring Asec Mocha as Thomasian Awardee for Government Service. UST CSC tagged that the Government Service awardee as the “main purveyor of politically- motivated propaganda” mocha also called as “an avid spreader and citer of fake news” by the student council.
“Uson is also known to utilizer her following to initiate blatant personal attacks her critics and the government’s, including students and members of the press, all under the guise of fake nationalism and freedom of speech,’ UST CSC added. They also said that Mocha doesn’t embody the ideals of a real Thomasian. Because of this award Asec Mocha encounter so many issues. Even the other UST Alumni bash Asec Mocha because they believe that she doesn't deserve to receive this kind of award cause for them she should prove first that she did something that will help our economy grow and make our country a better one.
According to Phil Star UAAI earlier issued a statement, noting its decision to recognize alumni in government service was meant to challenge recipients to uphold UST’s core values of compassion, competence and commitment. It said criteria are for the recipients to be:
*A graduate of the University of Santo Tomas
*Working for the House of Representatives, Senate, judiciary or executive
The Presidential Communications assistant secretary earned a bachelor's degree in Science in Medical Technology in 1998. She also took up Medicine at the UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery but later chose to focus on a career in entertainmentUson’s inclusion in the list created buzz on social media Sunday night, with many individuals, including Thomasians, saying she is undeserving of the award. But Last January 24 2018 Communication Assistant Secretary Margaux “Mocha” Uson returned her Thomasian Alumni Award for Government Service. Uson wants the public to stop criticizing the president of USTAAI, Henry Tenedero. My position in this issue is we all know that Asec Mocha is part of our government but it doesnt mean that she is qualified to receive this kind of award from USTAAI. They should evaluate and monitor first the performance of Asec Mocha. What are the things that Asec Mocha did for our country? What she have done for our country? And based on what I have read ? I think many Thomasians deserve to receive this award better than Asec Mocha.
Although USTAAI have the criteria before they give this award to Asec Mocha I think they should think twice first, but we should also consider the opinion of the other UST Alumni. Because they just want a better image for their alma mater. We should also consider the fact that maybe our government taking away our attentions to other issues like martial law, train law, dengvaxia and other country issues. We should be wise and think twice before we react and comment to other country issues because it can affect the growth and development of our country be a concern citizen for a better country and a better future.

Filipinos are not ready for the new tax system
2 out of 10 Filipinos Workers knows about the new implemented tax system, Train Law or Tax Reform Acceleration and Inclusion. In which the government adjusted to lower the income tax rate but put an a higher rate in Tobacco, Sweetened Beverages, Fuel, etc. This is to finance the Build, Build, Build program of President Duterte. As far as the facts can tell, Filipinos are not literate about the new tax system. The government neglected to fully informed the Filipinos about the new system. Here are the ideas of some informed Filipinos.
An accountant said that "For me unang una agree ako, hmmm in general ang purpose naman ng Train Law is to address yung mga, kasi actually may deficiency talaga yung tax system natin before, specially yung income tax. So I think for the income tax it’s okay kasi it addresses, karamihan kasi sa mga Filipinos they are middle income employee so actually itog mga employees maganda na kasi this January naramdaman na nila yung effect ng pagbaba ng income tax rate natin,"
A Securuty guard said that "May napanood naman akong interview sa malacañang na magtataas ang excise tax sa sugar drinks tama po, dahil sa ngayon sa bansa natin marami ang bilang na may tumataas ang sugar level so kapag tumaas na yun mabuti di kasi hindi na bibili ang mga tao ng matatamis so iwas sa sakit na diabetes"
Some Filipinos thought that Train Law are for the new Transportation System.

HOW TRAIN LAW AND EXCISE TAX CHANGE OUR SOCIETY!
We all know that taxes is the main source of our Government to support their programs, taxes play the big part in developing our country by helping our government. But the government recently passed a law the Tax Reform Accleration and Inclusion or Republic Act 10963 simply called THE TRAIN LAW.
Now I can say that we totally got the change that our president promised to us when he still running for that position. Many changes came when President Rodrigo Duterte become the most powerful person in our society. The administration of President Rodrigo Duterte started 2018 by implementing TRAIN, which reduced personal income taxes but increased those on cars, tobacco, sugar-sweetened beverages, and fuel.
The Train law also imposes new taxes in the form of excise tax on sweetened beverages and non-essential services and removes the tax exemption of Lotto and other PCSO winnings amounting more than P10,000.
The most popular part of the Train law is the reduction of personal income tax of individual taxpayers. Prior to the enactment of the new law, an individual employee or self-employed taxpayer normally have to pay income tax at the rate of 5% to 32%, depending on one's bracket. Under this law , an individual with a taxable income of P250,000 or less will now be exempt from income tax. Those with a taxable income of above P250,000 will be subject to the rate of 20% to 35% effective in 2018, and 15% to 35% effective in 2023. Moreover, the deductible 13th month pay and other benefits are now higher at P90,000 compared to P82,000 under the old law.
There so many negative result of passing this kind of law including the following:
1. They decrease our income tax, but they double the value added tax in our daily need.
2. They decrease the tax of the poor but those poor people are the most affected in passing the excise tax.
3. They increase the passive income wherein they imposes higher taxes on some passive incomes, including interest income from dollar and other foreign currency deposits.
4. Even the sweetened beverages and non-essential services are included in this TRAIN LAW.
5. Eventhough the rich will give the big amount of tax to paid but still they are the businessman / businesswoman who gain more money by the help of excise tax and other new law about tax passed by the government.

How Internet change the world?
As time passed by many changes happened in our society and with the help of technology especially with the use of world wide web more and more changes will happen in the whole world. It is really amazing how world wide web transform our world, imagine in just one click you have the access to communicate with other individuals. It represent the emergence of the completely new information ecosystem that will have more profound impact on human civilization than the printing press did. Using internet is not bad because it helps us to gain and develop more knowledge but sometimes it can also accelerate globalization that something revolutionary will happened. Web is like a tool box of protest unleash on a unsuspecting world with the support of this, we can fix anything anytime and anywhere. The internet that operates beyond jurisdiction of anyone country and works against central control it shows that through the internet you can freely express your emotion because it is one of your rights. If you have a communication system that is unbreakable, anonymous users can now perform the role of investigative journalist because they can publish hard information and protect primary sources with the help of wikileaks. Wikileaks allows people to anonymously blow the whistle on governments and corporations if you’re against to the people who run it, you have the power to overthrow the authority, wikileaks protect sources so the anonymous writer can continue publishing documents. Not all the time revolution is the effect of using internet, through it transactions can be easier and it can help the economy grow faster.through the internet we have unity, people becoming more aware in their surroundings, many individuals learn new things via internet. but the sad truth is others abused their power to use the internet just for their own sake. We must be balanced, we don't need to hide our identity if we really want to fight for our rights. Let’s remember that everything we do today has a big part in our future.
