it's natural materials o'clock again & i made a stone golem.

a while ago, my partner's mother was moving and getting rid of some things, including a collection of rocks. i love a good rock, and when presented with a large wooden box of them, wanted to make a creature. i flirted with the idea of making something a little less stoney and a little more posable, but ended up deciding on this non-articulated sculpture. it has a metal wire skeleton, some tinfoil padding, and then just A Ton Of Rocks glued onto the frame. the face is a lake rock i found and painted some years ago, but didn't end up doing anything with until now.

Bilberries are a type of blueberry, they get marketed and sold as blueberries, and they don't even have a separate name in my language. You're not wrong but I had no clue what you were talking about without those pictures.

Feeling more and more insane as I get to talking fruit with my coworkers. My manager goes, “Name a blue fruit.”

The other three of us immediately said, “Blueberries.”

He scoffed and said, “Those are purple, they’re only blue on the inside.” I fought briefly about how they’re definitely blue and I won because I have an art degree.

At which point I reared back and went, “What? Blueberries are green inside.”

The other three stared at me.

I was like, “Am I going crazy? They’re green guys.”

Three sets of eyes continued to stare at me.

I pulled up google images and held up my phone. “They’re. They’re green. They’ve always been green.”

One pointed to a single image of a purple inside one, “That one is blue…”

“There’s something wrong with that one! They’re making a comparison, but healthy blueberries are green inside!”

They all mulled this over, looking like their entire worldview just shifted. I kept scrolling blueberries to continue to reassure myself that they’re green. They are.

Peas and beans are super easy, only need a few inches, even grow in tupperware. You just need a stick or smth they can climb. Potatoes, you can plant some that went bad and get 10 homegrown from one overripe storebought. And they taste soo much better, you'll never buy any again. Tomatoes grow great as well if they can get enough sun, heat and water. Throw some clear foil over them to simulate a greenhouse if you need to. Strawberries grow everywhere, and can share pots with other plants without fuss. But make sure you get the small wild version, not the huge overbred ones.

What are some good functional plants for apartment dwellers? I used to have a garden but now I have no yard ;;

HERBS! and aloe vera bc u can use it for a lot medicinally.
