it really is okay to be a girl and to want to be a girl. society likes to tell us that being a woman is undesirable. that women can't be funny, smart, nuanced, or have a personality. that women can't have interests. women can't be this and women can't be that- none of that's true in the slightest- talk to any number of women and you'll see that's just not the case. women are as varied and nuanced as people can get.
it's okay to want to do the "shallow" things that people hate women for. it's also it's okay to want to be a woman who doesn't shave or care about their appearance. it's okay to be a butch woman. it's also okay to want to be hyper feminine and wear very well crafted makeup and well planned out outfits. it's okay to be a smart woman, it's okay to be a funny girl. it's okay to be the weird girl. it's okay to WANT to be a woman and ENJOY womanhood, no matter how you express it, no matter what body you're in or how your womanhood presents itself.
trans women, genderqueer women, intersex women, butch women, gnc women, cis women- it's okay to enjoy being a woman. it's okay to find joy in womanhood. it's okay to be a woman in your own way, too, stereotype or not- even if other people say you don't act like a woman or aren't one- it's okay to love being a woman. it's okay to love womanhood.

If you haven’t watched the BL J-drama I Cannot Reach You/Barreras Del Corazón, go watch it right now please. It’s the most adorable and precious thing I’ve ever seen.

Probably what bothers me the most in media is how being 'just friends' is seen as something bad, something nobody wants. The classic downtrodden expression of 'we're just friends,' like it's a failure. Why is friendship seen as a step, not a final goal? Why can't we see deep friendships between people on TV and not have it portrayed as 'not enough'? There are so many types of love, man, and every single one of those is enough.
Edit: Since this is getting a lot of attention, I just want to clarify I'm annoyed at how, traditionally, romantic relationships are seen as the 'final step' and friendships/platonic relationships are seen as the lesser option. Friendship is never the lesser option.

btw the biggest lie you will ever be told about being trans is that transitioning will make you ugly. that could not be further from the truth: i never got compliments on my appearance ever, but after i transitioned, began dressing like myself, wore my hair the way i wanted to, and especially started T, i have gotten more compliments than i ever have before in my life. people can tell when you look like yourself, like who you're meant to be. it's beautiful, attractive, and sexy. transition will not make you "ugly". it will make you yourself, and that's inherently beautiful

about adhd
it concerns me that people really don’t know that adhd isn’t a personality type or behavioral problem.
adhd isn’t someone who’s personality is driven by fun and disorder.
adhd is someone who’s brain goes all over the place looking for dopamine, because it doesn’t make or register enough of it, and when it finds a source of dopamine, it hyperfixates on it. it’s about deregulation of attention as well as emotions.
it’s not a person who can’t behave. a person with adhd can look like a lot of things. misconceptions about what adhd looks like kept me from even looking for a diagnosis, and it also kept myself and others (professionals, even) from taking my suspicions seriously.
everyone’s encouraged to reblog, but if you don’t have adhd, keep your additions to the tags.
