Locked In: Prologue
Preliminary Data stream loading. Signs of possible instability detected. Further data required for affirmation.
Video steam initialized. Recording starting in 3… 2… 1
A soft sigh escaped from a pair of velvetine lips. Data streams were always such a hassle and could be tampered with so much easier than normal notes. Perhaps this is just an extra measure to ensure the notes turned in are true to fact?
Heels clicked against the floor as the refined office soon left the field of sight. The building remained quiet save those echoing clicks, yet every surface reflected Quentin’s current appearance as they proceeded towards the lift to receive their first case.
Still in their form from their previous research studies the being looked and appeared to be a rather adrogynous human in dark business attire. Humans. Quentin leaned against the lift wall as they began their ascent to the Council Chamber. Humans were fickle creatures with varying temperaments. Some societies were all accepting and more than kind while others were cruel and seemed to know nothing but bigotry.
The door opened with a low electrical hiss and Quentin stepped out. The same hiss seemed to stay at the base of their skull as the room illuminated with lines and runes of cyan and violet lights. Nine podiums circled the room, their seats high enough that all that could be seen was the faint glowing eye insignia that either marked the Council’s faces or perhaps decorated some sort of mask or helmet. No one to this day knows. The hiss seemed to grow louder and louder until finally a familiar tickle of electrical current felt as if it reached Quentin’s nervous system.
The Council began to speak, but their words were less heard and more felt through the Defense Reformer’s entire self being.
The Eye has requested you look into a matter for us. Timelines such as your 10-06’s have experienced offshoots since their very conception. The Locke virus seems to be mutating faster than anticipated, and while the essential mechanics for otherworldly participation is not hindered, that is not our main concern.
Similar to that of the trading type locke we have reason to believe what otherworlders call a TypeLocke may prove to be a more serious glitch in the actual world’s matrix.
You will not be sent alone, Reformer. We are sending an Enforcer to keep an eye on your progress. Should there seem to be a glitch serious enough you will be extracted and the infected timelines destroyed.
The glow around the room began to intensify and Quentin need not speak their agreement of their assignment. There was no rejecting an assignment from the Council, let alone the Eye. Bowing their head the Reformer approached the center of the room. Electricity began to ripple through their body before they turned into bright lights of data.
Error, subject unable to engage in mainline character format. Reconfiguring… Reconfiguring… loading. Loading complete
Human bodies were always so annoying, especially with all of the repressed emotions Quentin kept inside all of their life. Wordlessly they gathered their travel pack and bid their grandmother a respectful farewell as they left the small cottage in Postwick.
Flicking their amber eyes left and right they finally made their way over to their neighbor’s home. The home of the current Galar champion Leon, his mother, and his younger brother Hop. The young adult knocked on the door and was greeted by the mother of the two boys. The two had a nice talk over tea about Leon’s temporary return home and how excited Hop would be.
Sequence out of order. Warning: Proceed with Caution.
A half smile found its way onto Quentin’s features as they ignored the warning flashing in their eyes. What did they expect? Of course the sequence would be broken when you have an adult take the position of a child.
“Have you ever thought of becoming a trainer, Quentin?”
The soft question was enough to bring the Reformer out of their trance, “Well… sort of. My gran would appreciate it if I were to get out of the house more, but I’m not really the field travel type. I prefer to stay in one space.” Quentin mused as they finished their tea, the two could hear Leon and Hop outside, eagerly chatting as it seemed the older brother was giving the younger a brand new Pokemon.
“Well why don’t you speak to Leon? I know you’ve aged out of the exploratory stage before trainers have to decide a type to expertise in, but perhaps he could help see what can be done so you can still enjoy the life of a trainer.”
Quentin’s eyes widened. Did the code just?
Sequence righted, proceed as normal.
The code fixed itself. Things were sure to continue to be out of order but perhaps…
A small smile spread on the brunette’s face. “I think I’d like that.”
The night continued on with Leon putting Hop through some mock battles before their mother began a wind down period before dinner. That time is when Quentin approached Leon. Not saying anything they leaned against the lone tree by the practice field. The Champion, as sharp as ever, did not miss a single beat. Arms crossed he stood beside Quentin as the two seemed to contently watch over Hop, his mother, and their grandmother.
“Hop has told me a lot about you, said you moved to Postwick not that long ago from Kanto?” Leon asked, his eyes flicking over to the other. When he received a small shrug in response he hummed. “He also said you have always been kind to the Pokemon around town but neither you or your gran own any… Even if you don’t become a professional battle trainer, have you put thought into becoming a trainer anyways?” Either this man was way more perceptive than he let on or his mother talked to him.
“Sort of, I was never lucky enough to be able to travel to Pallet Town to receive a starting Pokemon from Professor Oak. So I’ve never been registered or been allowed to decide a specialty.” Quentin droned on as they tried to keep a neutral expression, however, the new false memories began to flood them with overwhelming emotions. A frown pulled at their lips. “And since Galar seems stricter than Kanto, Gran and I were never sure if I could travel to Wyndon for proper registration.”
Leon watched with curious and sympathetic eyes, his lips parting to say something more. Before he could his younger brother came rushing over with finished kebabs for the two to try as dinner was being set. His gaze lingered as Quentin carefully took one and they tussled Hop’s hair before sending him back towards the house, following after him as their neutral expression returned to their features.
The meal went by with idle chatter and talk of adventures. Quentin listened to them all with a carefully placed expression that showed interest while remaining professional distance. The two guests bid their farewells, but they did not get far before Leon came running out after the two.
“Quentin! Hey wait up a sec!” The purple haired man called out. The person of interest indeed stopped with a sigh, motioning for their grandmother to go ahead they turned to Leon. “It’s not a guarantee, but maybe we can go to Professor Magnolia’s house tomorrow? If both she and I vouch for you, perhaps the people at registrations will have to agree to let you become a trainer!”
Quentin’s eyes widened, why was he trying so hard? The code had a lot to do with interactions, but Leon also seemed like the type of person to do something like this unprompted. The corner of their lips twitched upwards.
“Alright, sure… but I’ll be leading the way.” They spoke with a teasing, but knowing, tone of Leon’s horrid sense of direction. The man looked a bit sheepish as he let out a small chuckle in agreement.
As he watched after the hopefully soon-to-be trainer Leon had to rub his eyes. Perhaps it was all of the travel and excitement from the day’s events, but he could have sworn Quentin shifted as if a Porygon, if only for the slightest of seconds. Rubbing the back of his head Leon tried to shake off the strange feeling. He just needed some sleep, and with that he turned in for the night himself.

Case File 10-06 Sub-File 06-08
Preliminary text about the upcoming case before data stream uploads are finalized.
This case is a further test on the validity of the Nuzlocke phenomenon, or perhaps a test of my skills as a Defense Reformer before taking on something like the Surpriselocke. This case filing breaks down to: Pokémon Shield, Poison Typelocke.
The Council had already predetermined the elemental typing I would be using for this case. I will be doing research into possible team members to be on the look out for.
The two main things to be aware of are the strengths and resistances.
For Poison types they have advantages over Grass and Fairy types, but are weak to Ground and Psychic. If I can find a Poison-Grass and a Poison-Dark I should be able to overcome those disadvantages easily.

Research File #10-06 pt 5
Ending Team Standings: Dubwool lvl 68, Fluffy, Holding Silk Scarf Toxapex lvl 70, Limber, Holding Bright Powder Weavile lvl 68, Pressure, Holding Scope Lens Cinderace lvl 71, Blaze, Holding Charcoal Haxorus lvl 68, Mold Breaker, No Item Meowstic lvl 68, Infiltrator, Holding Odd Incense
The last gym felt simple but as a breath of fresh air. It had been designated as the “dragon” gym with a unique system of double battles. To make things more difficult they even added non-dragons that could set up minor weather effects to boost their teammates strengths.
After this the four remaining challengers (myself, Hop, Marnie, and an unnamed fourth) were to compete in a randomized semifinals event to see who had a chance at fighting the champion. The winner of those rounds then had to go through another randomized tourney against the gym leaders at their maximum potential. Only then could the challenger fight the champion.
Keeping things short, your protagonist/mainline character is then thrust into several complications involving the League Coordinators that you and your friend, Hop, are expected to resolve. Once the danger has passed there is a three day relief period before you set out to fight the Champion, Leon.
He’s rather... something. He comes off as naive and a bit of a dunce but he shows excellent skills with battling and reading his opponents. Once you defeat him the main timeline ends, leaving your mainline character to proceed with anything else at their own whim.
I have unfortunately not been allowed to take on any of these extra steps. The Council has stated I will be allowed to make extra notes while on my upcoming case. I will be sure to put up brief notes prior to engaging as it is standard protocol that you remain in the timeline and have a steady data stream capture and record your findings.

Research File #10-06 pt 4
Current Team Standings:
Dubwool lvl 52, Fluffy, holding Silk Scarf Weavile lvl 54, Pressure, holding Scope Lens Toxapex lvl 52, Limber, no item Cinderace lvl 53, Blaze, holding Charcoal Haxorus lvl 51, Mold Breaker, no item Meowstic lvl 52, Infiltrator, holding Odd Incense After speaking with Sonia and Professor Magnolia about my theories of the “dynamax energy” with weather and the strange realization that it otherwise only affects Pokémon the two have asked me to stop by more frequently to share my findings on this matter. Apparently it never occurred to them that the strange energy was also effecting the climate and weather of the region as it has “always been like this”. Lack of foresight on their part, but I do not blame them. As a newcomer to this place I have a more general understanding on what is considered “normal”.
During that conversation we also spoke on how it seems that not every major city has enough of this energy to allow for “dynamax” battles, but those that do are major cities. They mentioned that the seventh gym, located in Spikemuth, is the only place that harbors a gym yet it isn’t on one of these “hotspots”. Unfortunately, as I’ve discovered, this has led to an economical downfall for the town as people don’t want to watch a “normal” battle. Once again I am reminded and disgusted by how people view this “sport” and allow others to suffer just because they don’t have a commodity.
Regardless, Spikemuth has my respect, as well as the Circhester gym. They are labelled as the “Dark” and “Ice” gyms respectively and I have a great appreciation for how these gyms operate.
Normally I would not go into the details, but I feel it helps me get a better understanding of my own opinions and findings.
Starting with the “Ice” gym. Based on how the other gyms seemed to make their challenges rather showy or “fun” I half expected this to be some sort of ice-skating or ice pushing puzzle. I must say I was delightfully surprised to be handed a pair of dowsing rods to navigate a trap filled gym that became more obscured as I progressed. This is honestly the type of challenges I expected to participate in. Melony, the gym’s leader, is a strict but ultimately nurturing person. Her personality, I find, is quite suited for the position as it should be a leader’s job to help strengthen and progress the trainers who enter.
Now the “Dark” gym. Very straight forward, just a gauntlet of matches leading up to their leader. Now there was nothing about the gym itself that impressed me, instead it was the leader’s determination to still try and put on a “show” despite not having a proper audience or the means to gain public attention. He also showed a rather humble attitude when it came to admitting his own faults, but he was understanding enough to accept that his younger sister would not take over the gym just because he has low self-esteem on the issue.
I also had to make a detour in my progression, stopping by a place called “The Isle of Armor”. The region’s champion, Leon, had trained there once and I wished to see if perhaps this is where certain gym leaders procured their “gigantimax” Pokémon. While I am unsure if they all went to this place to procure the mushrooms that enable this ability I am certain that the Pokémon had to come from here.
I am hoping my future notes will not be rushed as The Council is pressing me to finish up my basic run of 10-06. I understand their concern and wish to get a case started, but research into a stable universe takes time and should not be hurried lest I miss something that might be seen as a glitch if seen in another universe.

Research File #10-06 pt 3
Current Team Standings:
Cinderace lvl 47, Blaze, holding Charcoal Dubwool lvl 46, Fluffy, holding Silk Scarf Toxapex lvl 47, Limber, no item Sneasel lvl 48, Inner Focus, holding Black Glasses Haxorus lvl 48, Mold Breaker, no item Meowstic lvl 47, Infiltrator, holding Odd Incense In universe progression was stopped early yesterday after completing the “Ghost” and “Fairy” gyms and arriving in the town that hosts the “Ice” gym.
I have been asked to continue 10-06′s research study but The Eye has insisted that the previously mentioned “Surpriselocke” glitch should be placed on hold for the time being. I have suspicions as to why they would put off investigations on such an obvious glitch but I will not argue with The Eye. After my base research I am to report to The Council for the briefing of a case I am to take on related to 10-06.
As for now I will focus on documenting basic field notes and later come up with a proper document explaining the different elemental typings of these Pokémon.
In the past we have seen that the best way to “train” these creatures is by challenging other trainers or by spending countless weeks fighting the untamed beasts of the land. In the case of 10-06 things have become rather easy.
I previously have mentioned “dynamaxing” and the unique dens found across the region. Each den holds the energy needed for this phenomenon yet not every den has a Pokémon within. While fighting and possibly catching the creatures inside does not provide any shown signs of increased strength for one’s own creature, it does often provide rare goods.
The berries and odd trinkets are probably due to the creature harvesting them for their own sake and dragging them into these dens for safety before becoming “dynamaxed”. However, if you look carefully, the energy built up from the creature’s prolonged state crystalizes the energy into “candies”. These can be fed to Pokémon to bolster their strength permanently. I hardly find this appropriate and feel as though it’s encouraging the “accelerated evolution” or mutation these creatures go through faster than their bodies can handle. I have yet to see any negative side effects with my own creatures.
A very obvious note, but weather is a huge factor on what can been seen and found in this region. As expected, creatures with certain elemental attributes are predisposed to different types of weather. That isn’t what concerns me. It seems this region has a very alarming weather system where there can be isolated blizzards, sandstorms, thunderstorms, and blistering heat waves in the same area without warning and without harming the indigenous life. The human inhabitants of this region seem unphased by these strange events, but perhaps it could be due to the excess energy that causes “dynamaxing”? Next time I enter 10-06 I will try to speak to Sonia or Professor Magnolia about their theories on the matter.

Research File #10-06 pt 2
Current Team Standings: Sneasel lvl 30, Inner Focus, holding Black Glasses Dubwool lvl 31, Fluffy, holding Silk Scarf Mareanie lvl 34, Limber Raboot lvl 31, Blaze, holding Charcoal Axew lvl 32, Mold Breaker Meowstic lvl 30, Infiltrator, holding Odd Incense
Today’s research has gone swimmingly well. By our normal society time it has only been a few hours so I did not lost much time at the office. However, in this Pocket Monster world it seems to have been weeks spending time training these “Pokémon” and travelling from town to town.
As I forgot to mention in my previous notes, these creatures not only have unique elemental attributes and alarming intelligence, but also seem to have specific “abilities” through species lines. Perhaps an evolutionary effect to give a better survival chance? As an example, my Dubwool’s ability is called “Fluffy”. At first I thought such a thing was just a descriptor, but it seems to be an actual ability of the creatures. As it is “Fluffy” my Dubwool seems to have greater resistance to physical attacks but unfortunately suffers if exposed to fire. A less descriptor like example would be my Meowstic’s “Infiltrator” ability which allows it to attack through barriers that some Pokémon are able to produce.
Then you have the more obvious “levels”. With my knowledge this is only from an outsider’s perspective as the inhabitants of these places seem only to know that the hyper evolutionary advancement of these creatures that they simply call “evolution” (which honestly should be classified more as a mutation) is achieved by growing stronger on a base principle. They have at least understood that the creatures can go about this “evolution” via being exposed to certain stones that have immense elemental power stored in them, through the bonds made with their owners, or via certain items that just help improve their natural abilities.
It also seems that trainers are rather... well they’re not simple-minded but they fully believe that the Pokémon can only know four moves at a time. I believe this is most likely a standard set by the Pokémon League to keep things more streamlined.
Regardless, over the course of a few my world hours I was able to complete the “water” and “fire” gyms. It seems each gym has their own “challenge” to complete before facing the leader. It is inventive but once again I can’t help but feel disgusted as it seems to be more for the audience than the actual trainer.
It has been noted that many of these other regions have quite prominent criminal organizations. Thus far there does not seem to be any here, but I will keep my wits about me as the danger of them having actual weapons alongside their creatures may prove difficult to manage.

Research File #10-06 pt 1
Otherwise known as Pokémon Shield.
Reason for Research: Recently an outbreak of “locke” phenomenon has broken out across these generations of “Pocket Monsters”. Most are harmless aside from the consequences of death, but that is a natural process. We have recently discovered what people are endearingly referring to as a “Surpriselocke”. In the normal gaming function this is a simple surprise trade of the first Pokémon you catch from every area/route, where death is still a consequence... however this is of a great concern for the stability of the actual world as it manifests as a glitch in the technology of this world. Causing the capture devices to spontaneously change upon being activated with a host’s DNA Signature.
As these Pocket Monster worlds are relatively the same I have chosen the “Galar Region” as my accent has compared to the region’s earthly inspirations. This will provide a decent cover for myself and allow me to blend in easier.
Current notes for this region are going to be...complicated. I wish I could stay here longer, this dynamaxing phenomenon is truly a wonder. It seems any of the creatures can under go this transformation and it is encouraged here, even so far as to make “candies” to improve your creature’s abilities in this larger form.
The amount of these dynamax dens that are found in the wild is a bit alarming, seeing as it would not take much for them to crawl out if they truly wanted to. But this has made for a horridly easy way to to build a team I find suitable.
I have advanced as far as the first “gym” ( reformer’s note: it is utterly disgusting that they make a show and sport of these fights and creatures. Barbaric even.). It seems as each of these creatures has one or two elemental typings that offer both resistances and weakness to each other. “Grass” was the first element I faced and proved no issue (*see current team standings below).
I am currently preparing for this “Water” gym, this may prove to be a struggle as I do not have what the trainers refer to as a “type advantage”, but perhaps it will not be necessary.
Current Team Layout Raboot lvl 27, Blaze (Given at beginning of research session) Axew lvl 25, Mold Breaker (Found in Den) Espurr lvl 21, Infiltrator (Found in Den) Wooloo lvl 25, Fluffy (Found in Route 1) Sneasel lvl 26, Inner Focus (Found in Den)

“Reaching out to worlds beyond my own, I am Quentin Arliamari. If you or a loved one is worried about the validation of your created timelines or world send your questions to me. I will see to it that your creations are validated in the sight of The Eye to avoid Erasure.” Quentin is here to go see new worlds, old worlds, and everything in between to defend them in the eyes of their rigid society’s standards. Feel free to interact! If asking an opinion please state so. If showing a new “creation/works” please state if it is just for records or if it alright for Quentin to go visit that world (i.e. I will do a short story of Quentin in that universe to collect data).
