Tao Te Ching - Chapter 6
A mindset of receptivity and non-interference, much like a valley that passively accepts and nourishes life…. true power lies not in forceful action, but in aligning with the natural flow …

You're not supposed to feel comfortable while you grow.
You're supposed to feel aware.
Aware of the thoughts trying to pull you backward.
Aware of the fear trying to keep you small.
When you face that discomfort and keep going anyway, you earn the kind of freedom people dream of.
Keep going.
I promise you it's the most rewarding work you'll ever do.

“A crow flew into the tree outside my window.
It was not Ted Hughes’s crow, or Galway’s crow.
Or Frost’s, Pasternak’s, or Lorca’s crow.
Or one of Homer’s crows, stuffed with gore,
after the battle. This was just a crow.
That never fit in anywhere in its life,
or did anything worth mentioning.
It sat there on the branch for a few minutes.
Then picked up and flew beautifully
out of my life.”
— Raymond Carver

Rebecca Solnit// “Joy doesn’t betray but sustains activism. And when you face a politics that aspires to make you fearful, alienated, and isolated, joy is a fine initial act of insurrection."

To be initiated into a mystery psychologically is to have a mystical experience that changes you. You are no longer who you were before. You have undergone something that sets you apart from those who have not had the experience. Often, an initiation involves an element of isolation, of facing fear, or undergoing an ordeal. But perhaps just as often, the initiatory experience comes as a gift of grace, when mystery and profound beauty come together in a numinous moment of which we are a part. The new initiate feels archetypally twice-born: into life at birth, and now through a mystery, into a new state of being or new consciousness.
