Simply put I am a College student that is going for their Bachelors Degree in Journalism. I wanted to start this page so that Not only I have a spot to put out some of my own thoughts out there. But also meet like minded people and get some practice in writing articles. This page is meant to unit and not divide. The two party system is necessary for any democracy but treat thy neighbor with kindness and tenderness. I also want to make a disclaimer to my readers that I am not an expert nor do I have the qualifications yet of a full Journalist.

Your Right to Complain
If you want to complain about how America is evil just remember the Constitution gives you that right. So maybe stop complaining about rewriting history and live in the know otherwise known as reality. Wake up and start being proud of what country your in where trauma isn't a winners contest and disorders aren't an excuse anymore to justify your behavior.

Information Fascist
After moving my stuff out of my storage unit today so that I can save money this month. I realized I had damaged my AUX cord. I'm an hour away from where I live and also very annoyed with how my day has turned out. Regardless, I started looking for a store that might sell one when I stopped at a phone store. After waiting a while I asked if they had one which they did but there was a catch.
That catch was that they would not sell you anything unless they got your name and your phone number. When I told them I didn't have a phone with their company and was not interested in giving them any sort of personal information they looked at me like I was a bad guy and also added that there was a warranty added to it. Which I informed them that I don't want nor was interested in. However there was no way to take it off.
This is what America has come to steal and forcibly taking people's personal information and for what exact reasons that they refuse to tell you or tell you to run along and not worry about it. There is no such thing as privacy anymore. I should be allowed to not give my personal information if I want to just so I can buy a cord that should have been $10 instead of $18. My rage is immeasurable and disgusted with how idiotic corporate America is now. Don't give me non of you company policy shit anymore we are all tired of it. Make the purchase and leave me the fuck alone!

Who is your neighbor
To be very clear, some days I'm a religious person and other days not it is much like the relationship I have with my father is difficult at times. But sometimes there are certain discussions that you remember from church and teachings and one of them being a conversation I had with a pastor about who is your neighbor.
At this stage in America I clearly remember there was a huge issue in the community about whether or not gay scouts would be allowed into boy scouts. Which I found to be stupid because I believe they were already in scouts so I didn't feel that there needed to be a discussion about it if it had already happened. But there I get carried away once again a bit too much zeal.
Even though he was talking about this topic back then I still feel that his teaching is still something that can be applied these days extremely now that everyone seems to be divided by categories and parties and defining themselves by who they voted for or what they morally stand for. His basic premise was that everyone is your neighbor and as it implies in the Bible you must treat your neighbor with kindness, patience and understanding.
So perhaps a little less complaining and a little bit more tolerance.

The First Republican I Voted For
In my last article I made a mention of a certain Republican that I continuously voted for on my voting ballot. I feel that perhaps I should give some context on why I made a mention of it. For the purpose of this article they shall remain nameless. What I can tell you is that this man has spent many many years in the House of Representatives and also many years as a Congressman.
For some context I grew up in a small town that is mostly a rural agricultural community. Seeing how small it was it would have been impossible not to know everyone in town in some capacity. Not to mention my grandmother and mother were well connected with the elite of the community. That however did not mean that we were privy to things that would happen nor did we have much influence, we just knew people. I however am getting sidetracked.
The reason I mentioned all of this is that fate and coincidence can sometimes be quite amusing. She is indeed fickle. The coincidence is that this congressman's family has been in the town since it's founding and it so happened that his wife was one of my first grade teachers. Which means I was very familiar with their family and because of that a certain level of trust had been created. Enough to look past political views and interests and purely make a decision upon mutual respect and trust.
Yes I did not agree with him on women's rights nor some of his more conservative views but I knew that he had the community's interests at heart regardless of how he felt about the bigger picture. He also has not been the only Republican I have ever voted for but that is a story for another time and certainly a much longer discussion.
And that's something that I have never quite understood about balance and the voting system and people's general opinions. Is there not a greater sense of community of agree to disagree how you can both sympathize but also disagree with the right honorable gentleman. Do unto others as you would do unto thyself.
My next article will be on who is your neighbor?

Why I changed sides
Growing up one of the first things I was most looking forward to was the ability to vote in elections. And right after putting my name down for the draft that was the second thing I did. I was also excited because that year was a presidential election year for Hillary Clintion and Donald J. Trump was the last two candidates standing that year. I come from a liberal arts family, the old style of Vietnam hippy who I exclusively only watched CNN at the time decided that it was time for a woman to be president of The United States of America. I cast my vote and vigorously went down the line to mark down every Democrat I could except for one option who was Republican.
Then after finishing I handed in my ballet and left for home. That night I watched closely while the Electoral College did its magic and went to bed being horrified and stressed out that Donald Trump had won the presidency. Four years went by quickly and I lived in fear that someone was going to come for me because I didn't fit the mold of a normal person, that's putting it mildly. But after the four year term was up I woke up one morning with the realization that I had survived a Trump presidency and nothing really wrong happened. My life certainly wasn't affected or really changed in any way.
After four years you start to get more experience and wisdom and I had finally come to terms with my Bisexuality. However there was becoming a big problem with that and not for the reasons you think. I continued to watch CNN and over and over they would talk about Someone did this or that or someone was offensive. Things about microaggressions and pronouns and all these social problems like legalizing all drugs and this woke mind virus. Which I do think exists.
But I tried to ignore that and so when the next election came I voted for Joe Biden and went exclusively Democrat except for that one Republican again. And Biden won after that. However this liberal woke agenda keeps popping up in the news. Everyday to me it was a new problem which made me feel even more distant. By that time I was living with my parents in the countryside on seven acres of land. And when I returned I was not in the best financial state whatsoever but I went back to the old ways of farming and living off the land where you couldn't complain about how unfair things were. I got a manual labor job and turned my life around with hard work and determination.
Then it was time for the next election and needless to say I still didn't want Donald Trump in charge so I voted for Kamala Harris. But after I did and Donald Trump won I was in disbelief that was until I saw what happened the Democrats lost the house and the senate the presidency and the supreme court, had lost reproductive rights. Frankly this made me very upset with what direction the country was going. And then I realized that deep down I wasn't a Democrat nor Was I a Republican I had always been a Libertarian. So in an answer to why I changed sides, it's because the Democratic party lost my confidence of competency. They spent the entire election period whining about social problems that were clearly not winning arguments and not learning the basic principle that making shoving your problems and beliefs is gonna make people sick and fed up with it and yes they will turn away and try and change the problem. Being morally correct does not entitle you to win and if Democrats want to hold onto any kind of power they need to change and learn from this and stop these pointless and absurd notions because no one wants to hear them anymore. Perhaps the silver lining is that maybe a bit of common sense has returned but only time will tell.
Just some thoughts that might Quill you in
Please leave comments but please be respectful and civil I hope to create a community here of common sense.
